One Piece Chapter 1149 Out: Could Gunko be Brook's daughter? Everything we know so far
Gunko is a World Noble and a member of the God's Knights, introduced as a major antagonist in the Elbaph Arc. She wields the Aro Aro no Mi (Arrow-Arrow Fruit), which allows her to create and manipulate arrows, making her a formidable opponent. Described as a young woman with light short hair, heterochromia, and bandages covering parts of her face and knees, Gunko's enigmatic personality and powers have made her a focal point of the arc. Her actions, such as kidnapping giant children to force Elbaph's submission to the World Government, showcase her ruthless side, but recent spoilers suggest a deeper, more complex backstory. The Flashback: Brook and Gunko's Connection
One Piece Chapter 1149 raw scans reveal a pivotal flashback that has fueled speculation about Gunko's relationship with Brook. In this flashback, a silhouetted figure—believed to be Brook due to his distinct afro and height—is seen holding a young girl's hand in a musical setting. The figure expresses his dream of becoming a pirate, saying, 'Yohoho!! Becoming a pirate is my dream.' Another memory shows a woman screaming 'Father!' which some interpret as Gunko recalling her past.
In the present, Brook observes Gunko, noting, 'How similar they are…' while Gunko, seemingly regaining a fragment of her memory, runs toward him and asks, 'Was it Brook!?' These moments suggest that Brook and Gunko share a history predating his time with the Rumbar Pirates, over 50 years ago. However, the silhouette-only depiction leaves it unclear whether the young girl is Gunko herself. Is Gunko Brook's Daughter? Fan Theories and Evidence
The possibility that Gunko is Brook's daughter has ignited fan discussions across platforms like Reddit and X. Here are the key points fueling this theory:
Brook's Mysterious Past: Brook's backstory before joining the Rumbar Pirates is largely unexplored. We know he was a battle convoy leader for a kingdom in the West Blue and joined the Rumbar Pirates 52 years ago. The flashback in Chapter 1149 places his interaction with the young girl before this, potentially 54–60 years ago. If Gunko is that girl, her youthful appearance suggests she may be immortal or unaffected by aging, possibly due to Imu's influence or her Devil Fruit.
Gunko's Behavior and Brook's Music: Gunko is a fan of Brook's music, as seen in Chapter 1144 when she listens to his song 'New World.' Her emotional reaction—feeling pain when attacking Brook in Chapter 1147—suggests a personal connection. Some speculate this could indicate a familial bond, though others propose she might have been a friend or a figure Brook protected during his time as a royal guard. One pieceOne Piece Chapter 1149

Shonen Jump's Comics App Now Lets You Read as Much Manga as You Want
Shonen Jump's manga reading app has long been one of the best deals in digital comics—free recent chapters, speedy turnaround on official translations of some of the biggest manga in the world, and access to a vault spreading across some of the biggest series in comics for $3 a month. But now the app is removing one particular hurdle that makes it even better. This week Shonen Jump announced in an email to subscribers that it was removing its 100-chapter-a-day reading limit from the app, which had been in place since the service launched in 2018, now letting users read as much manga as they want with no restrictions. Sure, 100 chapters of manga was a lot of comics to be reading in a single day in the first place, so it's unlikely that most but the absolute power users of the service regularly hit this cap. But now your marathon reads of the likes of One Piece, Naruto, Dragon Ball, Bleach, and the many, many more manga series with chapter counts in the multiples of hundreds can continue unimpeded. It's a smart move, considering the sheer number of manga series that have chapter counts that run well over a hundred chapters. Even if not too many people were regularly hitting the 100-chapter cap for a day, the fact that it's no longer there in their minds makes subscribers open to reading more, and trying more series out. You get to read a lot of comics, Shonen Jump gets a loyal subscriber, everyone wins. Except whoever now tries to binge all of One Piece in a handful of days just to prove a point. David Dastmalchian Cast as M. Bison in Legendary's New STREET FIGHTER Movie — GeekTyrant
David Dastmalchian has officially scored a big role as the iconic villain M. Bison in Legendary's upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie, based on Capcom's awesome video game franchise. Legendary hasn't commented, but this is a massive gig for Dastmalchian, who's built a killer résumé over the past two decades with the projects he's starred in, and he's going to be great in this role! The actor recently appeared in Mike Flanagan's The Life of Chuck , and gave an impressive performance in the horror film Late Night with the Devil . While plot details for Street Fighter are still being kept under wraps, anyone familiar with the games knows that M. Bison is the main puppet master. He's the ruthless head of Shadaloo, a global criminal syndicate involved in weapons trafficking, mind control, and good old-fashioned world domination. In the lore, he's also the force behind the global martial arts tournament that sets the stage for the series. Dastmalchian isn't new to villainy as he's set to appear as Mr. 3 in One Piece Season 2, has a role in Dexter: Resurrection , and recently co-starred in Apple's Murderbot series with Alexander Skarsgård. But stepping into the role of M. Bison puts him at the center of one of gaming's most legendary franchises. Joining Dastmalchian in the Street Fighter lineup are Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, Orville Peck, Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson, and Andrew Schulz. Bad Trip director Kitao Sakurai is helming the project. Dastmalchian continues to stay busy and he's currently filming the psychological thriller Kodak SuperXX alongside Kelly Marie Tran, and he's also part of Bryan Fuller's upcoming horror project Dust Bunny. Dastmalchian is sure to bring the intensity, unpredictability, and depth that could turn M. Bison into a genuinely compelling on-screen villain. What do you think about his casting? Top 10 Anime Moments I Find Amazing
Vs Ulti ( Spoilers) I was really happy to see a moment like this in One Piece because I haven't really seen a really big one on one Nami fight in awhile , so to see this fight was phenomenal to me. Watching Nami beat an opponent who is not really physically stronger but does have powers is always satisfying to me simply because just like Usopp she thinks outside the box and is able to come up with a strategy to beat her enemy. new power form ( Spoilers) Robin's new form really took me by surprise ; simply because I was not expecting her form to look like this. I do think the way she looks does make the most sense based on her backstory as a child , and even her wanted poster ; since people used to call her the demon child this form has the most compatibility with her character. sharing one for all with Bakugou This was a cool moment for me as it really shows that in a dangerous situation Bakugou can put his hatred for Deku aside and work together to defeat the villain. surviving the sun Not gonna lie this scene made me shed some tears. To have watched Nezuko just accept her fate and kick Tanjiro off of her basically saying 'let me go' to him just made my eyes well up, especially after watching their journey together up until that point. But then seeing Nezuko not only just standing up in the sun but also saying good morning was insane to me. going Beast mode When Gohan turned beast mode I was ecstatic . This is honestly one of the few reasons I feel like Gohan can absolutely beat Goku and is stronger than him. The first reason I thought this was during the cell games when he became SSJ 2 and defeated cell. 6. Hanji fighting collasal titans An amazing scene as it shows the strength and bravery Hanji has as a soldier and a character. She was incredibly fearless as she fought against all those collasal titans even though she knew she couldn't beat them on her lonesome ; she fought anyway to protect her friends. 7. Erza taking on 100 monsters Fairy Tail is one off my favorite Anime's of all time and has some stunning fights. Erza's fights are some of the best in Fairy tail beside Natsu's. Her style of fighting has always intrigued me an throughout the show it has been proven just how strong she really is , but this moment during the Grand Magic Games really expands on just how powerful she is . This fight was one she volunteered for and she absolutely crushed it , she used her magic to bet all 100 of these monsters and showed just exactly why she is labeled an S-class Wizard. 8. Saitama stopping his punch Watching Saitama fight Genos was amusing to me . The entire time I was watching I thought it was funny since everyone who watches one punch man knows just how unimaginably strong Saitama is. So that scene when he almost punches Genos but stopped himself like a few inches from Genos' face that proceds how much he really holds back. 9. Luffy getting to Gear 5 I was honestly surprised when Luffy gets to Gear 5. I was really excited to see the transformation in the anime as it really does the moment in the manga justice.( 10. Sakura vs Jo togame ( Spoilers) I found this moment in Windbreakers amazing because I was waiting for this fight for a while. This fight has some great choreography in showing the different fighting styles that both characters have.
