LOI transfers: Douglas James-Taylor hails ‘massive opportunity' with Bohemians
James-Taylor had been a big hit in the league since he moved to Drogheda United on loan from their parent club Walsall last season but with his loan deal due to expire at the end of June, clubs were keen to pounce and even though Drogheda tried hard to retain him he opted for a move to Dalymount Park, ahead of a possible debut away to St Patrick's Athletic on Friday.

Katie Taylor prediction echoed as 'final chapter' approaches
Katie Taylor is in the final chapter of her career and could hang up the gloves after her trilogy fight with Amanda Serrano this week. However, Eddie Hearn also believes the undisputed super-lightweight champion could opt to continue fighting following Friday's bout at Madison Square Garden. "It's the final chapter, how many paragraphs of the chapter are left we'll have to wait and see," he said. "At the end of the day, everything is based on the performance. Sooner or later, you're going to bow out. And if you bow out with a victory, it's always really rewarding as a fighter. "But right now, if you ask her the question, she feels unbelievable, she's got a long way to go and a lot to give." Taylor, who turned 39 last week, is 2-0 against the Puerto Rican, more than two years her junior, but comes into Friday's bout as the underdog in the betting. The bout headlines a historic all-women event in New York, which sees the most world championship belts ever contested on a single fight card in the four belt era, male or female. A total of 21 world titles will be on the line across five fights between three undisputed championship bouts and two unified contests. Taylor defeated Serrano by unanimous decision on the Jake Paul v Mike Tyson card in Texas last November, two and a half years after beating her via split-decision. Another war is expected back at the venue of their first fight, with Serrano coming into the bout as the 4/7 favourite, while Taylor is 6/4 with the bookies. The Bray Bomber stated recently that despite her two victories, she still doesn't believe that she has shown her best against Serrano. And Hearn, who has promoted Taylor for all 25 of her pro fights to date, expects the 2012 Olympic gold medallist to win more comfortably this time around. "I expect her to win and win well," he added. "I think every fight with Serrano is going to be tough. "They're both tremendous fighters, but I expect another war at Madison Square Garden and another victory for Katie Taylor." American trainer Ross Enamait has been in Taylor's corner for all of her pro bouts and will be again this weekend. However, her father Pete travelled to her Connecticut base to work alongside the five-time amateur world champion last month. 'To be back training with him is huge for me. You can't mention my story without mentioning my dad," she said recently. 'We know each other very well at this stage. I know what I need to work on, I know what I need to do." Pete, who was in his daughter's corner for all her amateur successes before they split in 2016, added: "We're just so comfortable here together. Katie's my child and I know her inside out. 'Even though Ross has been with her for the last 10 years, I still know Katie better than anybody else. When you have two people that's interested in one person, the conversation is always going to be constructive."

Mike Tyson places €1m bet with Jake Paul on Katie Taylor victory
Iron Mike is throwing his support behind the Bray Bomber to come out top 'El Gallo' who co-promotes Serrano through Most Valuable Promotions, is backing her to win the trilogy match which is set to go down at Madison Square Garden in New York City. However, Iron Mike is throwing his support behind the Bray Bomber to come out top. Paul shared a clip of a FaceTime call with Tyson on Monday where he refers to how 'the streets' are saying Taylor vs Serrano II was better than their own headline clash in November last year. Paul declares: "Man, a lot of people are saying that Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor's fight was better than ours." Tyson quickly replies "Oh yeah?" Tyson and Paul go head to head last November Today's News in 90 Seconds - July 8th Paul quickly cuts in, adding: "They're fighting again this weekend!" Without hesitation, Tyson states: "I have got Katie. "Do you wanna bet?" Paul says. After a brief pause, Tyson agrees to the wager. "All right. If Katie wins then you get $1m, but if Amanda wins, then I get $1m." The pair then jokingly agree that loser also buys dinner after the fight. Taylor already has two wins over Serrano, having initially defeated her via split decision in April 2022. Having retained her WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring female lightweight titles, Taylor again merged victorious in a an unanimous decision in November 2024 as the co-main event to Paul vs Tyson. The rematch was the most-watched women's sporting event in US history. Ahead of the much-anticipated clash, Taylor said she feels 'great'. 'Everything is going to plan, thank God,' she said. 'I feel better than I did before the last fight. From week to week, I am getting sharper and feeling stronger in training camp. 'I'm excited for fight night. What an amazing opportunity to fight at the Garden again, and on Netflix.' Taylor, who will turn 39 a week before the bout on July 11, won both fights by decision over 10 two-minute rounds. Serrano had requested 12 three-minute rounds, but Taylor's team decided against it, due to the WBCs intention to strip her of her belt should they do so, which led to a heated debate. 'First of all, we shook on it,' Serrano said during their opening press conference, repeating what she said in the press release announcing the fight. 'She didn't agree when we went to sign the contract.' Taylor called her opponent's previous 12 round bout 'boring'. Katie takes on Serrano 'I think we shook on it depending on if you won the fight. But regardless I think it's a matter of principle that the challenger shouldn't be dictating the terms of the fight,' she said. 'I am 2-0 here and I'm in the driver's seat here, and that's only right. At the end of the day Amanda needs this fight a lot more than I do. 'I have a long history of big fights against big names and a line of people queuing up to fight me for the payday,' Taylor told Serrano, before shutting down her pleas for 12 three-minute rounds. 'I think the point of a three-minute round was to prove to people that you get more knockouts — how many knockouts did you get in your 12 three-minute rounds? Zero. They end up being boring fights. Read more 'And it wasn't a good advertisement for 12 three-minute rounds for women, it was boring. So I don't think Netflix are too disappointed that this fight is a 10 two-minute round fight.' The tension stems from the accusations of headbutts in the second fight in Dallas and Serrano's corner protests afterwards. In between verbal barbs, Serrano repeatedly reiterated her respect for Taylor, but the Bray native had had enough of her opponents protests. 'She has to respect the decisions. If you look at those fights, you can clearly see that I won those two fights. It's insane. It's ridiculous really. It's really, really insane that she thinks she won those fights,' said Taylor. 'Of course I won. It was an amazing fight. We've had two of the best fights in the history of boxing. Two very, very close fights, but I think that the margins at the top are always very tiny, but I did come out as the deserved winner." 'Even with the ridiculous point deduction during that fight the three judges still saw it my way. I was the deserved winner and here we are again having a silly conversation because you're trying to create a narrative that you were robbed in that fight. That's not okay, Amanda.' The back and forth certainly adds intrigue, given that Taylor is 2-0 in the two bouts and it seems like the bout won't be Taylor's last and the Olympic champion says this is the peak of her storied career. 'I feel very great. I feel fresh right now, and just can't believe her in this position where we are headlining an all-female card in MSG, this is the greatest moment of career,' said Taylor. Serrano then wore head gear at the face-off, alluding once again to the headbutts which Taylor responded to with a smirk.
