Robbie Williams shares heartbreaking update on mum's health amid dementia battle

Daily Mirror3 days ago
Robbie Williams spoke about his parents and his mother-in-law at a gig in Germany on his Britpop tour recently, with the former Take That member speaking about their health
Former Take That member Robbie Williams has shared an update on his family, including his mother, Janet Williams and his father, Peter Williams. The singer-songwriter spoke about his parents whilst on stage at a concert recently.
Robbie, 51, is touring Europe at the moment on the Britpop tour, which opened in the UK earlier this year. It included performing in Germany, where he spoke about his parents' health and his wife Ayda Field 's mother, Gwen Field.

The BRIT Award winner shared last year that his mother, Janet, had been diagnosed with dementia whilst his father, Peter, was dealing with Parkinson's disease. Robbie said at the time that he was in a "different part" of his life now.

As reported by the Sun, Robbie provided an update on his parents at one of his gigs, as well as speaking about his mother-in-law Gwen's health. It included him saying that Janet doesn't know who he is or where she is anymore.
Robbie told the crowd at a recent concert: "My mother has dementia and she doesn't know who I am anymore." He said that Janet doesn't know "where she is" now either.

Speaking about Peter, he said: "My dad has Parkinson's and he can't leave the house." Robbie recalled his father singing to him every night on stage, saying that he would "steal the show" and then return backstage for a glass of wine.
According to the outlet, Robbie also spoke about his mother-in-law Gwen. It comes following the news in October last year that his wife Ayda's mother had been diagnosed with cancer once again.
Ayda shared at the time that Gwen had been told that her cervical cancer "had come back and metastasized". Gwen, who fans had previously been told has Parkinson's and lupus too, later thanked her daughter, son-in-law and fans for their support.

Robbie said at the concert: "My mother-in-law, who I absolutely worship and adore, has three illnesses." He then referenced lupus, cancer and Parkinson's before describing Gwen as the "most courageous lady" who is "fighting".
The outlet reports that he then told the audience at the venue that it feels "very strange" to be "the grown up". Robbie added that he is "not ready for it".
Robbie launched the Britpop tour in Edinburgh in May. He's since performed at venues in London, Manchester and Bath. More recently, he headed abroad and has performed in countries such as Denmark, France and Spain.

The Sun Dream Team is back! Everything you need to know about our fantasy football game ahead of the 2025/26 season

THE SUN Dream Team's fantasy football is now available to play ahead of the 2025/26 season! Aspiring managers can play for free via the Dream Team app or website with over £100,000 in prize money up for grabs. 8 Whether you're new to the world of Dream Team or a returning gaffer coming back for another crack at the world's most compelling fantasy game, here's everything you need to know. Prize Pool There are multiple ways to win cash this season, including an increased top prize for the overall winner. 1st: £60,000 2nd: £15,000 3rd: £5,000 4th: £3,000 5th: £2,000 6th - 10th: £1,000 each We're also giving away £250 after every Gameweek to the manager who earned the most points. This means you only have to get it right once to enhance your bank account. Furthermore, we'll be giving away £5,000 in the second half of the campaign via our Second Chance League. As if that wasn't enough, there will be a £5,000 prize draw among all entrants to Gameweek 1. Simply submit a team for the opening weekend and you could be celebrating the new season in fine style. That's well over £100,000 in total prize money across the season for our free-to-play fantasy game alone! 8 Team Selection You will have a starting budget of £50million to select a team of eleven Premier League players, with seven formations to choose from: 5-4-1 5-3-2 4-5-1 4-4-2 4-3-3 3-5-2 3-4-3 Your formation will change dynamically as you experiment with your team in the lead up to Gameweek 1. For example, if you initially select 4-3-3 but later decide 3-4-3 would work better, simply remove a defender and choose a midfielder as a replacement. The most expensive players in the game this season? Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland at £7.5m each! Once the action starts, player prices will fluctuate depending on form. Work the Dream Team stock market to your advantage and your XI will be worth more than £50million in no time. Don't forget to select a captain for each Gameweek, who will have their points doubled as a result. Your vice-captain will have their score doubled if your first-choice skipper doesn't play for any reason. 8 Scoring Points Dream Team's scoring system is perhaps the best aspect of the game. We recognise individual performances in suitable detail, without overcomplicating things, to ensure players receive due reward for their efforts. All Players Goal +6 points Assist +3 points Appearance (0-59 minutes) +1 point Appearance (60+ minutes) +1 point Shot on target +1 point Big chance created +1 point Successful tackles +1 point per two Yellow card -1 point Red card -3 points Penalty miss -3 points Own goal -2 points Goalkeepers & Defenders Only Clean sheet (minimum 60 minutes played) +5 points Each goal conceded over one goal -1 point Goalkeepers Only Saves +1 point per two Penalty save +3 points Players are also able to earn bonus points, based on other actions such as blocks, successful dribbles, interceptions, etc - see the Game Rules for a full breakdown. 8 Eligible Competitions Dream Team seeks to entertain you all week long. The Premier League provides the bread and butter but players will also score points in the Carabao Cup, FA Cup, Conference League, Europa League and Champions League (not including European qualifying rounds). With NINE English teams set to play in Europe this coming season, there will be shed-loads of points on offer in midweek. And you only have to look at the massive returns provided by the likes of Daniel Munoz, Eberechi Eze and Alexander Isak last season to see how valuable the domestic cups can be if targeted shrewdly. Transfers Once the season is underway, transfers become the most important aspect of the game as they allow you to swap under-performing players for superior replacements - at least that's the idea. You will have the option to make two transfers per Gameweek. Alternatively, if you're happy with your XI then you can roll transfers over to the following Gameweek. Similarly, if you have two transfers available and decide to use just one, then the unused transfer will carry over to the next Gameweek, when you'll have three at your disposal. Through rollovers, you can accumulate transfers until you reach the maximum of six. Managing your transfer allowance will be a key strategic element throughout the season. Please be aware that the deadline for each Gameweek falls 90 minutes before the first fixture kicks off - any transfers made after the cut-off time will not go through until the following Gameweek. The exception to this is Gameweek 1 when you will be able to make changes right up until Liverpool v Bournemouth kick-off at 8pm on 15th August - this is to ensure as many gaffers as possible avoid getting caught out by the Friday night start. Transfers are unlimited prior to Gameweek 1, allowing you to tinker to your heart's content. 8 Substitute Feature New for this season, we're introducing a Substitute feature to help you swerve those frustrating times when one of your key players is unexpectedly absent for an important fixture. Available to use five times throughout the campaign, Substitute allows you to swap out a player who didn't feature for another player who is yet to play that Gameweek. For example, if Bukayo Saka is unexpectedly absent from Arsenal's squad in the 12:30pm Saturday kick-off, you can activate Substitute once that fixture is complete and select a replacement for the Gunners' No7 from all the players yet to play, budget permitting. When the Gameweek concludes, Saka will regain his place in your XI but you'll keep the points earned by his replacement. Activating Substitute is the only way you'll be able to make changes after the Gameweek deadline that will take immediate effect. 8 Boosters You have three Boosters at your disposal, each with a special effect to aid your progress (if deployed smartly). Each Booster applies for the duration of a single Gameweek and can only be played individually (never in combination) once per season. You are not eligible to win a weekly cash prize if you activate a Booster. 8 Mini Leagues We encourage you to participate in private Mini Leagues against your friends, colleagues, family members… or whoever you can wrangle. For many gaffers, competing against their mates for bragging rights is the very essence of Dream Team. You are also able to join public Mini Leagues. We'll be on hand with plenty of tips, tricks, stats and facts via articles, newsletters and push notifications throughout the season.

Oasis icon Noel Gallagher says this Scottish bakery serves up the 'best ever' rolls

It has been baking delicious treats for more than 40 years. There is less than a month to go until Oasis make their long-awaited return to Scotland. The Britpop legends, headed by brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, have reunited and will play three shows at Edinburgh's Murrayfield on August 8, 9, and 12. ‌ Scottish Oasis fans are counting down the days until their first shows in the country in more than 15 years. If you're looking for a way to while away the time until August 8, why not visit a bakery that comes highly recommended by none other than Noel himself. ‌ Bavarian Bakehouse holds the title of being the oldest artisan bakery in Glasgow. Situated on the outskirts of Scotland's biggest city, near Cumbernauld, the business has been around for more than 40 years. ‌ Established in 1984, the bakery was bought by former accountant Kathleen McShane from German master baker and merchant seaman Karl Wichman more than 14 years ago. In 2017, she relocated the factory from Kirkintilloch to its current 4,000 square feet premises. And they also now run a store in Partick, in the heart of the city's west end. Over the years, the company has evolved into a multi-million pound turnover business with a team of 30 skilled staff members. It was previously crowned Wholesale Baker of the Year in 2023. Staff at Bavarian Bakehouse say the firm has stayed true to traditional baking methods while extending its reach across Glasgow and beyond. Its offerings include sourdough, pretzels, cakes, pastries, and traybakes. The bakery has become a popular choice for supplying high-profile events like the Commonwealth Games, The Open Golf at Royal Troon, and even the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards at Kelvingrove Art Gallery. ‌ It was at the latter event that Noel Gallagher reportedly declared Bavarian's sourdough rolls were the best he'd ever tasted. Kathleen McShane, Managing Director of Bavarian Bakehouse, previously stated: "During the dinner, Noel kept asking for more of our soup rolls. Given they're sourdough, they are markedly different from the rolls you typically get at these events. ‌ "He said they were the best he had ever tasted, and the chefs even gave him some to take home with him in a doggy bag." Bavarian Bakehouse is renowned for its handcrafted approach, producing over 35,000 items weekly. Its starter sourdough is as old as the bakery itself. McShane also commented: "It's been incredible to watch how the bakery has grown from humble beginnings to supplying some of Glasgow's most renowned venues. ‌ "We've stayed true to the original principles of using traditional, handcrafted techniques, and that's resonated with our clients. "The reason we're still around is because we've never stopped evolving. There's a growing appetite for food made properly, and I think people are becoming wise to how bad supermarket bread really is for you. "We need more space so we can continue to give the same care and attention we've always given to our products as demand grows."

Sara Pascoe: I Am a Strange Gloop review – terrific standup's uphill struggles

Her last tour, Success Story, found Sara Pascoe in the loved-up phase of recent new parenthood. Reader, she has now put that phase behind her. I Am a Strange Gloop finds our host staggering shell-shocked from the soft play area to the stage, with battle-hardened tales to tell from motherhood's frontline. Ruthlessly banished from the centre of her own life, she now endures an existence 'that makes The Handmaid's Tale look progressive', cleaning up after infant sons, fielding their erratic poos, playing receptacle and canvas for vomit and passing toilet brushes. All that is amusing if familiar. So, too, her material on her manchild husband, which – coming from an act who once laid siege to gender essentialism – cleaves surprisingly to stereotype. Where our host gets sharper is in the philosophical dimension she gives this new chapter of life, conjuring with a sense of self so undermined by becoming a mum, and by shouldering adult responsibilities, that she's not sure what's left of prior-Pascoe – see one terrific joke about escaping, like her two kids did before her, from her own body. There are other ways to cheat biology, of course: the show's second recurring subject is the transhumanist fantasy of remaining forever young. There's also a counterintuitive section on AI porn, and a story about meeting Robbie Williams that brings middle-aged Sara into contact with the teenage Take That fan she used to be. This may not add up to as tight or conceptually rich a show as the 44-year-old has delivered in years gone by. Her closing set-piece, a new chapter she's written to add to the Bible, is apropos of nothing that precedes it. But she delivers some fine material – about Sisyphus, revolting against capitalism, and an excellent running joke (in more ways than one) about Paula Radcliffe – even if doesn't unite into a coherent whole. Forever young? That's not happening. Forever interesting? Without a doubt. Touring until 29 March
