The history of Formula 1 shows how vying for the title can turn the friendliest of teammates into bitter rivals. But so far, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris are making it work at McLaren.
As Norris heads to his home race at Silverstone, he's hoping fans at the British Grand Prix show his Australian teammate some love, too.

'The British fans are normally very accepting for all of us and especially for us as McLaren. So I think the first point should be for the fans to embrace everyone and support everyone,' Norris said after his win at Sunday's Austrian Grand Prix when asked if there might be a hostile reception for Piastri.
Nine years ago, one of F1's most famous teammate rivalries came into focus at the Austrian Grand Prix, when childhood friends-turned-Mercedes teammates Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg collided on the last lap, one more incident in a relationship which had long been rocky.
Two apologies
There have been recent incidents in Norris' and Piastri's time together which potentially may have soured the relationship between other drivers.

In Canada, Norris clipped the back of Piastri's car on June 15 and hit the wall. Norris apologized.
On Sunday in Austria, Piastri attempted an over-optimistic lunge and narrowly missed hitting Norris. Piastri apologized.
'We both want to race hard and race fair, and it goes both ways,' Norris said Sunday.
'(The incident in Canada is) something I wish never happened but it was nice that we could go out and have a good battle (in Austria) and push things to the limits," he said. "There were still some close moments, but nothing that was hopefully something that would make Andrea (Stella, McLaren's team principal) or the pit wall sweat too much.'

Welcome to Silverstone
In his third year with Britain-based McLaren, Piastri has some warm memories of the Silverstone crowd, but he's never been there before as a championship leader whose closest rival is the home hero.
'A couple of years ago they were chanting my name in the crowd, so that was unexpected. I'm not sure I'll quite get that again, which is fair enough,' Piastri said. 'Obviously I'm expecting there to be a lot more Lando fans than 'me' fans, but that's fair. It's it's his home race as well, so I think it'll be fine.'

Ford Accelerates EV Expansion in Europe with Three New Models

Ford is making big moves in the electric vehicle (EV) space, bringing more options to European drivers who are looking for efficient, sustainable, and stylish alternatives to traditional gasoline-powered cars. The company has been steadily expanding its EV lineup, and now, it's adding three new models to the mix: the Puma Gen-E, E-Tourneo Courier, and E-Transit Courier. These vehicles aim to make electric driving more practical and appealing to a wider audience, from everyday commuters to businesses looking to modernize their fleets. With strong performance, impressive range, and thoughtful design, these new models reinforce Ford's commitment to a cleaner, smarter future for transportation. The Puma Gen-E takes Ford's well-loved compact SUV and turns it electric. But don't worry—it still has the sporty feel and stylish look that people love. It can drive up to 233 miles on a full charge, making it a great choice for both city trips and longer drives. Plus, fast-charging means you'll spend less time waiting and more time on the road. Ford designed the Puma Gen-E with modern drivers in mind. Its sleek interior, advanced tech features, and smooth ride make it a strong competitor in the growing EV market. With more drivers looking for an electric car that doesn't compromise on performance, the Puma Gen-E is set to be a top choice. The E-Tourneo Courier is perfect for families and people on the go. It has five seats and plenty of room for road trips, sports gear, or running errands. With a range of about 179 miles, it's great for daily driving, and you can charge it quickly when needed. It's a smart pick for anyone looking for an eco-friendly, do-it-all vehicle. One of the biggest advantages of the E-Tourneo Courier is its practical layout. The interior is designed with comfort and convenience in mind, offering flexible seating and storage solutions. Whether you need extra cargo space or comfortable seating for passengers, this EV adapts to your needs with ease. For businesses ready to switch to electric, the E-Transit Courier is a great option. It's a small but powerful work van that can drive up to 186 miles on one charge. It has more space than the older model and can carry heavy loads, making it perfect for deliveries and business owners who want to save on fuel costs while helping the environment. Businesses will appreciate the lower running costs of an electric van, from reduced fuel expenses to lower maintenance needs. With many cities implementing low-emission zones, the E-Transit Courier allows companies to operate freely while staying compliant with new environmental regulations. Ford is building these new electric models at its factory in Craiova, Romania. The plant uses solar panels and smart systems to cut pollution while making the cars. The electric motors for these vehicles are made in Ford's Halewood factory in the UK, showing Ford's commitment to making cleaner cars in a responsible way. The company's investment in these manufacturing facilities shows its dedication to an electric future. By improving production efficiency and reducing emissions at the factory level, Ford is not just creating EVs but also ensuring the entire process is more sustainable. These new models join other Ford electric vehicles in Europe, like the Ford Explorer, Capri, and Mustang Mach-E. The E-Transit Courier also adds to Ford's electric work van lineup, making it easier for businesses to go green. Ford is proving that electric cars can be practical, fun, and good for the planet. With more choices than ever, drivers can find an EV that fits their lifestyle—whether they need a compact SUV, a family car, or a work van. The future of driving is electric, and Ford is leading the way. Ford's expansion into electric vehicles is part of a broader movement toward a cleaner, more efficient transportation system. As technology advances and charging networks grow, electric cars are becoming a more viable option for everyday drivers. With its latest lineup, Ford is making it easier than ever for people to make the switch to EVs.

Liverpool's Trey Nyoni signs new long-term contract with the club

Trey Nyoni has signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool. The central midfielder turned 18 today, and the new deal rewards the impression and impact he has made since his arrival from Leicester City in September 2023. He signed his first professional contract in October 2024, having been training regularly with the senior squad. A special birthday for Trey! 🌟🎈 — Liverpool FC (@LFC) June 30, 2025 Upon signing the new deal, the teenager said: 'It means a lot, obviously supporting the club from young as well, so it's a great feeling. Now I have to go out and show why I've earned this contract. 'It's just step-by-step, day-by-day, just becoming better every day, improving as a player. I'm still young. You know, there's a lot of improvement. That's the most important thing.' After impressive performances in several different age groups in Liverpool's youth academy, Nyoni made his debut in the same campaign as a late substitute in the FA Cup fourth round victory over Southampton in February 2024, becoming the fourth youngest debutant in the club's history. He has also impressed head coach Arne Slot, as he was involved in pre-season and made five senior appearances last season — including in the Champions League against PSV, becoming the club's youngest-ever player in a European competition (17 years and 213 days). Advertisement Nyoni has also represent England at every youth level from undder-16 to under-20. A new contract for Nyoni is great news for him and Liverpool and underlines the faith the club have in his potential. The 18-year-old has been turning heads since he arrived at the academy and has been fast-tracked through the age groups because of his talent. The gifted midfielder has technical quality in abundance. He is calm in possession and is versatile, capable of playing in multiple midfield roles. The hope is he is the next gem to emerge from the academy that has seen a number of players come through and play first team minutes. It remains to be seen what Liverpool decide is best for his development this season, but the ambitious midfielder will no doubt be hoping to make another strong impression in pre-season and form part of Slot's first team plans.

UK vehicle production constraints affect May output: SMMT

UK vehicle production continues to face constraints, with figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) revealing a 32.8% decline in May to 49,810 units. It marked the lowest May performance since 1949, excluding 2020's pandemic-affected production. The year-to-date output is down 12.9% to 348,226 units, the lowest since 1953. Car production decreased by 31.5% in May, attributed to ongoing model changeovers, restructuring, and the impact of US tariffs. A total of 47,723 units were produced. Commercial vehicle output also saw a drop of 53.6% to 2,087 units, influenced by the closure of a UK commercial vehicle plant. Car exports dropped by 27.8%, with a 42.1% decline in domestic market output, increasing exports' share to 78.5%. Shipments to the EU and US, the UK's largest markets, decreased by 22.5% and 55.4%, respectively. The US share of exports fell from 18.2% to 11.3% due to a 25% Section 232 tariff imposed by the US administration in March. The UK Government has negotiated a trade agreement expected to take effect by the end of June, potentially alleviating this constraint. Exports to China and Turkey also declined by 11.5% and 51%, respectively. Export volumes of vans, buses, coaches, taxis, and trucks fell by 71.7% year-on-year. The EU remained the largest customer for UK commercial vehicles, accounting for 94.7% of exports, despite a 72.1% drop in volumes. Consequently, the export share of overall commercial vehicle production decreased from 67.9% to 41.4%, with the domestic market becoming the primary destination. Despite current constraints, the sector remains optimistic, according to SMMT. With three new trade deals with the US, EU, and India, the industry aims to leverage the UK Government's industrial and trade strategies. According to the trade body, addressing energy costs, enhancing access to international markets, and stimulating domestic demand could help the UK regain its position among the top 15 automotive manufacturing nations. SMMT chief executive Mike Hawes said: 'While 2025 has proved to be an incredibly challenging year for UK automotive production, there is the beginnings of some optimism for the future. Confirmed trade deals with crucial markets, especially the US and a more positive relationship with the EU, as well as government strategies on industry and trade that recognise the critical role the sector plays in driving economic growth, should help recovery. 'With rapid implementation, particularly on the energy costs constraining our competitiveness, the UK can deliver the jobs, growth and decarbonisation that is desperately needed.' Earlier this month, a survey by Startline revealed that more than seven out of ten UK customers are open to buying cars from emerging Chinese carmakers.
