Tommyy Reimagines Hit EP ‘El Rwaya' with Galaleo in a Raw, Acoustic Session

Egyptian breakout artist Tommyy returns with a new layer of intimacy on El Rwaya (Live Version) —a stripped-back, one-take reinterpretation of his viral EP, collaborating with versatile songwriter, composer, and producer Galaleo, who accompanies him on piano. The project trades heavy production for emotional clarity, revealing the core of Tommyy's storytelling. Tommyy is giving fans exactly what they asked for—an unfiltered, acoustic retelling of his most vulnerable work to date. Dropping today, June 30, El Rwaya (Live Version) is a four-track acoustic project that sees Tommyy shedding the layered production in favor of piano, presence, and pure vocal storytelling. With Galaleo on piano, each track— 'Taree2 Egbari,' 'Emshy,' 'Etghayart,' and 'Mekamleen' —was recorded in a single take: live, raw, and emotionally charged. 'I made El Rwaya to escape,' Tommyy says. 'The acoustic version is me confronting everything I ran from.' The original EP—a blend of Arabic lyrics and deep house beats—made serious waves, garnering over 46 million streams in less than six months, and inspiring hundreds of thousands of TikTok creations. Tommyy quickly became a standout voice in the region's ever-evolving sonic identity. Now, with this stripped-down version, Tommyy invites listeners into his heartspace—no autotune, no gloss, just the essence of what made El Rwaya resonate in the first place. It's a bold move in a market oversaturated with synthetic production, and proof that storytelling and soul still cut through. El Rwaya (Live Version) drops today, Monday, June 30 at 8 PM Cairo time.
