5 of Arsenal's greatest European nights
Arsenal delivered one of the greatest European nights in the club's history by routing Real Madrid 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.
Here, the PA news agency looks at five other memorable Gunners encounters in continental action.
Arsenal 3 Anderlecht 0 – 1970
The first of Arsenal's two European trophies came in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, the precursor to the UEFA Cup.
They won 3-0 in the second leg of the final at Highbury to overcome a 3-1 deficit from the opening encounter.
Goals from Eddie Kelly, John Radford and Jon Sammels secured the club's first silverware for 17 years.
Arsenal 1 Parma 0 – 1994
The Gunners lifted the Cup Winners' Cup, which was later abolished in 1999, after Alan Smith produced a stunning finish from the edge of the area.
Parma's star-studded line-up for the showdown in Copenhagen included Tomas Brolin, Faustino Asprilla and Gianfranco Zola.
But they could not break down Arsenal's famous rearguard marshalled by Tony Adams.
Inter Milan 1 Arsenal 5 – 2003
Thierry Henry struck twice as Inter were dismantled at the San Siro.
Arsene Wenger admitted that 'not in my wildest dreams could we have predicted that sort of result'.
Freddie Ljungberg, Edu and Robert Pires were also on target in the Champions League group game to avenge their 3-0 defeat to the Italians at Highbury two months earlier.
Real Madrid 0 Arsenal 1 – 2006
The Gunners became the first English club to triumph at the Bernabeu after Henry broke the deadlock early in the second half of the last-16 Champions League clash.
Victory came in a period when Real collected superstars for fun, with David Beckham, Ronaldo, Robinho and Zinedine Zidane all starting.
Arsenal eventually lost to Barcelona in the final.
Arsenal 2 Barcelona 1 – 2011
Until Tuesday's humbling of Real Madrid, this was Arsenal's greatest European win at the Emirates Stadium.
Barcelona, having taken the lead through David Villa, fell to late goals from Robin van Persie and Andrey Arshavin.
However, the Spanish giants went on to win the second leg of the last-16 clash and the competition.

One area he's looking at is a new winger to replace Vaclav Cerny who has returned to his parent club Wolfsburg after spending last season in Glasgow. Martin did have a promising player lined up to take the Czechia international's place in the Gers first team. However, the manager will need to change his plans after seemingly losing out on the race to sign him. The player Martin wanted to sign was Kwame Poku, who was Peterborough United's Player of the Year last term following a standout campaign in EFL League One. He was also named in the division's Team of the Season after he scored 12 goals and provided eight assists in 27 league outings. The 23-year-old is out of contract this summer and Rangers were one of the many clubs that expressed interest in signing him. At one stage it looked like Poku had all-but sealed a stunning move north of the border to become one of Martin's firs recruits in Scotland. The ship has since sailed, though, as we told you last week how he was closing in on a switch to Queen's Park Rangers instead. Now transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed the deal is now official and he's set to be unveiled as Julian Stephan's first signing after taking over as boss at Loftus Road this week. Sir Sean Connery's secret £1 MILLION investment in Rangers revealed Delivering the major update on social media, Romano wrote: "🔵⚪️✍🏻 Kwame Poku has signed in as new Queens Park Rangers player right now. All sealed. Deal 100% done. Excellent addition for QPR." It's a major blow for the Light Blues as Martin now has less than a month to land another target before the first Champions League showdown against the Greek giants. Rangers will host the first tie on July 22 and the return leg has been scheduled for the following week on July 30. They face Club Brugge in their first pre-season friendly on Sunday, July 6. Juddmonte juggling pack with leading milers
The Juddmonte-owned four-year-old claimed Group One honours for the first time at Newbury last month and was consequently among the leading contenders for last week's Queen Anne Stakes, but he was ultimately well beaten in seventh place. 'I think they just went far too slow, they crawled for four furlongs and then sprinted and Lead Artist is a horse we know stays beyond a mile,' said Juddmonte's European racing manager, Barry Mahon. 'It just didn't pan out for us on the day, but he's a better horse than that, we know that, and we'll get him back on track and see the best of him again.' Lead Artist holds an entry in Goodwood's Sussex Stakes, but is unlikely to head that way if that is the chosen target for his illustrious stablemate, while Harry Charlton's Irish Guineas runner-up Cosmic Year must also be thrown into the mix. Mahon added: 'I don't know where we'll go with Lead Artist yet. There's going to be a bit of juggling there with him and Field Of Gold and Cosmic Year and Jonquil as well. 'We haven't quite worked it out yet, but we will as we go.' Andrew Balding's Jonquil is another looking to bounce back from an underwhelming performance at Royal Ascot, having seemingly found the six furlongs of the Commonwealth Cup too sharp. He was one of two Juddmonte-owned runners who failed to run up to expectations in that Group One contest, with the Ger Lyons-trained Babouche also well held. 'Babouche was disappointing, she was just too keen and you don't get away with being that keen in a Group One in Ascot,' said Mahon. 'It was her second time in England and her second time doing that, so we'll have to go back to the drawing board. We'll probably keep her in Ireland for the rest of the year and see if we can get her back on track. 'Jonquil was just a bit of a square peg in a round hole – six furlongs was too short for him. Christophe (Soumillon) felt he came home great in the last half-furlong, but he said he needs a mile and we'll try and find an opportunity.'

New Panathinaikos signing predicts victory vs Rangers
Pedro Chirivella, a former Liverpool midfielder, recently joined the Athens side and is eager for a European triumph. He is one of three summer signings, alongside Georgios Kyriakopoulos and Ahmed Touba. The Greek club will face Rangers in a second qualifying round tie next month, with the second leg in Greece. Chirivella, who made his Liverpool debut under the current Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, is optimistic about Panathinaikos's prospects. He said: "The fact that Panathinaikos are in the Champions League played a very big part in my decision to come here. "We have two very big matches against Rangers coming up and we need to be 100 per cent ready to play them. "I am sure we have enough in the team to get through." Chirivella expressed confidence in his new team's abilities and his personal aspirations. He said: "It was an easy decision to sign here because everyone knows Panathinaikos are a very big team. "I wanted to come here, I have big ambitions to play in the Champions League."
