Wales overcome Scotland in Six Nations Women's Summer Series
Wales led 38-8 early in the second half and though Scotland threatened a fightback, the hosts finished with a flourish to open their account for the competition.

Scotland were first on the board through a Lucy MacRae penalty but Wales were not behind for long.
Mollie Wilkinson was first to go over and the full-back started the move which led to her side's second score, finished off by Seren Singleton when the ball was switched from left to right.
Wales' backs were in confident mood, with Marshall conducting them expertly, and Picton-Powell was next to hit a great line and crash over from close range.
Captain Branwen Metcalfe then got in on the act, the No.8 taking a quick tap and go, shrugging off a couple of attempted tackles and barging over. Marshall's fourth successful conversion stretched the lead to 28-3.

Picton-Powell thought she had a second try on the half-hour mark but her score was ruled out by the TMO following a knock-on earlier in the move.
Scotland then finished the half strongly and deservedly crossed for their first try when full-back Poppy Mellanby broke through before releasing Ceitidh Ainsworth to finish.
The second period began with Wales back in the ascendancy and it took them less than three minutes to re-open their account through replacement hooker Rosie Carr, who found herself at the bottom of a dominant rolling maul.
Picton-Powell crashed over for Wales' sixth score soon afterwards, twisting and turning in contact before stretching over the line, but Scotland responded quickly as Freya MacColl finished a neat move in the left corner.

After Sian Jones was sent to the sin-bin for head-on-head contact, MacColl turned provider for Scotland's next try, breaking down the left before feeding full-back Poppy Mellanby, who stepped inside her opposite number and crossed under the posts.
MacColl crossed for her second, converted by MacRae, as Scotland reduced the deficit to nine points but Dali Hopkins burrowed over from close range to give Wales breathing space before Evie Hill's try brought up her side's half-century with the clock in the red.
Wales conclude their 2025 Six Nations Women's Summer Series against Italy on July 17.

Lynagh in Test mix after 'fantastic' development
Australia scrum-half Tate McDermott backed Queensland Reds team-mate Tom Lynagh to perform if he is given the starting fly-half shirt for the Wallabies against the British and Irish Lions. View from the Shed: Russell Gordon on Morton's promising League Cup start
Morton kicked off their Premier Sports Cup campaign with a 4-2 win away to Peterhead on Saturday. (Image: Gary Bradley) DOUGIE Imrie will be hoping to build upon a positive start to the Premier Sports Cup campaign this evening as Morton host League One Stenhousemuir at Cappielow. After Saturday's excellent 4-2 victory at the Warriors' League One compatriots Peterhead, three points tonight would see Morton cement their place at the top of the group going into their weekend off, with group favourites Motherwell dropping a point in their penalty shoot-out success over Clyde. Advertisement I certainly wasn't alone in travelling up to Peterhead with a bit of trepidation given Morton's cataclysmic start to last season's group stage against East Fife, but those fears were allayed by a dominant Ton performance that could have yielded far more than the four goals it did. Given the balance of play, the biggest surprise was that it took 21 minutes for Cammy Blues to open Morton's account, finishing in style through the legs of a stricken Peterhead trialist. (Image: Gary Bradley) Our defensive frailties, however, were exposed when a defensive mix-up forced Sam Murdoch into conceding a penalty that allowed Oliver Colloty to level the affair. Given the lack of a goalkeeper on the bench, the double jeopardy rule that resulted in Murdoch collecting a yellow card rather than what in the past would have been a red must have been a relief to the young keeper. Advertisement Despite that setback, it was encouraging to see how well Ton responded, with new signing Kris Moore forcing home his first Morton goal only six minutes later to sent Morton in with a half time lead that flattered their hosts. There was little let-up after the break, as Ali Crawford added to the scoresheet, latching onto a Nathan Shaw through ball to cut inside and extend Morton's lead, before the cherry was put on the cake by Zac Delaney, who finished off an excellent move with a rasping drive to score the goal of the game. While we will have to accept that there will be mistakes from a keeper with such youth on his side, Imrie will be aware that the goalkeeping position will have to be addressed, and I suspect an experienced keeper, probably in the form of Charlie Albinson, will be signed before Ton travel to Fir Park next Tuesday, as the boss looks to manage Murdoch's development. Advertisement On the whole however, a very encouraging afternoon for all involved, with Iain Wilson in particular having a terrific game. The Well's dropped points against Clyde open a door for Morton, with home games against the Warriors and Clyde providing an opportunity for Morton to collect at least nine points from the group stage. While the weekend's results will see many Morton fans looking towards the trip to Fir Park as the critical game of the campaign, focus for now will solely be on collecting maximum points tonight. I can see no good reason why we shouldn't be confident that will happen.
