
38 dead, 28 injured after 2 buses collide, catch fire in northern Tanzania
DAR ES SALAAM, June 29, (Xinhua): At least 38 people were killed and 28 others injured on Saturday evening when two buses collided head-on and burst into flames in Moshi district in Tanzania's northern region of Kilimanjaro. The Kilimanjaro regional commissioner, Nurdin Babu, told Xinhua in a phone interview on Sunday that the victims included members of the same family who were traveling to attend a wedding in the Moshi municipality.
Babu said the crash occurred around 5 pm local time (1400 GMT) after a front tire on one of the buses burst, triggering a fire that engulfed both vehicles, causing fatalities in both buses. Babu added that 22 of the 28 injured passengers were treated and discharged from the hospital, while six remain under medical care.

8 killed, 26 injured in blast at chemical factory in India's Telangana
NEW DELHI, June 30, (Xinhua): At least eight people were killed and 26 others injured, some seriously, on Monday in a reactor blast inside a chemical factory in the southern Indian state of Telangana, police said. The blast took place in the Pashamylaram industrial area of Patancheru, Sangareddy district, about 48 km northwest of Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana. Police suspect the death toll may increase, given the critical condition of some of the injured. Reports said around 150 workers were present inside the factory at the time of the blast. Preliminary investigations carried out by the police revealed that a reactor exploded during routine operations at the factory, triggering a massive fire and thus prompting emergency response teams to rush to the site. Television images showed columns of thick black smoke rising from the factory. Senior police official V Satyanaryana told the media the firefighters were trying hard to bring the blaze under control.

11 terrorists surrender to Malian army
BAMAKO, June 30, (Xinhua): Eleven terrorists from the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara, including a senior commander, surrendered to the Malian Armed Forces in the town of Ansongo in northern Mali on Saturday, Malian television ORTM reported on Sunday. Ibrahim Boubacar, also known as Oubel, is the leader of terrorist groups operating in the Tessit area of northern Mali, the report said.
