Holiday parks remain a beloved Great British institution, with millions of families returning year after year to join in the fun. If Butlin's isn't quite the right fit, Haven Holidays is celebrated for breath-taking coastal views and a wealth of caravan accommodations. It's an idyllic choice for those drawn to the call of nature and traditional seaside jaunts, yet it's Butlins that remains unchallenged in delivering top-notch family fun with its array of immersive and themed adventures.
Parkdean Resorts echoes a similar vibe, boasting 66 parks studded along the UK's sought-after coastal regions. Echoing Haven's ethos, Parkdean thrives with inviting swimming pools, convenient on-site dining, and an assortment of seaside activities aimed at families.
Center Parcs holds a special place in the hearts of many families, renowned for its array of activities nestled within the UK's enchanting forests. Although universally adored, the only sting is the cost that's notably steep over school breaks.

Watch as Celebrity Catchphrase star flounders over tricky puzzle & misses out on big money – but could you have got it?
CELEBRITY Catchphrase viewers were left shouting at their screens after one star got completely stumped by a fiendishly tricky puzzle. Comedian Richard Ayoade appeared on the ITV gameshow hosted by Stephen Mulhern in a bid to raise money for charity. 2 After making it through to the final round, Richard had his skills put to one final test, going against the clock to answer questions on the catchphrase pyramid. Poor Richard was left red-faced after picking tile number 10 instead of the all-important number 11 in the Double Money round. The usually cool-as-a-cucumber comic panicked under pressure, stumbling over the clue for a nail-biting 25 seconds before admitting defeat. But could you have got the catchphrase right? The clue showed three whales bobbing in the ocean - two wearing big crowns, and a smaller one with a smaller crown. Richard had many unsuccessful guesses from Royal Whales to Whale Crowns. Do you get it? Host Stephen told Richard he was so close to getting it right - if only he had a little bit more time - before revealing the correct answer was The Prince of Wales. He walked away with a total of £9,300 for his chosen charity, the Refugee Support Network, which benefited from his appearance on the show. Richard first came into the public eye in the early noughties as part of a group of up-and-coming comedians that would frequently work together. Their cult TV hits included The Mighty Boosh, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace and Nathan Barley. Other comedians from this group include Noel Fielding, Julian Barratt and Matt Berry. He won a BAFTA for Best Male Comedy Performance in 2014 for his role in The IT Crowd. He played the computer-smart-but-not-so-streetwise nerd in the smash hit Channel 4 comedy. Hardest Quiz Show Questions Would you know the answers to some of quizzing TV's hardest questions Who Wants To Be A Millionaire - Earlier this year, fans were left outraged after what they described as the "worst" question in the show's history. Host Jeremy Clarkson asked: 'From the 2000 awards ceremony onwards, the Best Actress Oscar has never been won by a woman whose surname begins with which one of these letters?' The multiple choice answers were between G, K, M and W. In the end, and with the £32,000 safe, player Glen had to make a guess and went for G. It turned out to be correct as Nicole Kidman, Frances McDormand and Kate Winslet are among the stars who have won the Best Actress gong since 2000. The 1% Club - Viewers of Lee Mack's popular ITV show were left dumbfounded by a question that also left the players perplexed. The query went as follows: "Edna's birthday is on the 6th of April and Jen's birthday falls on the 15th of October, therefore Amir's birthday must be the 'X' of January." It turns out the conundrum links the numbers with its position in the sentence, so 6th is the sixth word and 15th is the fifteenth word. Therefore, Amir's birthday is January 24th, corresponding to the 24th word in the sentence. The Chase - The ITV daytime favourite left fans scratching their heads when it threw up one of the most bizarre questions to ever grace the programme. One of the questions asked the player: "Someone with a nightshade intolerance should avoid eating what?" The options were - sweetcorn, potatoes, carrots - with Steve selecting sweetcorn but the correct answer was potatoes. Since then, he has turned his hand to writing and directing films. He also made regular appearances on various panel shows, including Have I Got News For You. And Richard became the host of The Crystal Maze after Stephen Merchant, who hosted the Stand Up To Cancer reboot, but pulled out to focus on cracking Hollywood. Celebrity Catchphrase is available on ITVX.

Northampton clown 'buzzing' about return after 11-year break
A clown who started in the industry when he was seven said he was "buzzing" to be back after an 11-year Reed, better known as Clumsy, attended his first clown convention in Bognor Regis as a child, which inspired a 30-year career. He will be performing twice a day, six days a week at Billing Aquadrome holiday park in Northampton as part of its Circus Fiesta event. Mr Reed decided to take a break to settle down with his partner and focus on his business but, after putting on his clown make-up once again, he said: "I feel unbelievable. I look in the mirror and it's shocking." Mr Reed acknowledged a lot of people suffered from coulrophobia, a fear of clowns, which meant he needed to adjust his performance according to the crowd."It's all about the way you approach the situation," he said. "People that are scared end up getting used to me and we have photos together after the show." His fascination with clowns began at the age of three, when he was taken to his first circus, inspiring him to start dressing up and attending said: "My parents always thought I'd grow out of it."Clowning has taken a back seat for over a decade but when he got the call to be a part of the Circus Fiesta, he said he was "buzzing like you wouldn't believe"."It's bonkers how everything's slotted into place. It's like it's meant to be." Follow Northamptonshire news on BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram and X.

Gladiators Butlin's future decided following licensing rights row

A source said: 'Gladiators won't be coming back for 2026 and will be replaced by another headliner. 'The licensing row was a headache — and bosses have decided that it is best to make room for a new act next summer. 'Fans were excited to see the Gladiators but many were left disappointed to find out they were in black tracksuits for some of the performances.' Hungry Bear Media, owned by telly host Holly Willoughby's husband Dan Baldwin, makes Gladiators for the BBC, and is said to have agreed the deal with Butlin's. However it only holds TV rights in the UK while US entertainment giant MGM owns the original format and branding worldwide. In March, photos of the Gladiators were taken off the Butlin's website. But the stars, who are due to appear at the resorts over the summer holidays and in October, have since reappeared in full costume, including Dynamite. A Butlin's spokesman said: 'Meet the Stars of Gladiators are performing as scheduled, and we have not dropped them. 'Our contract was a one-year deal and we're looking forward to having them at all three resorts this summer and for October half-term. "We've got an exciting line-up of new headliners for 2026.'
