Yahoo29-07-2025
Welcome to this edition of THN's Vancouver Canucks 2024-25 Report Card. This recurring 2025 off-season series features a deep dive into how each Canucks player performed last year. Today's article will focus on winger Arshdeep Bains, who finished the season with one points in 13 games.
Bains received a couple of call-ups throughout the 2024-25 season. He also scored his first NHL goal, which came on October 26 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. While he did put forth some noticeable performances at the NHL level, most of his success came in the AHL, where he helped the Abbotsford Canucks capture the 2025 Calder Cup.
There were few players better than Bains during the 2025 Calder Cup Finals. The 24-year-old recorded 10 points in six games, while finishing the playoffs with 24 points in 24 games. Ultimately, Bains showed that he can be relied upon in crucial moments, as he recorded multi-point performances in both Games 5 and 6 of the Finals.

From BC To The Big Club: Arshdeep Bains' Path To The Canucks The forward looks to be in Vancouver's lineup on October 9th's season opener against the Calgary Flames.
After the season was complete, Bains signed a two-year extension with Vancouver. The first year of the deal is a two-way contract, while the second season is a one-way contract. Based on the current roster, Bains will be one of a handful of players fighting for a spot in the bottom six and, if sent to the AHL, will most likely be one of the first forwards called up if injuries or trades occur.
In the end, Bains had a successful third campaign with the organization. He played 13 NHL games and led Abbotsford to a championship. Based on his performance, Bains receives a B+ grade for the 2024-25 season.

Michal Postava: Next Great Red Wings Czech Goaltender?

Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman has managed to re-stock prospect pool that had been nearly completely barren upon his arrival back to the franchise in April 2019. Not only has Yzerman been known for his savvy drafting, but also willingness to take flyers on players who went un-drafted. One such player is goaltender Michal Postava, who was recently inked to a two-year, entry-level contract by the Red Wings and now represents the latest intriguing figure in Detroit's goalie prospect pool which already includes Sebastian Cossa and Trey Augustine. Postava, who originally hails from Valasske Mezirici, Czechia, understandably has an affinity for Czech-born goaltenders. Bookmark The Hockey News Detroit Red Wings team site to stay connected to the latest news, game-day coverage, and player features. 'I'm a big fan of all the Czech goalies who played in the NHL,' Postava said as originally reported by Bob Duff of Detroit Hockey Now. '(Dominik) Hasek was among the first ones I watched. Petr Mrazek is one of them, as well as a lot of other guys.' Hasek spent three separate stints during his Hall of Fame NHL career with the Red Wings, the first and third of which resulted in him lifting the Stanley Cup and shortly announcing his retirement from the NHL afterward. Mrazek has now played two stints with Detroit, the second of which lasted only a few months after being re-acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks in March. In late June, the Red Wings traded him to the Anaheim Ducks as part of the deal to acquire John Gibson. Before Mrazek's trade to the Ducks, he briefly spent some time with Postava at the Red Wings' annual Development Camp at Little Caesars Arena. "Yeah, we were talking maybe three days before he got traded,' Postava said. 'So he was welcoming me and telling me to be proud and try hard every day.' Not only is it a prideful thing to be signed by an NHL club, but Postava would love to be Detroit's next great Czech goaltender. "I'm enjoying every moment, and I'm proud to be a part of this organization," he said. 'There have always been a lot of Czechs here, and they are still active in the organization," he continued. "Plus, it's a big club from the Original Six. It's a huge opportunity for me." Speaking of Czechs who are still in the organization, former Red Wings defenseman Jiri Fischer, who had his career come to a frightening end in November 2005 with a near-fatal cardiac event at Joe Louis Arena, currently serves as Detroit's Director of Player Evaluation and gave Postava the inside scoop. 'I talked to Jiri Fisher, and he was telling me like, everywhere what happens and everything that was done here,' Postava said. 'He helped me a lot to get here.' Postava played in 42 games last season for HC Kometa Brno in the Czech Extraliga, and amassed a record of 23-18-0 with an impressive .921 save percentage and three shutouts. He'll be a participant in Training Camp for the Red Wings next month, and could see playing time in the American Hockey League with the Grand Rapids Griffins. Ex-Miami Heat security worker stole and sold $2M in NBA gear, including LeBron James Finals jersey: feds

A former Miami Heat security worker stole millions of dollars worth of franchise memorabilia — including a LeBron James game-worn NBA Finals jersey — and sold it on the black market, federal officials announced. Marcos Thomas Perez, 62, snatched over 400 game-worn jerseys and other items when he worked for the Miami Heat from 2016 to 2021 and later as an NBA security employee from 2022 to 2025, prosecutors in the Southern District of Florida alleged. Current Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo has appeared in the NBA Finals twice. NBAE via Getty Images Advertisement Over a three-year period, Perez, also a retired 25-year-veteran of the Miami Police Department, allegedly sold $2 million worth of gear that he lifted from the team's equipment room, according to prosecutors. Perez is accused of pedaling the stolen jerseys at a steep discount. That 2013 James Finals jersey was auctioned at Sotheby's in 2023 and raked in $3.7 million — making it the third most expensive jersey in the auction house's history, ESPN reported — but it was originally sold by Perez for merely $100,000, the feds alleged. Advertisement The jersey was from Game 7 of the 2013 Finals in which James torched the San Antonio Spurs for 37 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists in the championship-clinching game. LeBron James' 2013 Game 7 NBA Finals jersey was amongst the many items allegedly stolen by Perez and resold on the cheap. AFP via Getty Images When police officials raided Perez' home on April 3, they found hundreds more pieces of memorabilia, including more game-worn jerseys, stashed in his Miami-area home, according to the release. Many of the stolen items were intended to be displayed in a future Miami Heat museum, the team told federal investigators. Perez is charged with transporting and transferring stolen goods in interstate commerce.
