Trump Mobile drops ‘made in USA' smartphone claims from website

Trump Mobile, the new cellular service venture introduced by the Trump Organisation last week, has scrubbed online references that originally promised its first mobile handset, the T1 Phone, would be produced in the US.

The Trump Mobile website quietly removed language stating that the smartphone – due later this year – is
'made in the USA' , tech news outlet The Verge reported on Wednesday. Instead, the page now includes less specific wording that says the T1 Phone has been 'designed with American values in mind'.
According to the description, the T1 Phone is 'brought to life right here in the USA' and 'with American hands behind every device'. But the website no longer asserts that it will be manufactured domestically.
The device's hardware specifications have also changed. Originally, Trump Mobile advertised the T1 Phone as having a 6.78-inch screen, but that has now been adjusted to a slightly smaller 6.25 inches.

The website had promised 'a sleek, gold smartphone engineered for performance and proudly designed and built in the United States for customers who expect the best from their mobile carrier'.

Trump says US to tell countries ‘what they have to pay', sees China, India deals soon

With the July 9 deadline for 'Liberation Day' tariffs nearing, US President Donald Trump said on Friday that Washington would inform countries 'what they have to pay' to do business with America 'over the next week and a half or so'. His remarks came hours after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent suggested trade talks could continue to September. Trump also directed a new salvo at Canada, announcing an immediate halt to trade talks in retaliation for Ottawa's plan to introduce a digital trade tax that could largely target American tech firms. 'At a certain point, over the next week and a half or so, or maybe before, we're going to send out a letter. We talked to many other countries, and we are just going to tell them what they have to pay to do business in the United States. And it's going to go very quickly,' Trump told reporters. He said he sent the letter because Washington has '200 countries' to negotiate with and the administration 'can't do that'. Trump indicated he expected agreements with China and India soon.

US Treasury chief says key trade deals may come by September

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Friday that Washington could reach key tariff deals with over a dozen partners in the coming months and have its trade agenda wrapped up by early September. His comments to Fox Business come ahead of a July 9 deadline for steeper US duties to kick in on dozens of economies. Countries have been rushing to negotiate and reach trade pacts with Washington to avoid this outcome, although the White House recently suggested that President Donald Trump's administration could extend this deadline. On Friday, Bessent noted that Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has expressed expectations for 10 deals with trading partners. The Treasury chief reiterated that there are 18 key partners the United States is focusing on agreements with. 'If we can ink 10 or 12 of the important 18, there are another important 20 relationships, then I think we could have trade wrapped up by Labour Day,' Bessent said. That holiday falls on September 1.
