IMF Approves $1 Billion Disbursement to Pakistan

Taarek Refaat
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Board approved a review of Pakistan's loan program on Friday, enabling the disbursement of nearly $1 billion in much-needed financing.
It also approved a new $1.4 billion bailout package, despite India's objections.
The IMF said in a statement, "The Pakistani authorities have demonstrated strong commitment to program implementation, contributing to improved financing and external conditions and continued economic recovery."
It is worth noting that India—which also represents Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh on the IMF's Executive Board—abstained from voting, amid ongoing tensions with Pakistan.

25 Injured After US Delta Flight Hit by Turbulence

Israa Farhan At least 25 people were injured and transported to a hospital after a Delta Airlines flight encountered severe turbulence, forcing an emergency landing in Minneapolis, Minnesota. According to Bloomberg, the Airbus A330neo had been airborne for less than an hour into its scheduled nine-hour journey from Salt Lake City, Utah, to Amsterdam when the pilots were forced to divert due to dangerous flying conditions. The airline confirmed the incident in an official statement. Delta stated that Flight DL 268 landed safely at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport following the unexpected turbulence. Emergency medical teams responded immediately to assist the injured passengers and crew. The aircraft was carrying 275 passengers and 13 crew members at the time of the incident. Local hospitals received the injured individuals for further evaluation and treatment. The airline has not yet released full details on the nature of the turbulence or the severity of injuries. However, such incidents have raised growing concerns about in-flight safety, especially amid increasing reports of weather-related disruptions linked to climate change. The incident highlights the importance of always wearing seatbelts during flights, even when the seatbelt sign is off, as sudden turbulence can occur without warning. Delta Airlines is cooperating with aviation authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the emergency landing. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

Rwanda's Parliament Approves US-Brokered Peace Deal with DR Congo

Israa Farhan Rwanda's Parliament has unanimously ratified the peace agreement signed with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on June 27 in Washington, marking a significant step forward in efforts to ease long-standing tensions between the two countries. The vote took place on Wednesday evening in Kigali following a briefing by Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe. During his address, the minister reiterated that Rwanda's defensive measures along the border will only be lifted once the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) militia is dismantled. He outlined the steps necessary to achieve this security goal. Nduhungirehe also emphasized that Rwanda would not wait passively in the face of potential threats, referencing the devastating events of 1994. He called on international mediators to intensify their efforts to ensure Kinshasa fulfils its obligations under the peace deal brokered by the United States. The June 27 agreement, facilitated in Washington, was previously approved by Rwanda's Cabinet and has now advanced through the lower house of Parliament. The next stage is approval by the Rwandan Senate, which will determine its final ratification. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

US Secures $350 Bln Deal with South Korea

Israa Farhan Former US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday a significant new trade agreement with South Korea, marking a major shift in economic relations between the two allies. In a statement published on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump confirmed that the United States has agreed to impose a 15% tariff on South Korean imports, while South Korean goods entering the US will face no new duties. This decision follows earlier warnings by Trump to introduce a 25% tariff on South Korean products starting 1 August. According to US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, the newly established tariff rate will also apply to automobile imports, a critical sector in South Korea's export portfolio. Trump further revealed that South Korea will invest $350 billion in the United States. These investments will be under full American ownership and control, with project selections made directly by Trump in his capacity as President. In addition to the investment pledge, Seoul has reportedly agreed to purchase $100 billion worth of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and other American energy products. The trade agreement also includes provisions for increased acceptance of US-made goods, such as vehicles and agricultural products, in South Korean markets. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results
