Arsenal 'moaner' offered exit option but transfer depends on Liverpool decision
Arsenal star Leandro Trossard has emerged as a target for Bayern Munich, who are keen to strengthen their forward line this summer. Leroy Sane, Mathys Tel and Thomas Muller have all left the club, while Jamal Musiala is set to miss the majority of next season after breaking his leg at the Club World Cup.
Bayern were linked with a move for Nico Williams, but the Spain star has signed a new 10-year contract with Athletic Bilbao that includes a release clause worth around £75million. And it now appears as though a move for Trossard could be on the cards.
Trossard is being lined up as a potential alternative to Liverpool star Luis Diaz, according to a report from Bild. Bayern, it's claimed have lodged a £45m offer for Diaz, but Liverpool do not want to sell and especially not at that price.
Bayern are among a number of clubs weighing up a move for Trossard, with talks over a new deal at Arsenal having stalled as a result. Trossard recently appointed Dirk Hebel as his agent and it is noted that he has an existing relationship with Bayern's sporting director Max Eberl.
Trossard has spent three seasons at Arsenal, scoring 28 goals and producing 23 assists in 124 appearances across all competitions, and Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is a big fan of the Belgian international.
Speaking last year, Arteta hailed Trossard's competitive streak and "capacity to do something special" after jokingly branding him a "moaner".
Arteta said: "Yeah, Leo is naturally a bit of a moaner but I like that because he's very competitive and you have training sessions, he's always busy with the referee's decision, because he wants to win.
"That's what I love. He always wants to be the best and when he's not there, he's not happy. But that's what pushes him. That's where he comes in on the pitch, he can make an impact because he's got that drive, that anger which says: 'I'm gonna show you.'
"I love that about him. He's a really good character. They all want to play. Always want to play. Leo has shown a lot more consistency in the last 12 months, he's deserved that.
"He's had a lot of competition in his position. That's it. Raise the level. If he plays at that level then he will play like anyone else. He has the capacity to do something special in the final third.
"He's played and with us he's played as a left winger, as an attacking midfielder, he's played as a nine and he's a player that I value a lot, we value a lot, because he's very versatile and very competitive and he's a massive goal threat for the team. Really happy with him."

The report concludes the risk of the move falling through completely is now high. Sporting's demands over add-on fees have been the source of the frustration. Arsenal have offered a €63.5 million (£54.9m) up front, plus a further €10m (£8.6m) in bonuses. The Gunners are then proposing €5m (£4.3m) plus a further €5m in add-ons but Sporting are demanding €7.5m (£6.4m) as the first payment. Arsenal had hoped to reach an agreement before Mikel Arteta's squad leave London for their pre-season tour of Asia on Saturday. But the squad set off without a deal done and the move still in real doubt. Last weekend, Spring president Frederico Varandas issued a statement warning Arsenal they will not be strong-armed into a deal. Liverpool handed another transfer boost as Adam Wharton makes decision on joining
Liverpool have splashed some serious cash this summer but they would still like to add Adam Wharton their squad if the Crystal Palace midfielder can be tempted to move Adam Wharton is set to shun interest from elsewhere to stay with Crystal Palace this season, leaving Liverpool in pole position to sign the midfield maestro next year. The Sun say that Wharton is ready to put a blockbuster transfer on hold until next year given he is happy at Palace. That would potentially give Liverpool an advantage over their rivals if Wharton moves next summer rather than imminently, given they have already spent close to £200million in the transfer window. The report goes on to add that Liverpool have been lining up a move for Wharton 'for some time' and remain keen on adding him to their squad, albeit they have prioritised strengthening in other areas.
