Kanpur Metro employee drowns while bathing in Saryu River in UP's Ballia
Ranjeet, a local of Guloura Mathia village, was on leave and had returned home a few days ago.
On Thursday evening, he went to bathe in the river near the local Shiva temple.
When he did not emerge from the water for a long time, the concerned locals nearby alerted the police.
Ubhaon Station House Officer Rajendra Prasad Singh said the police reached the spot and, with the help of locals, pulled Ranjeet out of the river.
Ranjeet was taken to the Community Health Centre in Siyar, where doctors declared him dead.
His body has been sent for post-mortem, the SHO added.

Lucknow: A schoolteacher in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly district has landed in trouble over a song that purportedly referred to the Kanwar Yatra, an annual procession undertaken by Shiva devotees. Rajneesh Gangwar, a teacher at MGM Inter College in the Baheri police station area, was seen in the viral video singing the song to students who had gathered in the school premises. The song included the lyrics: " Kanwar leke mat jana, tum gyan ka deep jalana, manavta ke seva karke tum sachche manav ban jaana," which roughly translates to: "Don't bring Kanwars, go light the lamp of knowledge. Become a true human by serving humanity." A case was filed against the teacher last night after a local corporator and some BJP leaders approached the police and demanded action. "In the Baheri police station area, MGM Inter College teacher Rajneesh Gangwar had made some objectionable comments about Kanwar Yatra through poetry before the students. We have filed a case and are investigating the matter," said Circle Officer Arun Kumar Singh. Ajit Kumar Singh, the district inspector of schools, said the video appears to be old and that it was circulated again to stir the sentiments of people during the Kanwar Yatra. An inquiry was conducted into the video, and the teacher had also provided a clarification, he was quoted as saying in reports. Kanwar Yatra is a mega annual pilgrimage for Shiva Devotees held every year during the month of Sawan. This year, the yatra is being held from July 11 to 23.

Case against YouTuber for AI video on Karnataka temple town mass burial case
A YouTuber has been booked by the Karnataka police in connection with the ongoing Dharmasthala murder disposal case, for allegedly publishing a misleading video generated using artificial intelligence. The video is said to have falsely represented facts related to a sensational complaint recently filed by a former sanitation worker. The man, in his complaint, accused officials linked to a prominent religious institution in Dharmasthala of forcing him to dispose of human remains over several to the police, the YouTuber Sameer MD, has been booked under various relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with charges such as fabricating false evidence, giving false information regarding an offence and statements with the intent to create public mischief. The complaint was lodged at the Dharmasthala police station in Dakshina Kannada district. Officials confirmed that the video, which was circulated on YouTube, included fabricated content not present in any official complaint or judicial record, and contributed to public unrest. The video is linked to the Sadri case, which surfaced earlier this month when a man came forward alleging he had been coerced into disposing of the bodies of murder victims during his time as a sanitation worker for the Dharmasthala temple administration between 1995 and 2014. The complainant, whose identity remains undisclosed due to threats to his life, claimed that several of the victims were women who appeared to have been sexually his signed complaint dated July 3, the man recounted being ordered to bury or burn corpses across Dharmasthala and facing death threats for resisting. He said he had been assaulted and warned that his family would be killed if he revealed what he had seen. He claimed his predecessor had 'disappeared' under similar circumstances and said he eventually fled Dharmasthala in 2014 following an alleged assault on a female family member by someone connected to his response, police confirmed they had registered a case under Section 211(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and are seeking court permission to exhume sites mentioned in the complaint. The Superintendent of Police assured that the investigation will be carried out with confidentiality and same YouTuber was earlier booked for creating a similar video about the 2012 rape and murder of a student. The Karnataka High Court had subsequently ordered that video to be removed.
