Queen of Malaysia supports Johor princes at GT World Challenge Asia
The royal presence was confirmed through a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar's official Facebook page.
Tunku Abu Bakar and his teammate Jordan Love, driving car #66, secured their first podium finish of the season by taking third place in the first race.
Meanwhile, Tunku Abdul Rahman and Ben Green, in car #99, delivered a steady performance, finishing eighth.
His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, who monitored the race from Kuala Lumpur, expressed pride in his youngest son's achievement.
'I am grateful that Tunku Putera achieved a good result this time and hope that he and his brother (Tunku Panglima) will continue to give strong competition in tomorrow's second race,' the post read.
The event also saw the attendance of Raja DiHilir Perak Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah, along with Tunku Tun Aminah Sultan Ibrahim and her husband, Datuk Dennis Muhammad Abdullah.
Both Johor Motorsports Racing (JMR) Corvette Z06 GT3.R cars will start the second race from the front row after securing first (car #99) and second (car #66) positions in the qualifying round.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia's next generation of hockey talent made a strong statement by finishing third place at the Under-18 Asia Cup in China on Sunday (July 13). Malaysia finished on the podium in their debut outing after defeating Bangladesh 5-2 in the third-fourth placing fixture at the Dazhou National Hockey Training Centre. The newly assembled youth team struck first when Hisyammudin Abdul Rani scored a field goal six minutes in, but the scoreline was quickly evened by Bangladesh's Md Mehedi four minutes later. The action resumed in the third quarter when Rahuul Fazrien Mohd Nazrien scored a field goal in the 41st minute, but that was quickly replied by Jony Islam just seconds later. All even in the last quarter, Rahuul once again stepped up and put Malaysia ahead in the 49th minute, which was followed up by Abdul Hamzah Yahkip the next minute with another field goal. Malaysia fell short of making the final after Pakistan beat them 4-3 in the penalty shootouts following a 3-3 draw in regulation time of the semi-final. Early danger in Tokyo for Tang Jie-Ee Wei
KUALA LUMPUR: Mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei's hopes of winning their first World Tour tournament this year will face a stern early test at the Japan Open which begins on Tuesday. While world No. 4 Tang Jie-Ee Wei should beat Canada's world No. 144 Kevin Lee-Josephine Wu in the first round, they are expected to face China's All England champions Guo Xin Wa-Chen Fang Hui in the second round. That is a match fraught with danger for the Malaysian pair though the young China duo are ranked five rungs lower in the world rankings. National doubles coaching director Rexy Mainaky said Tang Jie-Ee Wei must get past Xin Wa-Gang Hui if they are to win the title in Tokyo. "A big challenge for Tang Jie-Ee Wei against the Chinese All England champions, but it will be a boost for them for the matches after that," said Rexy. "In terms of preparation, Tang Jie-Ee Wei are ready for the Japan Open. Everything in training has been looked into, and they just need to go with the momentum." Tang Jie-Ee Wei had a commendable run in the second half of last year — where they won the Korea Open and finished seocnd at the World Tour Finals — but had a brief split-up in March due to personal differences.
