Twins beat Rays on walk-off bunt by Brooks Lee
With the game tied 5-5 and no outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, Lee squared up to squeeze in Byron Buxton from third base. Rays first baseman Yandy Díaz attempted to make a play, but the ball bounced off his glove and left the final play of the game as a bunt hit.

The Twins celebrated the walk-off all the same:
It took a comeback just for the Twins to be in that position in the ninth, as they entered the bottom of the sixth inning down 5-1. A four-run rally tied the game, capped off by Kody Clemens' 10th homer of the season.
Lee didn't enter the game until the seventh inning, pinch-hitting for Trevor Larnach against the left-handed Mason Montgomery. He flied out on his first at-bat, but made good with the same platoon advantage in the ninth. It's his second walk-off hit of the year, his first being a more traditional single on May 24.
It was also the Twins' second straight game with a walk-off, having won on a Harrison Bader solo shot on Friday.

The win improves the Twins' record to 43-46, still good for second place in the AL Central. They remain 3.5 games back for the third wild-card spot in the AL, currently held by the Seattle Mariners, and 12 games back from the league-best Detroit Tigers.

49ers Urged To Sign Purdy Protector Amid Impending Retirement
49ers Urged To Sign Purdy Protector Amid Impending Retirement originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The San Francisco 49ers have a decent offensive line. In their offseason rankings, Pro Football Network has them placed as the 15th best unit in the NFL with a respectable 80.2 grade. Advertisement Most of that production is credited to All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams, who is among the most respected and feared linemen in football when he's on the field. Last season, however, he dealt with injury and the rest of the unit saw a concerning drop in production during his absence. Williams, who is about to turn 37, is in the twilight of his career, and while he hasn't slowed down much, retirement is imminent in the next few years. That is why ESPN believes the 49ers should get ahead of business with the rest of the offensive line and re-sign right tackle Colton McKivitz. "McKivitz's contract ends after the 2025 season, and the 49ers don't want to be stuck having to replace both tackles at the same time," reporter Aaron Schatz wrote. Advertisement This shouldn't be a major contract, but maybe a two-year cushion should suffice and protect the 49ers from the event of a surprise Williams retirement. McKivitz has starting experience in San Fran and has shown considerable improvement each season, but he's still got a long way to go in ultimately filling Williams' shoes. The 2020 fifth rounder had a down season in 2024, ranking 52nd out of 66 qualifying tackles with an 85.9 percent pass block win rate. As a group, the Niners O-line struggled more in protecting the pass than the run, especially toward the end of the year without Williams in the lineup. PFN noted that the 49ers gave up a 37.1 percent pressure rate to opposing rushers. That number seems inflated, but it isn't all the fault of the offensive line. Quarterback Brock Purdy held onto the ball for an average of over three seconds in the pocket, which was the sixth-highest mark in the league. Advertisement San Francisco is likely to let this season play out with McKivitz on a contract year, hoping he is motivated to perform at a high level and earn his next deal. Williams has assured fans that he believes he can play until he's at least 40, but on a relatively aging offense around young QB Purdy, it's never a bad thing to have long-term stability at crucial positions. How one Jaguars free agent signing has impressed Liam Coen, Trevor Lawrence this offseason
The Jacksonville Jaguars view wide receiver Dyami Brown as an ascending player. It's why the team prioritized signing him during free agency back in March. Brown put together a fantastic postseason with Washington this past season, which included totaling 229 receiving yards over three games, but overall throughout his career, he hasn't had all that much production. In fact, his 30 receptions and 308 yards in the 2024 regular season were both career highs. Advertisement But in Jacksonville, Brown will get more opportunities. However, opportunities in this regard don't only refer to the number of targets that may come his way, but it's also about what he's asked to do within this Liam Coen offense. With impressive speed, Brown can provide the Jaguars with a vertical presence who can stretch the field. He can also get the ball near the line of scrimmage on designed touches where his YAC abilities can take over. We saw a lot of that from Brown during his tenure with the Commanders. But Coen sees a wideout who can impact all three levels of the field, which is something that Brown is going to be asked to do with the Jaguars as they expand his route tree. "You didn't really see him work the intermediate that much [in Washington], and I think over the course of this spring, Trevor and him have gained a little bit of a chemistry on some of those intermediate in-breakers, curls, maybe outcuts," Coen said, via Michael DiRocco of ESPN. Advertisement "... Part of the selling point to have him come here was, 'Man, we really want to continue to diversify your route tree and have you do more. You're not just a screen, jet sweep, vertical threat.'" Having receivers who can make an impact at each level of the field and do so in a variety of ways adds to that multiplicity element that Coen wants present in this offense. It becomes very difficult for defenses to get a beat on what's coming based on who is on the field or where players are lined up if each pass catcher can run a number of different routes. Through the OTA and minicamp practices, Brown has made a strong impression, not only with Coen but with quarterback Trevor Lawrence as well. 'Man, I've been super impressed with him," Lawrence said during minicamp. "His speed. Obviously, he is a threat down the field, which is important as a receiver who can stretch the field. But also, he's a really, really smart football player. Advertisement "He's picked up the system really quickly. He's always in the right spot. I think that's something about him, I don't know if you guys watched plenty of practices, he's gotten the ball a lot because it seems like he's always in the right spot."
