ROB CROSS admits being banned as a company director for unpaid tax is 'not the proudest moment' of his life.
The World No.9 has spoken for the first time after being disqualified from acting as a company director for five years after his business failed to pay more than £450,000 in tax.

Four-time major winner Cross set about making it right and has entered into an Individual Voluntary Arrangement to repay the money.
He said: 'It's not the proudest moment of my life. I've done wrong, and I'll hold my hands up to it.
'Going down this route with the IVA to pay the money back means I'm not running. I suppose you make mistakes in life.
'I'm willing to correct them; it's going to tarnish me, but I'm going to do the right thing.

'It's been going on for two years. It has taken two years to get to something of a resolution. It's cost me a lot of money to get there.
'It needs to be paid back. This isn't new news to me. I was probably suffering more than two years ago with it.'
He added: 'I have to admit it's the only thing I am happy with. It's sorted, it's there now. I can just carry on working, pay it back and move forward.
'I was surprised it took the best part of two years to come out. It was a long wait, but there were so many complicated things.

'The UK government didn't want me to go bankrupt, which is rightfully so, and I don't think I've needed to.
'I'm sorry to let all of my fans down. I will get it sorted and get back on my feet. Hopefully, it won't linger over me for the rest of my life.'

Former world champion Cross returns to action today as he begins the defense of his US Masters title against Danny Lauby at Madison Square Garden.
Cross believes his game is in a good place and he is buzzing to defend the crown in New York.
He said: 'Absolutely amazing. I was buzzing walking in. Such an iconic arena. I've been here twice.
'It's been my third time this year. I loved it from day one, but winning it last year was very, very special.
'I've had some new darts and I have to admit, I'm not going to lie, I've had a massive rest.
'I've rested up and sort of tried to build the batteries, that was the aim.
'Even basing it off Copenhagen, I thought I played steady and I was consistent and I never really practised there much, so I'm good.
'I'm mentally good and that's where I need to be.'

David Croft absent from Austrian GP as Sky Sports F1 commentator replaced
Sky Sports F1 lead commentator David Croft is absent from the Austrian Grand Prix this weekend with viewers set to hear the voice of Crofty's understudy instead Sky Sports viewers will hear a less familiar voice on commentary at this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix. That is because, for the second time this year, usual lead broadcaster David Croft will not be in attendance at the Formula 1 race. 'Crofty' is part of the furniture at Sky Sports, having served as lead commentator ever since the broadcaster secured the rights to show F1 in the UK and Ireland in 2012. And for many years, he was ever-present at all races while the presenting and punditry team around him would rotate. But these days the F1 calendar is larger than ever with 24 races per season. And so, in 2024, Croft took the decision to miss three races in the season to recharge and spent more time with his family and has repeated that plan this year. He sat out the Emilia Romagna, Austrian and Azerbaijan Grands Prix last season, and chose to skip the same trio of events this term. On each occasion, Harry Benjamin has been called up to fill in and he is behind the microphone again for this weekend's race in Spielberg. Benjamin is less experienced in motorsport broadcasting but has been covering F1 for BBC Radio 5 Live since 2022. The year before, he was hired as the lead presenter for F1's support series including Formula 2, Formula 3 and the Porsche Supercup. He debuted for Sky's F1 coverage at the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix as they put on an alternative, kid-friendly broadcast of that event, in partnership with Formula One Management. Croft was still commentating on the main feed on that occasion, alongside long-time partner Martin Brundle. But it was when Croft opted against a trip to Italy for the 2024 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix that Benjamin received his first call-up to commentate on Sky's main coverage. He returned for the Austria and Azerbaijan races that year and is set to complete the same trio this term. That means this is Benjamin's second appearance of the year on the Sky feed, having already appeared at the Imola race in May. He is likely to return for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix ins September. Croft said last year of his plans to take some breaks: "I'm not getting any younger. I've given up and sacrificed a lot for my career. I want to give a bit of time back to my family and not be on the other side of the world." His decision to skip the Austria race means he will be able to spend more than a month at home in the UK since returning from the Canadian Grand Prix. His next appearance will be at Silverstone next weekend and he won't need to get on a plane again until the last week of July when he will head to the Belgian Grand Prix.

Williams scored two of the tourists' eight tries in an impressive 50 minutes on the pitch, but there will be huge concern in the Lions camp tonight after the Gloucester man sustained an injury while scoring his second. After good link-up play with Mack Hansen, Williams dotted the ball down in acrobatic fashion but immediately clutched his left hamstring when rising from the turf. Farrell has now provided an update on the former Cardiff Rugby number nine, saying on Sky Sports post-match: "It's a tight hamstring, so. "You don't know what these things are like. Hopefully it's a bit of cramp. We'll assess that, certainly in the morning." On the game, Farrell added: "Again, a new-ish team. Plenty of learning from last week and the same again from this week. "When we get out composure in the second half we were able be nice and calm. "I mean, let's be honest, the Force took it to us. I thought they played a tough high-percentage game. They kept the ball really well and we kept them in good field position through our ill-discipline. "It was a real good test for us in that first half, glad how we composed ourselves at half-time and kept our composure throughout the second half. "There are nine new caps there. A couple of lads have not played they will get to play in the next couple of games. "It is nice to get tries on the board and a few good individual performances. That is all good for the future, and we have to keep pushing one another.
