Brentford director of football Phil Giles 'wouldn't be massively surprised' if Bryan Mbeumo is still at the club next season.
The Cameroon winger, 25, has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, who submitted an improved bid in the region of £60million around a week ago.
Giles, speaking on Monday afternoon at the unveiling of new head coach Keith Andrews, said the London club would be 'open' to a deal which was 'right for us financially', but insisted Mbeumo staying put was 'not off the table'.
'In terms of expectations, I don't actually know where that will end up,' Giles said. 'If he's here next season I wouldn't be massively surprised, it would be welcomed, we would be delighted.'

— Manchester United (@ManUtd) June 30, 2025
Manchester United defender Jonny Evans has been handed the task of helping to progress the careers of the club's young players after confirming his retirement as a player.
The 37-year-old, who won the Champions League, three Premier League titles, the FA Cup and two League Cups during his two stints at Old Trafford, has been appointed head of loans and pathways.
Evans' role will see him work closely with director of football Jason Wilcox and the director of academy to ease developing talent into the first team.
He told the club's official website: 'I want to officially announce my retirement from my playing career, not with sadness, but with pride, gratitude and excitement for the next chapter ahead.'

The Prince of Wales has pitched in with the Lionesses' preparations for Euro 2025, helping to print names and numbers on shirts the team will wear in Switzerland, and wishing the squad 'the best of luck' for the tournament.
William, who is patron of the Football Association, chatted with England head coach Sarina Wiegman and presented match jerseys to all 23 squad members at the St George's Park.
In a brief personal address to the players, who begin their title defence with a group game against France in Zurich on Saturday, the prince said: 'I just want to say the best of luck to all of you.
'I have seen a few of you and said that to your faces. I know there is a good mixture of those who have been and done a few tournaments before and those whose first tournament it is.'
Eagles' Europe fate left up in the air
Crystal Palace must wait to learn whether they will be admitted to next season's Europa League or not (Nick Potts/PA)
UEFA has postponed a decision on whether or not to admit Crystal Palace into next season's Europa League.
Palace thought they had secured a place in Europe's second-tier club competition thanks to their FA Cup final win over Manchester City in May but uncertainty arose as to whether they would be allowed to enter due to UEFA's multi-club ownership rules.
Outgoing Palace shareholder John Textor has an interest in French club Lyon, who qualified for the same competition.
UEFA announced on Monday it needed more time to make a ruling and said Lyon had reached a settlement which would exclude them from European competition next season if a decision to relegate them to the French second tier was upheld.
What's on today
Real Madrid face Juventus in a heavyweight Club World Cup battle in Miami, with the winners taking on either Borussia Dortmund or Monterrey, who meet in Atlanta.
Meanwhile, anticipation will be building ahead of Euro 2025, which gets under way on Wednesday.

Enzo Maresca's nine-man Chelsea attacking plan puts Arsenal on transfer alert

Enzo Maresca wants to have nine attacking players in his Chelsea squad next season, and that could lead to exits for one or more of his current crop of Blues stars Chelsea's desire to have nine attackers in their first-team squad for next season could end up pushing three of their current players out - including Arsenal target Noni Madueke. Blues boss Enzo Maresca is said to want a first-team squad of 22 or 23 players going into the new Premier League season, with up to nine of those being attack-minded. ‌ Chelsea have already added Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro to their ranks this summer, and as it stands their attacking ranks will be made up of the new trio, Madueke, Cole Palmer, Pedro Neto, Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku and exciting new Brazilian youngster Willian Estevao, who will join from Palmeiras having agreed his switch last summer. ‌ But The Telegraph report that three of that number, namely Madueke, Jackson and Nkunku, are vulnerable to Chelsea launching further attacking moves this summer as they remain linked with several names. Of those three, England international winger Madueke would be seen as the most interesting player on the market. The Telegraph report adds that Chelsea would be willing to listen to offers for the 23-year-old with Arsenal known to be admirers. The Gunners are looking to revamp their attacking options this summer, and are growing closer towards completing a deal for the Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyokeres, who has emerged as their main striker target ahead of RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko. The Gunners are also being strongly linked with a move for Madueke's England international team-mate Eberechi Eze, who is said to be open to leaving Crystal Palace to return to a club where he was on the books as a youngster. ‌ Chelsea have also been linked with Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho, Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike and West Ham star Mohammed Kudus this summer, with any move for one or more of those players putting the Stamford Bridge futures of Madueke, Jackson and/or Nkunku in peril. Young Blues forwards Tyrique George and Marc Guiu could be sent out on loan to gain some valuable first-team experience, while there is no future at the club for either Raheem Sterling or Joao Felix, and Mykhailo Mudryk is still facing up his potential doping ban.

Man United 'are offered THREE players for Jadon Sancho' in ambitious swap deal that could see Red Devils finally shift the winger

Manchester United have been offered three players in a potential swap deal for Jadon Sancho, according to a report. Sancho hasn't played for United since publicly falling out with former manager Erik ten Hag in a clash that saw the former England winger hit back after the Dutchman had criticised his training levels. He then went on loan to former side Borussia Dortmund in Germany, before penning a season-long temporary stay at Chelsea that saw the Blues given the option to make it permanent for £25million at the end of the campaign. The London club did, though, decide not to do that, and ended up paying £5m to ensure Sancho would return back to United. He still has one year left remaining on his deal. There has, meanwhile, been no indication that current boss Ruben Amorim has any intention of integrating Sancho back into his squad, and the winger continues to be linked with a move away this summer. Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, the most recent chance for United to get rid of the star involves Juventus offering three players in a potential exchange deal. One of those players is no stranger to the Premier League, with Douglas Luiz having played for Aston Villa between 2019 and 2024, joining from Manchester City. Luiz has seemingly been on the chopping block at the Italian side for a long time, and could well make the move back to the English top flight and join United. It is also reported that the 27-year-old has been mentioned as a potential player in any swap deal for United winger Antony, who spent much of last season on loan in Spain with Real Betis. The second player offered for Sancho, meanwhile, is reportedly Dusan Vlahovic. Vlahovic is for sale in Turin, having scored 17 goals in 44 games last season. In total, he has netted 58 times for Juventus since joining from Fiorentina in 2022. The third and final player is thought to be Timothy Weah. Weah, formerly of Celtic and Lille, is an attack-minded right back and also a regular at international level with the United States. It is reported that United were made aware that all three players are for sale, though it is is unclear if all three would have been involved in a deal for Sancho. The idea is said to have only been raised during negotiations about the Englishman. Juventus are thought to be keen on signing Sancho, with no issues arising over a potential transfer fee. They aren't, though, believed to want to cover Sancho's full £250,000-a-week salary. Last month, meanwhile, it was reported that Sancho had agreed terms with Napoli, but no move materialised. Sancho is hoping to reinvigorate his career but it appears United are struggling to shift him. Despite his past success in Germany, Dortmund are not keen on offering him a route out of Manchester.
