You can get Dhs400 off your Careem car rental this summer
The homegrown super app has launched a limited-time car rental deal, giving drivers across Abu Dhabi Dhs400 off on two-month bookings.
Running from June 15 to July 15, the promotion is ideal for those seeking to cruise through the warmer months with a little more independence (and air conditioning).
Whether you're running errands, heading to the office, or escaping to cooler climes on the East Coast, you can now do it without the hassle of car ownership.
The deal is available through Careem's car rental partner, Swapp and includes a wide range of vehicles like Mazda 6, Hyundai Creta and Volvo S90, with prices starting from Dhs2,340 before discount. Just use the code 'SUMMER400AUH' and the savings are yours.
Careem's car rental service is designed for ease so there's no deposit required and same-day delivery means your chosen ride could be parked at your doorstep just hours after booking. Everything happens via the Careem app too, so there's no paperwork, no long queues and no waiting around.
Bookings range from short to long-term, but the average rental duration sits at three months, with some customers keeping their cars for over a year.
While the Nissan Sunny and Mitsubishi Attrage remain everyday favourites, premium options like the Mercedes G63, Lamborghini Huracan and Ferrari F8 are also part of the fleet, for those looking to level up their summer drives.
Bassel Alnahlaoui, chief business officer at Careem, said: 'Our car rental service is built for maximum flexibility and convenience, whether you need a ride for a few days or several months. So many expats in the UAE are looking for easy and cost-effective ways to get around. Careem Car Rental offers a simple way to rent a car in minutes, without the upfront costs or commitment of ownership. And for those booking longer rentals, it's a great way to enjoy added savings during the summer months.'
Ready to hit the road? Just open the Careem app, tap 'Car Rental,' and take it from there.

Video: Abu Dhabi Police warn against dangerous behaviours at Darb toll gate
Abu Dhabi Police's Traffic and Patrols Directorate has urged motorists to avoid stopping on the shoulder of the road except in emergencies, especially around the Darb toll gate where traffic violations have been detected by the smart monitoring systems. Some drivers stop unjustifiably on the shoulder of the road while waiting for specific periods when tolls are not charged, posing a risk to the safety of road users and negatively affecting the traffic flow traffic, it said. It noted that it had observed dangerous behaviours, including sudden swerving, obstruction of traffic and unauthorised entry into public bus stops. The directorate urged drivers to abide by traffic laws and regulations and avoid committing violations such as wrong parking and obstruction of traffic, as a fine of Dhs500 would be imposed on each of these violations. Sudden deviation is considered as a serious traffic violation and a fine of Dhs1,000 plus 4 black points would be imposed on offenders, while using designated bus lanes or stops will incur a fine of Dhs400, in accordance with the provisions of the ministerial resolution no. 178 for 2017 regarding traffic control rules and procedures, it said. Abu Dhabi Police stated that these behaviours were monitored through the smart systems and legal action will be taken against offenders so as to maintain the safety of road users and ensure smooth traffic flow.

Clicked a link, lost Dh2,500: New UAE scam targets online sellers
When Dubai resident N.K. advertised his coffee table on a popular website to sell preloved items, he had no idea how it would be a trap. 'On the second day of my advertisement, a person messaged me on WhatsApp and said she was interested in buying it,' he said. 'We agreed on a price, and she said she would send me a Careem Delivery to pick up the table. She then asked me to click a link and enter my card details so she could pay me. Like a fool, I clicked on the link, gave my details, and immediately got a message that Dh2,500 had been drained from my account.' Although N.K. blocked his card immediately and raised a complaint with the bank, it was futile. 'I had heard of such scams, and I always used to wonder how people fell for it,' he said. 'I feel so angry with myself for being so naive.' N.K. is one of the people who have fallen for a new fast-spreading scam that is doing the rounds in the UAE. On Wednesday, tech giant Careem issued an advisory warning people to not fall prey for the fraud that is taking place in its name. Stay up to date with the latest news. Follow KT on WhatsApp Channels. 'Several users have been targeted, and we've already seen reports of near losses of up to Dh10,000,' a statement noted. 'We want to ensure users across the UAE are aware of the scam and are educated on what to look out for.' The company added that the scam was 'especially deceptive' as the fake site used a copycat URL that appears to users as in previews but redirects to a fake website once clicked. How the scam works Several residents took to social media to share how the scam worked. It mostly targeted those who were seeking to sell items. After approaching a seller showing interest in buying the article they were selling, the 'buyer' claims they can pay the money into the seller's credit or debit card and get a 'Careem Delivery' service to pick it up. The scammer then sends a link which asks the seller to enter all details of the card including the CVV code. Once the details are entered, the scammer steals money and deletes his number immediately. The company does not offer a service titled 'Careem Delivery'. Instead, it offers a 'Careem Box' service which customers can use to send small items between two selected spots or for a captain to buy an item from a store and deliver at a pre-determined location. The company has clarified that this service is only available in Dubai. Red flags In its advisory, the company also advised customers to watch out for other red flags. 'Careem services can only be accessed through the official app and are not available on any third-party websites,' the statement read. It added that users should watch out for unofficial URLs, unusual payment requests and pop-up ads. In screenshots shared by those who encountered these scammers, the URL can be seen having spelling errors. Authorities have repeatedly warned UAE residents to be vigilant about scams and never reveal their card numbers, OTP or any such private information online or on the phone. Some residents have lost up to Dh200,000 in such rackets. Authorities regularly crackdown on such criminals.
