Every day, creators in Ireland are utilising their social media platforms to educate and entertain the masses, discussing historical events, cultural movements, and personal experiences.
With Pride month in full swing, now is the perfect time to give the below creators a follow and support the LGBTQ+ community.
Passionate about Ireland's history, heritage, culture and nature, Jane Casey is one of the leading creators contributing to #HistoryTok in Ireland. Her videos usually dig into the history of the historical ruins, monuments, and landmarks we walk by every day. For Pride month, though, she will also be sharing some fascinating insights into Ireland's LGBTQ+ community throughout history.
This LGBTQ+ history walking tour team uses TikTok to promote their tours and relay facts and information about the city's queer and trans history to new audiences. They have videos documenting the life of Oscar Wilde, as well as explainers on the decriminalisation of homosexuality in Ireland.
A GAA player from Tyrone, Penrose has used his platform on TikTok to discuss life as a gay athlete in Ireland. Initially, he was worried about acceptance, until he came out in 2022 and was embraced and included by his teammates. His videos detail his experience coming out and his day-to-day life as a gay man in Ireland.
Comedian Shane Daniel Byrne recently hosted a podcast called Ireland Said Yes, a short series that examined the key early moments that shaped Ireland's path to achieving marriage equality. You can catch snippets from the series as well as Byrne's usual comedy content on his TikTok.
Zoe and Dani are an engaged couple from Belfast and Dublin, respectively, who have been sharing their adventures online since 2021. As well as advocating for LGBTQIA+ rights, using their platform to raise awareness, the two track down the best things to eat, see, and do across the globe.
