Cal Raleigh is first to 40 homers this season with tiebreaking shot in Mariners' 7-2 win over Angels
Raleigh hammered a 97 mph fastball from José Fermin (2-2) 416 feet into the right-field bleachers for his second homer in eight games since winning the Home Run Derby.
Julio Rodríguez hit his fourth solo homer in three games at Angel Stadium, and Randy Arozarena also connected for the Mariners.

Yoán Moncada, another Angels trade candidate, left in pain after Kirby's fastball hit him in the hand. X-rays were negative.

Marta, who has played in six World Cups and six Olympics, has 122 goals in 206 games with Brazil. Angelina Alonso in the 45th and Amanda Gutierres in the 80th also scored for the Brazil team that won the silver medal at the Paris Olympics losing to the United States in the final. The Colombians also had an own goal by Brazil defender Tarciane in the 69th as it took the lead three times before being pegged back in an extraordinary final. The Brazilian women have won eight of the nine editions of the Copa America and are considered the best team in South America. Their best finish at the World Cup was runner-up in 2007 and they have reached the Olympic final three times.

White Sox INF Miguel Vargas sidelined by a left oblique strain
Associated Press ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — White Sox infielder Miguel Vargas was scratched from Saturday night's game at the Los Angeles Angels because of a left oblique strain. Vargas was replaced at first base by Lenyn Sosa. The White Sox said Vargas is being further evaluated. Vargas, 25, was acquired from the Dodgers as part of a three-team trade in July 2024. He is batting .229 with 13 homers and 44 RBIs in 106 games. Prior to the matchup with the Angels, the White Sox placed right-hander Dan Altavilla on the 15-day injured list with a right lat strain. Right-hander Owen White was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte. The team also announced that first baseman Ryan Noda was claimed off waivers by Baltimore.
