Sidharth Malhotra Drops Vikram Batra's Photo On Kargil Vijay Diwas: 'Saluting Your Sacrifice'
On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas on Saturday, Sidharth Malhotra wished the 'countless brave hearts who stood tall" and 'saluted their sacrifice". The Bollywood actor also shared a picture of Captain Vikram Batra, who was killed while fighting Pakistani troops in the Kargil district of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir.
Sharing a picture of the army officer, who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, Sidharth, who played Captain Vikram Batra in the 2021 film 'Shershaah", wrote: 'To the countless brave hearts who stood tall so we could sleep safe and sound, your spirit lives on in every heartbeat of a proud and graceful nation." 'Saluting your sacrifice, today and always. #KargilVijayDiwas," he added.
Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year on July 26, to observe India's victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War for ousting Pakistani Forces from their occupied positions on the mountain tops of the Northern Kargil District in Ladakh in 1999.
Talking about 'Shershaah", a biographical war drama film directed by Vishnuvardhan, the film stars Sidharth Malhotra in a dual role as Indian Army Captain Vikram Batra and his twin brother Vishal, alongside Kiara Advani as Dimple Cheema.
The narrative follows Batra's journey from a young cadet to a decorated officer in the Kargil War, culminating in his martyrdom during Operation Vijay in 1999. The film emerged as a major digital success and became the most-watched Indian film on Amazon Prime Video in India at the time of its release.
In other news, Sidharth on July 16 officially announced the arrival of his first bundle of joy, a baby girl with wife Kaira Advani and said that their 'world" has 'forever changed." Sidharth took to Instagram, where he shared an announcement post in pink from his and Kiara's behalf. The post read: 'Our hearts are full and our world forever changed. We are blessed with a Baby Girl. KIARA & SIDHARTH." For the caption, Sidharth dropped a heart, namaste and evil eye emoji.
It was on July 15 when the news about the arrival of their baby girl started doing the rounds. The couple announced their pregnancy in February this year, and the actress was due in August. However, a few days ago, the couple were spotted at a maternity medical facility, raising concerns about the mother and the child. The actress was taken to H. N. Reliance Hospital in the Girgaon area of Mumbai for her delivery.
The couple tied the knot in a dreamy ceremony in February 2023 after dating for several years. While the two prefer to keep their personal lives lowkey, they make sure to surprise their fans with their occasional PDA on social media.

On spotting the intruders, India subsequently launched Operation Vijay. The operation showed the meticulous planning, steely determination, and the indomitable spirit of the forces as the soldiers fought over two months in harsh terrain to drive out every intruder and restored Indian control at every post. Kargil Vijay Diwas honours the sacrifices of the soldiers who fought at the Line of Control on the snow-clad peaks amid relentless enemy fire. On July 26, the Indian flag once again soared over the mountains of Ladakh, thanks to the efforts of our armed forces. During the war, 4 soldiers were awarded the Param Vir Chakra (PVC), India's highest gallantry award. 9 soldiers received the Maha Vir Chakra (MVC) and 55 were honoured with the Vir Chakra (VC). 1 soldier was awarded the Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal (SYSM), while 6 received the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal (UYSM) and 8 were honoured with the Yudh Seva Medal (YSM). Director Rajiv Rai recalls Amitabh Bachchan scolding him for making Kajol the killer in Gupt. Director Rajiv Rai's 1997 thriller Gupt left a generation stunned with its shocking twist — Kajol, the film's beloved heroine, was revealed to be the murderer. The bold move to cast a female lead as the villain was considered groundbreaking in Hindi cinema at the time. But not everyone was on board with this twist — including none other than Amitabh Bachchan, who personally questioned Rai's decision ahead of the film's release. In a recent interview on the Ravi Buleiy Official YouTube channel, Rajiv Rai shared a fascinating anecdote about a trial screening of Gupt held in Chennai. Amitabh Bachchan had attended the show and called Rai the very next day. 'He said, 'Rajiv, are you convinced with what you have done in this film? You have made Kajol the killer, are you sure? How can you be so sure?' So in one way, as a senior, he scolded me," Rai said. 'Mere ko daant padi. He is a senior, he can obviously scold me." Rajiv went on to explain that despite Bachchan's doubts, he stood firm in his creative vision, 'He questioned me, 'How are you so confident that this will work?' I told him, 'Sir, I don't have an answer for your questions. It is Wednesday already, please wait for 2 days, you will get your answer.'" As history would have it, Gupt opened to critical and commercial success, and Kajol's performance earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Villain, becoming the first actress to win in that category. Rajiv Rai also recalled his early professional ties to Amitabh Bachchan, having worked as an assistant director on classic films like Trishul and Kaala Patthar, both of which starred the megastar. He revealed that during a challenging phase in Bachchan's career — between 1992 and 1994 — he developed a script with Anees Bazmee specifically for the legendary actor. Despite Rai's high hopes, Bachchan declined the project, 'He said that the phase that I am going through right now, I don't want to do any films. He was not going through a good phase then," Rai said. 'He was confused, and in that confusion, he said no. He is not a confused man but his circumstances were such." The rejection left Rai heartbroken, 'I was like, 'I worked so hard, I was angry with my destiny, not with Amitabh Bachchan. I thought if destiny does not want me to work with Amit ji, I will work with someone new, so I made Mohra with Suniel Shetty." That decision turned out to be career-defining.
