Poonam Dhillon recalls working with Rishi Kapoor, says she learnt a lot from him: ‘He could sing sad songs with a smile'

Late actor Rishi Kapoor and Poonam Dhillon gave several hit films in the 1980s, including Zamana, Biwi O Biwi, and Yeh Vaada Raha. In a recent interview with ANI, Poonam recalled her memories of working with Rishi. The actor also spoke about how his expressions in emotional songs reflected his father Raj Kapoor's style.
During the candid conversation, Poonam said that she has learnt the most from Rishi Kapoor and Kamal Haasan. 'He was one of the most talented and natural actors. I was and am a big fan of his. I used to always say that him and Kamal Haasan are the two actors I have learnt most from because I did a lot of films with both of them. Both were amazing actors.'
The actor also pointed out Rishi's beautiful smile and shared, 'I think Rishi Kapoor probably was the only actor who could sing a sad song with a smile. Later when I saw a lot of Raj Kapoor films, I said that Raj uncle also used to do that. Unhappy songs, but he would have a smile on his face, and the tragedy was still there.'

She added, 'It wasn't a happy smile, it was a sad smile. Rishi Kapoor had that quality that he could make you absolutely emotional just by a look. And, the way he sang songs, it was most natural. He used to look so endearing while singing.'
The host mentioned how Rishi Kapoor's on-point chemistry with actresses made fans assume that he was in love with all his female co-stars. To this, Poonam replied, 'He was a great actor. Trust me, I don't think he was in love with any of his co-stars other than Neetu. That shows what a great actor he was.'
On the work front, Poonam Dhillon was last seen in Ek Kori Prem Katha, last year. The film also starred Raj Babbar, Akshay Oberoi, and Khanak Budhiraja.

John Leguizamo says he 'learned a lot about respect' in his first marriage

Washington [US], July 5 (ANI): Actor-comedian John Leguizamo recently opened up about the lessons he learned from his past. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, the 64-year-old star spoke about how his first marriage helped him grow into a better man and husband. He was married to actress Yelba Zoe McCourt from 1994 to 1996, before marrying his current wife, Justine Maurer, in 2003. According to PEOPLE, in the new season of his MSNBC docuseries, the actor joked to chef Melissa Araujo of Alma in New Orleans while discussing the gentle touch of shaping dough for Honduran baleadas: "If I had your advice, maybe my first marriage would've survived." When asked by PEOPLE what he learned from his first marraige, Leguizamo said, "The starter marriage was definitely very important for my maturation." For Leguizamo, it was a "life-learning experience," because he doesn't think he would be the same husband or man if he hadn't gone through the experience of the first marriage. "I learned a lot about respect. I learned a lot about compromise. I learned that it doesn't happen by itself -- that marriage is really work, and you gotta work, and you gotta put work into it, and you gotta put yourself into it," he added. Leguizamo, who shares two children with Maurer -- daughter Allegra, 25, and son Lucas, 24 -- believes one of the keys to a lasting relationship is staying involved in each other's lives. "You really gotta stay interested in each other, and do things together," he said, according to PEOPLE. Meanwhile, on the work front, the actor's upcoming show Leguizamo Does America season 2 is set to premiere on July 6 at 9 p.m. ET on MSNBC. New episodes will air every week through August. (ANI)

Mel B ties the knot with hairstylist Rory McPhee at Londons St. Pauls Cathedral

London [UK], July 5 (ANI): The 'Spice Girls' star Mel B has tied the knot with hairstylist Rory McPhee. The wedding took place on Saturday, July 5, at The Crypt of St. Paul's Cathedral in London -- a venue known for hosting the wedding of Princess Diana and then-Prince Charles in 1981, reported People. The 50-year-old shared an adorable wedding picture on her Instagram where she and McPhee are seen lovingly looking at each other. She wore a custom ivory gown by designer Josephine Scott for the ceremony and later changed into a second dress by Justin Alexander. "Mel was a dream to work with, bringing her own sense of style to the occasion," Caroline Black, the owner of Evelie Bridal Boutiques in London, who helped the musician pick out her wedding attire, told PEOPLE. According to the publication, the ceremony, the celebration continued with a grand reception at the Shangri-La Hotel inside The Shard, the tallest building in the U.K. Celebrities including Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Cara Delevingne, Katherine Ryan, and Daisy Lowe were among the guests. Mel B's three daughters -- Phoenix (26), Angel (18), and Madison (13) -- were her bridesmaids. The singer has been married twice before and has spoken openly about her experiences with domestic abuse. In 2022, she was awarded an MBE by Prince William for her work raising awareness around domestic violence. This honor allowed her to marry at the historic St. Paul's Cathedral. "It's a big deal because when you get married there -- not many people are allowed to get married there. You have to be kind of special," she shared in May on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, according to People. The wedding came just weeks after Mel B enjoyed a bachelorette party by the sea, joined by 36 of her close friends. The group, all in leopard-print swimsuits, danced together to Beyonce's "End of Time." (ANI)

'Father Refused To Go To Pakistan': Naseeruddin Shah After Standing Up For Diljit Dosanjh

Last Updated: Amid backlash over his support for Diljit Dosanjh in the Sardaar Ji 3 row, Naseeruddin Shah says he doesn't need to prove his patriotism to anyone. Naseeruddin Shah has been in the headlines after coming out in support of Diljit Dosanjh over Sardaar Ji 3, which stars Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. Naseer, who had posted on Facebook in support of Dosanjh, has now stated that he doesn't have to prove his love for this country to anyone. In a heartfelt opinion piece for The Indian Express, Naseeruddin Shah shared that his father refused to go to Pakistan with his brother and was quite certain about staying back. He wrote, 'I was born in India into the fifth generation of a Muslim family, my wife into an even older Hindu one, and we hope our children can be a combination of the best of both. My father refused to go to Pakistan when his brothers left; he was certain India had a future for us, just as I feel it does for my offspring. This is a dream that cannot be abandoned." Earlier, Naseeruddin had come forward to back Diljit, who has been receiving flak for his association with a Pakistani co-star. 'I STAND FIRMLY WITH DILJIT," Naseeruddin had written. 'The dirty tricks deptt of Jumla Party has been awaiting a chance to attack him. They think they've got it at last. He was not responsible for the casting of the film — the director was." He continued, 'But no one knows who he is, whereas Diljit is known the world over, and he agreed to the cast because his mind is not poisoned. What these goons want is to put an end to personal interaction between the people of India and Pakistan. I have close relatives and some dear friends there, and no one can stop me from meeting them or sending them love whenever I feel like it. And my response to those who will say 'Go to Pakistan' is 'GO TO KAILASA'." Later, when his post was taken down and netizens believed he had indeed removed it, the actor clarified, 'I have NOT deleted my post about Diljit Dosanjh. I don't care a fiddler's fart for backlash." Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit also reacted to Naseeruddin's remarks. Speaking to ANI, he said, 'We are not surprised, not shocked, by Naseeruddin Shah's response to Diljit Dosanjh's entire episode. The educated, versatile actor, senior person in the industry, calling us goons proves the frustration and kind of restlessness of Naseeruddin Shah." First Published:
