Here, we're taking a closer look at the type of mattress, bedding and pillows used in both the US Hotel Indigo and UK chains, so you can recreate the same luxury experience in the comfort of your own home. And, with the Memorial Day mattress sales coming up, it's a great time to invest in your sleep.
Hotel Indigo is home to 169 properties with around 22,793 open bedrooms (as of March 2025) across different parts of the world, including Australia, China, Europe, Mexico, Ecuador and the US and UK.
The design and architecture of each property is known to reflect the unique character, as well as the arts and culture from that particular neighborhood, meaning that when you step into the property after your day of vacation adventuring, you don't feel like you're in any generic hotel.
While the mattresses used across the more than 70 Hotel Indigo destinations in the US may differ, the Beautyrest IHG Nightfall Pillow Top is one of the beds used in their stylish rooms.
Designed specifically for IHG Hotels and Resorts, this 13.5" tall hybrid mattress is available to purchase from Beautyrest Hospitality, but not in retail stores according to their site.

It features two layers of GelTouch foam, temperature regulating AirCool gel-infused foam and Beautyrest Pocketed Coil technology, as well as silver within the mattress to act as a natural barrier against bacteria, mold and mildew. Like this year's best hybrid mattresses, we expect this design to provide a great balance of support and pressure relief.
Like the best pillow-top mattresses we've tested, The Beautyrest Nightfall incorporates a plush layer on top of the bed to contour to the body and add an extra touch of luxury.
According to Beautyrest Hospitality, this hotel mattress has a soft feel, thanks to its pillow-top and foams, without compromising on support making it suitable for lots of sleeping positions; key to the perfect hotel bed.
Beautyrest IHG Nightfall Pillow Top mattress: from $2,814 from $1,407 at Beautyrest HospitalityUsed by both the Crowne Plaza and Hotel Indigo, the Beautyrest IHG Nightfall is a hybrid mattress promising a cool sleep and 'gentle support,' and is constructed to 'higher' commercial standards. A queen is currently priced at $1,856 (was $3,712). Extra benefits include white glove delivery and a 10-year warranty, though there is no sleep trial and you cannot return this mattress.
While the US can claim the largest number of Hotel Indigo properties, the UK also has a considerable number considering its relative size, with 23. And across their locations in Europe, you can find 29 of the brand's hotels.
Despite there being little information about the type of mattresses used in each destination, you can find Hypnos beds in Hotel Indigo's in the UK and across Europe.
Hypnos beds is a family-run British bed manufacturer that crafts specialized pocket-spring mattresses, sofa beds, bed bases and more. And they know what they're doing, with over 120 years in the business of making mattresses.
Speaking about their collaboration with Hotel Indigo, Olivier Brommet, Director of Global Business Development, Hypnos Contract Beds said:

Hypnos say their clients can opt for any of the mattress lines under its core Hospitality and Hospitality Origins collections.
While the construction of each collection varies in terms of the number of springs and blend of materials used, the overall structure of Hypnos mattresses include individual pocketed springs for maximum support and comfort layers that often featuring wool.
This material is naturally temperature regulating and usually incorporated in the best organic mattresses for a clean, moisture-wicking sleep. While we haven't tested a Hypnos bed, we expect these features to deliver a good balance of supportive bounce and contouring pressure relief.
All Hypnos beds are handcrafted and have a five year guarantee. Each mattress goes through a rigorous testing process to guarantee quality and durability, and is 100% recyclable at the end of its time being slept on.
While the Hospitality and Hospitality Origins collections can't be bought individually, you can explore the different luxury options offered by Hypnos based on your sleeping style and preferences, both on their website and from retailers around the country.
Hypnos Origins Orthocare Classic: from £897 from £679 at Living HomesThe traditionally hand-tufted Hypnos Origins Orthocare Classic mattress is available in sizes ranging from small single to super king, and features a layer of their signature ReActive pocket spring system, filling featuring organic cotton and a sleep surface made from viscose and unbleached cotton. While this particular model isn't listed on the Hypnos website, you can currently buy it on sale at Living Homes. A single is now £679 (was £897) while a double is £829 (was £1,119) and it comes with a 10-year guarantee.
Although Hotel Indigo has not explicitly stated the brand name of the bedding they use or that of the manufacturer they have partnered with, we can gauge the type they opt for based on information given on the websites for a selection of their destinations.
As you'd expect from a luxury boutique hotel brand, attention to detail extends to the bedding, and Hotel Indigo use "luxury Egyptian cotton linen" on their beds.
High-end hotel chains often choose Egyptian cotton for their sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers because of it's superior quality, which not only makes it softer, but also better at regulating temperature and more durable.
Bed sheets can vary in thread count (the sum of vertical and horizontal threads in a one inch square of fabric) from 200 to 800. However, in general you can expect to find good quality Egyptian cotton sheets with a thread count between around 300 to 600.
While it's not clear what specific pillows are used for each Hotel Indigo across the US and UK, the Gold Coast chain in Chicago opts for chamber style pillows. These are crafted using a combination of down and feathers. This ensures that the hotel pillows suit most sleeping styles and positions by cradling the neck, head and shoulders, keeping them in perfect alignment with the spine.
While you could purchase the mattresses used by Hotel Indigo (or ones that are very similar by the same brands), and certainly get your hands on bedding that befits the luxury environs of a hotel room, you're likely to spend quite a bit in the process.
And, since some of the mattress models aren't available as easily, we've selected a few options that are currently on sale and available for you to snap up now.

Unlike most mattresses, the Beautyrest IHG Nightfall (which we believe is used in Hotel Indigo US) does not come with a sleep trial and cannot be returned. We'd expect more from a premium range mattress other than a 10-year warranty.
Meanwhile, the process of getting your hands on a Hypnos bed in the UK, and the charges involved, is entirely dependent on the retailer you choose.

Soak Up Slow Travel In An Undiscovered Corner Of The Costa Del Sol
Spain's Costa del Sol is no stranger to hotel openings and, this summer, the Andalusian stretch of coastline is practically buzzing with newness. Already this year, Kimpton, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts' luxury and lifestyle portfolio, has opened Kimpton Los Monteros Marbella, reviving one of Spain's most distinguished hotels located in Marbella. This month, the Iconic Luxury Hotels collection, which includes some of the world's most legendary hotels, including British icons Cliveden House and Chewton Glen, has also opened the doors to its latest address—also found in Marbella. Located on Playa del Real de Zaragoza, one of Marbella's most tranquil beaches, Gran Marbella Resort & Beach Club blends cultural heritage with contemporary elegance, offering guests a 'quietly glamorous experience'. (Credit: Michellle Chaplow) This notion of 'quietness' is not only one of the leading travel trends for 2025, (see the rise in 'quietcations'), but it is also a USP of the new Fairmont La Hacienda, found a short drive south from Marbella, in San Roque. Despite its proximity to Costa del Sol's more famous and lively towns, such as Malaga, Fuengirola and Benalmadena, the latest address from Fairmont is instead found in what feels like an undiscovered part of this stretch of southern Spain. Overlooking La Alcaidesa beach, a 4km sandy bay complete with the picture-postcard Punta Carbonera Lighthouse, the hotel's suites and villas are set camouflaged into the hillside. It is circled by the 18-hole La Hacienda Golf Course, the only links course in Andalusia with sea views. Further along the coast, and spiking the horizon with its jagged contours, is the Rock of Gibraltar, a monolith that reminds you that this part of Spain is actually closer to the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar than it is to the bars of Marbs. (Credit: Michelle Chaplow) Spanish architectural agency, Daar Studio, took six years to create the hotel, which is made up of a collection of terraced, luxury rooms, suites and stand-alone villas. The resort's flat roof architecture and stone-coloured facades mean that the buildings seem to fade into the terrain; while the whimsical landscaping throughout—think: herb gardens that add scents of rosemary and lavender to the breeze and undulating grasses that root you to the shoreline—make you feel at one with the natural surroundings. In fact, it is the first sight that greets you when you step inside the double-height, airy lobby. Facing you is an oversized, floor-to-ceiling glass wall—a picture frame to the glittering Alboran Sea beyond. In front of this, a huge sculpture of a whale's tail is another reminder of the ocean life outside the walls—where guests can set sail for day trips, surrounded by giddy dolphins, and where the edge of Morocco can be seen on a clear day. Throughout the public spaces, curated like a series of living rooms, art and artisan objects are on display which give nods to Andalusian craftmanship. The interior design also references the region's rich tradition of ceramics, as well as its Moorish connections, with locally-sourced pottery, dusty pink textiles and textural wall art. There's a whole gamut of sizes to choose from—whether it is a cosy room for two or one of the 47 Spanish-style villas that come with up to three bedrooms, private gardens and swimming pools. Natural materials, such as Campaspero stone and dark wood furniture, have been used sympathetically, and these are juxtaposed with jute, linen and rattan to give an added interest to each space. The neutral palette of cream-on-cream is lifted with textiles in soft colours and muted prints, while large canvases reflect the sunshine and burnt sienna colours of the local landscape. Bathrooms are deliciously indulgent—just what you want from a stay in a luxury, holiday hotel—with egg-shaped tubs, walk-in showers and stocked with Le Labo's heady Rose 31 toiletries. While you can order casual lunches and quick bites, such as poke bowls and pulled-pork burgers by the pool, as a whole, the resort has a sharp eye on its elevated culinary offering, with artisanal produce used for even the most simple dishes. Most impressive is the fact that the Michelin-starred chef Benito Gómez (famed for his renowned two-Michelin star restaurant, Bardal and contemporary tapas restaurant, Tragatá) is overseeing the hotel's fine-dining offering, Dalmar. With its open kitchen and bright décor used in the dining room, a meal here brings a sense of drama. Menu highlights include silky Agur anchovies, sea bass cured in seaweed for three days, tuna belly and oysters, focaccia with homemade stracciatella, 'garden pearl' peas from the Maresme region of Catalonia, known for their sweet taste and seasonality, a signature beef tartare and a Retinta beef chop. Its coastal Mediterranean dishes mean you can try Cádiz tuna and fire-roasted espeto , a local specialty where sardines are grilled over wood in a sand-filled boat, and paired with fresh, seasonal salads. Handcrafted tableware, hanging rattan lighting and a chilled-out soundtrack gives it a beachy, Ibizan feel. The terrace at Faro restaurant gives widespread sea views. Terrace dining means you can gaze out over the sea, which is dotted with the white sails of yachts; while, inside, the dining room is more intimate, with exposed brick walls, ocean-inspired artworks and artisanal pottery. From plates of Jamon Iberico and piquant tomato salads to fresh sea bass and succulent steaks, the vibe here harnesses a hyper-local sensibility that roots you in the destination. Do not miss the oxtail croquettes, which you'll be lusting after long after you've arrived home. Days can be spent exploring local towns, such as Estepona and the harbour of Sotogrande, where you can browse boutiques and night markets. The hotel can also organise local experiences, such as a Mini Moke hire to drive to Castellar de la Frontera, one of Spain's most stunning villages; or an olive oil experience at La Almazara La Organic, an olive grove and museum designed by Philippe Starck set at the foot of the Serranía de Ronda. As well as an indoor swimming pool, there is a series of hydrotherapy pools, a snow fountain, hammam, steam room, sauna and tepidarium. While, if you head down to the beach before breakfast, you'll probably have it to yourself, save for the odd dog-walker. Days segue seamlessly into evenings in this peaceful corner. As the sun dips, head for cocktails at the Vista Lounge terrace, a sedate and sun-dappled space which hits just the right notes before night falls. It's the ultimate in quiet luxury.

This hidden rural oasis makes for a splendid day trip — and it's just an hour from L.A.
Ask a random Angeleno to find Piru, Fillmore or Santa Paula on a California map and odds are they'll shrug and give up. Blame it on location, location, location. Collectively known as the Heritage Valley, these small towns hidden on the stretch of Highway 126 are often ignored and bypassed by L.A. travelers bound for Ojai or Ventura. But if you take the time to stop in this rural oasis, you'll find miles of citrus groves, heaps of history and truly tasty Mexican food. Yes, there are more tractors than Tesla Superchargers in this region — that's part of the draw. This, you realize, is what Southern California looked like before suburbia moved in. Heritage Valley was previously known as Santa Clara River Valley, which is what the locals still call it. In 1998, a committee was assembled to help bring in tourists, and the new, jazzier label was coined. It was an improvement over an earlier, clunkier nickname, Santa Clara River Valley Heritage Trail, which sounded more like a hiking path. It wasn't the only title created for the sake of marketing. The town of Santa Paula has always proclaimed itself 'the citrus capital of the world' for its abundance of lemons and oranges. Fillmore, not to be outdone, picked a gem: 'The last, best small town,' which inspired a play of the same name that's set there. Piru was already born with a compelling handle when its devoutly religious founder proclaimed it as 'The Second Garden of Eden' in 1887. Today, it's better known for its popular outdoor recreational area, Lake Piru. (After 'Glee' actress Naya Rivera drowned in the lake in 2020, swimming was temporarily banned. It's now allowed, but only in designated areas between Memorial Day and Labor Day.) If you go back hundreds of years before Lake Piru was created by the construction of the Santa Felicia Dam, you'd see Chumash villages dotting the valley. Then came the Spanish expeditions in the late 18th century, followed by ranchos that used the land for sheep and cattle. Soon the railroads arrived, and then an oil boom. The valley's eventual transformation into an agricultural mecca was hastened by a Mediterranean climate that proved ideal for crops — first citrus, then avocados. But along with the bounty there were disasters, both natural and man-made, including the 1994 Northridge Earthquake and the catastrophic flood from the 1928 St. Francis Dam collapse. Numerous fires also have made the valley live up to a Times article that called it 'among the most dangerous wind and fire corridors in Southern California.' Yet through it all, the population has steadily grown and more travelers are discovering the area for its lively gatherings (the Santa Paula Citrus Music Festival took place last week), new attractions (check out the 17-mile Sunburst Railbike experience) and stunning hikes.
