
DHS shines at SA Schools badminton tournament
'Our DHS badminton teams took part in the SA Schools Tournament this past week, with high expectations on their shoulders as defending champions in both the team and doubles events — and they delivered,' gushed Charles Moodley, the master in charge of badminton.
He added, 'Our A team rose to the occasion, emerging group winners, defeating Hillcrest 3-2 in the semi-final, and dominating Westville 3-0 in the final to retain their championship title.'

Team members responsible for the win were Shaun Southwood, Erin Benton, Lincoln Wilson, Tobias Sheehama, and Immanuel Ndudzo, under the coaching of Dawie Hattingh and assistant coach Sherav Maharaj.
In addition to their team victory, the players made waves in the individual singles and doubles championships. In the singles category, Sheehama took first position, followed by Lincoln Wilson as a runner-up. The doubles champions were Sheehama and Wilson.
'Our DHS B team was placed third in their group and finished sixth overall, while our DHS C team was placed fifth in their group and 10th overall. A fantastic effort from all our players. We're proud of every single one of the players.
'We're incredibly proud to share that DHS, along with the Alberton Girls A team (Girls Winners), have been invited to represent South Africa at the All-African Schools Championship in Ghana this August,' concluded Moodley.

DHS shines at sports events and dominates St Dominic's tennis tournament
Dundee High School (DHS) delivered an exceptional performance at the tennis tournament hosted by St Dominic's Academy on Saturday. The DHS team—Pieter Bester, Mandie Conradie, Aryan Mungru, Azariah Pillay, Chanelle Pillay and Jordan Singh—competed in both singles and doubles matches against schools including Ferrum, Ladysmith, Newcastle, Pionier, Sarel Cilliers and the hosts, St Dominic's. DHS took first place overall, with St Dominic's finishing second and Ferrum claiming third. Congratulations to the DHS players for their determination and sportsmanship. Chess Nationals 2025 DHS is proud of its first chess team, which competed in the Alex Forbes Chess Championship Nationals. The boys placed third in their pool, displaying remarkable focus, discipline and sportsmanship. Soccer vs Harvest High In a spirited fixture, the U/15 boys defeated Harvest High 3-1, thanks to excellent teamwork. The first team continued the winning streak with a 2-0 victory, keeping a clean sheet and netting two quality goals. Rugby vs YSEOL (Wales) DHS's U/16 rugby team faced Welsh school YSEOL (Penryn Dewi) in a match that went beyond sport. The fixture offered valuable team-building and cultural exchange opportunities. DHS thanked YSEOL for making the trip and commended its players for their grit and humility. Netball vs YSEOL The U/16-B netball girls won 17-4, while the U/16-A team secured a 17-10 win. Both teams showed strong cohesion and energy on court. DHISH Scavenger Hunt 2025 The annual DHISH Scavenger Hunt was another great success. 1st place: Team Titans – Amahle VB Zuma, Lindelwa Magasela, Nonjabulo Ngubo, Samukelisiwe Sibisi, Siphosethu Memela and Azime Mbatha 2nd place: Sherlock Homies – Angela Claassens, Kayri Baker, Shenique Wienand, Alexi Wild and Kiandri Bierbaum 3rd place: The Hunters – Abezingeli, Kwanele Mtshali, Phumelela Sithole, Ndebezinhle Khumalo and Aphelele Chamane Well done to all who took part – your enthusiasm, teamwork and creativity were inspiring. LIV Golf over the weekend confirmed that Steyn City in Johannesburg will host the first-ever LIV Golf South Africa event from 20-22 March 2026. A multi-year commitment, the announcement represents a landmark moment for the league as it expands to the African continent for the first time, extending LIV Golf competition to five continents across the globe. Early bird tickets for LIV Golf South Africa are now available for purchase HERE, including a select number of Club 54 Hospitality Tickets and three-day Ground Passes to enjoy a festival of world-class golf, live music, and family-friendly experiences. A three-day early bird Ground Pass will cost you R2 193.17 down from R2 436.86, while Club 54 Hospitality Tickets will set you back R50 443.20. Free admission for children 12 and under. Children must be accompanied by a paying adult. Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, has announced that tickets are selling fast.
