Chelsea loan defender Sarr back to Strasbourg for upcoming season - World

Premier League side Chelsea loaned teenage defender Mamadou Sarr back to sister club Strasbourg on Friday for the upcoming Ligue 1 season.
The French club confirmed the loan move on its website, having sold the highly rated Sarr to Chelsea in June.
Strasbourg is owned by the consortium led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital that bought Chelsea in 2022.
The 19-year-old Sarr is a France under-20 international. He was a regular last season, playing 27 league games as Alsace-based Strasbourg finished in seventh place to seal a place in the Conference League playoffs. He previously played briefly for Lyon.
Chelsea won the Conference League last season and will play in the Champions League after finishing in fourth place in the Premier League.
Strasbourg was bought by Chelsea's ownership group, BlueCo, in 2023. Chelsea said Sarr had signed a contract until 2033 but didn't disclose the transfer fee.
Strasbourg open its league campaign at Metz on Aug. 17.

‘The Legend is Back': CS Sfaxien announce Maaloul's return after 9 Years with Ahly - Africa

Tunisian side CS Sfaxien confirmed the signing of veteran left-back Ali Maaloul in a free transfer on Saturday, marking the end of his nine-year tenure with Egyptian giants Ahly. The 35-year-old Maaloul had announced his departure from Ahly last May, after playing a pivotal role in one of the club's most successful eras. Speculation regarding his next move had been rife, with some suggesting he would retire, while others believed he would return to his childhood club, CS Sfaxien. On Saturday, CS Sfaxien made the announcement official with a video posted on their official Facebook page, headlined 'The Legend is Back.' Maaloul's stint with Ahly was marred by injury, as he underwent surgery in May 2024 to treat a partial tendon tear suffered during a match against Esperance de Tunis. The injury sidelined him for several months, including during the first leg of the CAF Champions League final. Despite signing a contract extension last summer, Maaloul was dropped from the squad to make room for a foreign player. When the transfer window reopened in January, he was not included in coach Marcel Koller's plans., as the club sought to strengthen their attack with a foreign forward. Since joining Ahly in the summer of 2016, Maaloul established himself as a cornerstone of the club's success. He recorded an impressive 51 goals and 83 assists in 287 appearances, earning a special place in the hearts of the club's supporters for his unwavering dedication and loyalty. Over his illustrious time in Cairo, the Tunisian international left behind an unmatched legacy, securing 21 titles, including four CAF Champions League trophies, two CAF Super Cups, six Egyptian Premier League titles, five Egyptian Super Cups, and four Egypt Cup victories. Before his time at Ahly, Maaloul helped CS Sfaxien secure the Tunisian League title in the 2012/13 season. Across 190 appearances for the club, he scored 39 goals and provided 43 assists in all competitions from 2008 to 2016. Tehran Shuts Public Toilets Amid Worsening Water Crisis

Israa Farhan Authorities in Tehran have closed many public toilets across the city as part of emergency government measures to address Iran's deepening water crisis, according to local media reports. The closure, which includes facilities in metro stations, has drawn public criticism. Iran watchdog outlet Didban slammed the government for cutting off access to what it called a basic human need. While Tehran's city administration has not officially commented, eyewitnesses confirm that numerous public restrooms are no longer accessible. There are an estimated 20,000 public toilets in the greater Tehran area, many of which have reportedly been shut down. Iran is currently facing a growing energy and water shortage, with water cuts lasting up to 48 hours in parts of the capital and at least 50 other cities. The crisis has been worsened by long electricity outages that prevent residents from using air conditioning, even as temperatures soar to between 40 and 50 degrees Celsius. President Masoud Pezeshkian recently warned that the country is on the brink of a severe water shortage. He urged citizens to reduce consumption, warning that excessive use could push Iran into a critical shortage by September or October, according to the Tasnim News Agency. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results
