Works minister denies viral RM26mil gratuity payment letter
He said that the letter was fake and was never issued by the ministry or himself.
"The ministry never issued any official invitation for such a gratuity payment ceremony. As such, I advise the public not to be deceived by such documents, which clearly contain elements of fraud and impersonation," he said.
He said the ministry is working closely with the authorities to investigation the matter.
The public is urged to verify any suspicious documents or communications allegedly from the ministry through its official website at www.kkr.gov.my or by calling the official hotline.
Earlier, a letter had gone viral on social media claiming that a gratuity payment of over RM26 million was supposed to be presented to the next of kin of an individual at a ceremony to be held at the ministry tomorrow. - Bernama

Meanwhile, Segamat fire and rescue station operations commander Senior Fire Officer (PBK) Abd Rahim Taufik said after receiving a distress call at 1.46pm, a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) with six personnel was dispatched to the scene. "On arrival at the accident scene, the operations team had to extricate the two victims in the car using special equipment. He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is taking the country's debt situation seriously, with a clear focus on curbing new borrowings and narrowing the fiscal deficit. "When the deficit declines, debt levels also fall. We've heard the Prime Minister previously speak about limiting new borrowings, and he is clearly committed to avoiding excessive debt,' he said. Mustazar was speaking as a guest on Bernama TV's Ruang Bicara programme yesterday, in an episode titled '13MP: The People's Socioeconomic Agenda and Hopes'. According to the 13MP blueprint, ongoing fiscal consolidation efforts are expected to narrow the fiscal deficit to below three per cent of gross domestic product (GDP) and keep the federal debt level under 60 per cent of GDP. Commenting on the development allocation for Kota MADANI, Mustazar said the initiative reflects a public-private partnership model. "The government will not spend directly but instead grant concessions to qualified private firms. Hence, not everything announced by the government will involve direct fiscal commitments. Foiled in Setia Alam: Snatch thief caught after botched necklace grab
SHAH ALAM, Aug 5 — A man's attempt to snatch a necklace from a local in Setia Alam was thwarted when bystanders caught him yesterday evening. Shah Alam police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the incident occurred at 7.07pm when the 37-year-old victim was heading to his car. The suspect, riding a motorcycle, tried to pull off the victim's necklace, but the victim fought back quickly. 'The suspect lost control and fell from his motorcycle. He tried to escape but was caught by nearby bystanders. 'Police later confirmed that the suspect, aged 30, owned the motorcycle but had used a fake licence plate. He is now under remand until August 7,' he said in a statement. Mohd Iqbal urged the public to remain alert and avoid being alone in isolated areas to reduce the risk of crime.
