A devastating fire at a storage unit in Middleton has seen people losing irreplaceable family keepsakes, including of deceased loved ones.
Fortunately no-one was injured in the fire, which the Manchester Evening News understands has involved lithium ion batteries.
However, many people have been left grieving the loss of precious keepsakes which any potential insurance compensation will not be able to replace.

Among them is 25-year-old Mollie Lord, who had kept some of her late dad Warren's possessions in the unit.
She said: "My dad passed away two years ago really suddenly, he got poorly on Monday and died on the Sunday, he was only 48.
"He had a big toolbox with all the tools from over the years, he collected Lego, we're talking limited edition pieces.
"I thought when I had kids I could pass his Lego on to them so they could have something of his, but now it's probably all gone."
Mental health worker Mollie has been left devastated by the fire.
"I've been crying since I found out it was on fire," she said. "I'm in shock that it's even happening.
"I've not grieved my dad, and it feels like I'm grieving him all over again. I would give anything to sit with his stuff again."
Ann Howarth had also stored her late father's belongings in the facility.
She said: "This has left me devastated beyond words. My dad raised me himself from being born. He was my everything. He died a couple of years ago.
"I decided to pack up all of my personal items, and my daughters and everything of my dad's, on Monday this week. I put it all in storage world in Middleton, everything - paperwork, legal documents, my whole life and all of my memories.
"Then just two days later, it goes up in flames. It very much looks like I have lost everything, things I can never get back.
"To say that I am broken is an understatement. There are no words to describe it."
Engineer Anthony Davies also had precious keepsakes from his late father in the lock-up.
"It's stuff that you're never going to get back through insurance," he said.
"It's pictures, a watch that he left me, he smoked a pipe and his favourite pipe was in there. He did run for Manchester City years ago and he got a medal, that was in there.
"You expect things to be safe don't you?"
Luanna Kelly was also impacted by the fire, and told the MEN: "Me and my partner are completely upset and broken.
"We have stuff in there that is sentimental and that money can't replace like a picture of my partner's grandma and first holy communion stuff.
"We are completely heartbroken."
Quan Le shared that he used the facility to help run his business, which has been left devastated by the fire.
He said: "I'm really struggling emotionally right now. I couldn't sleep at all last night. I haven't had the strength to go down there and see everything burnt – it's just too much."
Crews from across Greater Manchester rushed to the fire yesterday as sickly yellow-tinged smoke belched from the windows.
On June 19 the fire continued into a second day, with the roof of the building collapsing, and with it the hopes of many people to recover irreplaceable possessions.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: 'Crews have worked hard overnight to contain the fire at the commercial premises on Old Hall Street, Middleton.
'Six fire engines, the aerial unit and scorpion remain in attendance to tackle pockets of fire and make the building safe in challenging conditions.
"Road closures remain in place with nearby residents advised to keep their doors and windows shut."
A spokesperson for Storage World, the company which runs the unit, said: "Our Middleton store has suffered a serious fire. Authorities are currently in attendance and we will be contacting customers as soon as the situation has settled and we can assess the damage. This will be no later than Friday afternoon.
"Please do not contact us directly but wait for us to communicate with you, as this will allow us to manage the current situation and ensure all customers are given accurate information as soon as possible."

Family of devoted mom killed in I-20 crash near Terrell, remembers her as loving, full of life

The family of Nicole Gregory, one of five people killed in Saturday's devastating crash on I-20, is remembering her as someone full of life and hopelessly devoted to her loved ones. The sudden loss of the 48-year-old has left a deep and painful void, one her sister, Alicia, and daughter, Hailee, are still coming to terms with. "My parents split up when I was very young, and it was me and my mom my entire life," Hailee LaJeunesse Gregory said. Hailee Gregory said growing up, her mom was at every soccer game and theater performance. They were inseparable, and she always felt loved and supported. "She was my soul mate," she said. "Anyone that knew me and my mom, they knew that we were a package deal." Last Saturday, Nicole Gregory spent the day with a close friend and was heading to watch one of her favorite bands, The Flannel Pajamas, perform when she was involved in an accident on I-20 in Kaufman County. Authorities say the driver of an 18-wheeler fell asleep at the wheel, crashing into several vehicles. "The last text that I sent her was, 'I love you and be safe,'" Hailee Gregory said. "That was the last time I got to talk to her. That was the last text that I know she opened." Now, imagining a future without her feels unbearable. "I just think I'm engaged, and she won't be at my wedding," Nicole Gregory's sister, Alicia LaJeunesse, said. "Her milestones that she's going to be missing out on... It's hard just knowing the things to come." "She wanted to be a grandmother so badly," Hailee Gregory said. "I wanted nothing more than to give her a grandchild and to see how she would be as a grandmother." What's helping them cope is the outpouring of love and support. They say Nicole Gregory had a gift for making people feel seen and never hesitated to help someone in need. In return, the community is giving back. A GoFundMe has already raised thousands of dollars to support the family.

Authorities reveal how girl, 5, fell overboard from Disney Dream cruise ship before dad jumped in to save her

Authorities have revealed how a five-year-old girl fell overboard on a Disney cruise, prompting a dramatic ocean rescue by her father. As the Disney Dream sailed toward Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at 11.30 a.m. on Sunday, the young girl was sitting on the fourth-deck railing while her parents played shuffleboard nearby. The family had completed a four-night voyage through the Bahamas aboard the $900 million cruise when disaster struck and the girl slipped backwards, plunging 45ft into the ocean. Initially, it was not clear what had led to the girl's fall. Now the Broward County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that the child had lost her balance and tumbled through a porthole, CBS Miami reports. The dad leapt from the cruise to save his daughter, treading water for up to 20 minutes before both were pulled aboard the ship's rescue boat. 'This family is so blessed,' a sheriff's spokesperson said, keeping the family's identity anonymous. 'It's great to be able to respond to good news rather than what could have been a tragic outcome.' Passenger Monica Shannon told CBS the railings had 'little divots and spaces' that made it possible for the girl to climb up. Shannon was on the third-floor deck at the time, one below where the girl plunged from. 'I kind of see something really fast flew by, I didn't think anything of it,' she said. 'I just figured it was maybe a part of the show or just the experience, but about five minutes later we heard that someone flew overboard.' Another passenger named Chandler previously told People magazine about the moment the girl hit the water. 'It sounded like hitting the pavement,' she said. 'Then this awful scream from what I assume is the mother and then this massive splash.' Chandler said she was with her family when the commotion began, and 'Mr. M.O.B.,' meaning man overboard, blared out over the ship's intercom as it traveled between Nassau and Grand Bahama Island. The passenger said she didn't think rescuers would be able to locate the dad and daughter and told her nine-year-old daughter Harper that 'they were probably gone.' Video shared online shows the yellow rescue boat quickly bobbing through the waters to reach the father and daughter as onlookers watched from on top of the ship. One clip shared on TikTok shows the girl in the boat wrapped in a towel while being embraced by a rescue worker. In another, the girl's sodden father could be seen breathlessly clutching onto a rescuer. Travelers erupted into rapturous applause as the rescue teams threw out a rope for the pair to grab onto and safely pulled them onto the jetty.

Bid to temporarily block Palestine Action ban to be heard at High Court

A bid to temporarily block the banning of Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation is set to be heard at the High Court on Friday, ahead of a potential legal challenge against the move. Huda Ammori, the co-founder of Palestine Action, is seeking to bring a legal challenge against the Home Office over Home Secretary Yvette Cooper's decision to proscribe the group under the Terrorism Act 2000. The motion could become law as early as this weekend once it has been signed off by Ms Cooper, which would make membership of, or support for, the direct action group a criminal offence punishable by up to 14 years in prison. The move was announced after two Voyager aircraft were damaged at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire on June 20, an incident claimed by Palestine Action, which police said caused around £7 million worth of damage. At a hearing on Friday, Mr Justice Chamberlain is due to decide whether to grant 'interim relief' to Ms Ammori, which would temporarily block the legislation from coming into effect at midnight on Saturday as currently planned. The hearing is due to begin at 10.30am at the Royal Courts of Justice, with a further hearing to decide whether Ms Ammori will be given the green light to challenge the Government's decision expected to be held later in July. Ms Cooper announced plans to proscribe Palestine Action on June 23, stating that the vandalism of the two planes was 'disgraceful' and that the group had a 'long history of unacceptable criminal damage'. MPs in the Commons voted 385 to 26, majority 359, in favour of proscribing the group on Wednesday, before the House of Lords backed the move without a vote on Thursday. Four people – Amy Gardiner-Gibson, 29, Jony Cink, 24, Daniel Jeronymides-Norie, 36, and Lewis Chiaramello, 22 – have all been charged in connection with the incident. They appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday after being charged with conspiracy to enter a prohibited place knowingly for a purpose prejudicial to the safety or interests of the United Kingdom, and conspiracy to commit criminal damage, under the Criminal Law Act 1977. They were remanded into custody and will appear at the Old Bailey on July 18. Counter Terrorism Policing South East said on Wednesday that a 41-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender had been released on bail until September 19, and a 23-year-old man who was arrested has been released without charge.
