NFL legend Adrian Peterson makes shock career switch... weeks after leaving poker rivals bloodied in wild fight
Peterson, 40, made headlines back in June after being caught on camera getting into a fist fight during a poker game in Houston, Texas.
The video, obtained by TMZ, showed 40-year-old Peterson squaring up with a fellow poker player over a hand at the JokerStars social club back on May 27.
Peterson later said that he and a friend were involved in a disagreement while at a table. Eventually, 'one thing led to another' and the pair raised their fists at each other.
Despite already clashing with his poker rival, it seems as though the scores are not settled yet and, according to TMZ, Peterson has signed a contract to fight his adversary inside the boxing ring with Celebrity Boxing.
The outlet claim that Peterson's rival - Joe 'Baby Joe' Castaneda - has also put pen to paper on the deal and that a sanctioned bout between the two is on the way.
There is no official fight date or location scheduled yet, however, Celebrity Boxing chief Damon Feldman has insisted that he's working to get that sorted.
The outlet claim that Peterson reassured that he would be taking the bout seriously, after previously clashing with his poker foe back in May.
The video which went viral last month showed Peterson and his buddy throwing punches for several seconds, despite one person trying to separate them.
The former running back ate a number of punches to the face at the beginning of the scrap, but he eventually got back at his counterpart with some haymakers.
TMZ says that bloody wounds were visible on the faces of both people involved. However, Peterson claims his injury came from falling into a chair rather than a punch.
While alcohol was involved, Peterson told the outlet that wasn't the only reason the situation escalated.
'Me and the guy, we're cool,' Peterson said. 'We've known each other. It was literally like a brother situation. We agreed to disagree, we had our words, and we threw blows -- and that was it.'
Peterson added: 'I felt really bad. It's a situation where I kind of regret it.'
The outlet says that police were not called and are not investigating. The club did not punish either person involved.
This is not the first time that Peterson has gotten violent with someone else - having previously been charged win the cases of two domestic disputes.
In 2014, Peterson pled no contest to a misdemeanor charge of recklessly assaulting his son after using a tree branch - known as a 'switch' to beat him on his back, buttocks, genitals, ankles, and legs as a punishment. Peterson was punished in a similar manner in his own childhood.
The running back was put on probation and fined $4,000 while avoiding a jail sentence. The NFL placed him on unpaid suspension until spring 2015.
In February 2022, he was arrested by the LAPD for a domestic violence incident with his wife on a flight from Los Angeles to Houston. After posting bond, his wife said that he did not put his hands on her - rather they had a verbal argument. The charges were dropped.
Two months ago, Peterson was arrested for fourth-degree DWI. He was traveling 83mph in a 55mph zone with a blood-alcohol content of .14.
Peterson is likely bound for the Hall-of-Fame after winning Offensive Rookie of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, and MVP in his career.
In addition to the Vikings, he played for the New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, Washington Redskins, Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans, and Seattle Seahawks.
He holds the record for most rushing yards in an NFL game with 296.

Lennox Lewis claims it would be a ‘travesty' if Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua never happens
Britain's most recent undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis believes Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury must face each other in the ring before walking away from the ring for good, stating otherwise it would be a 'travesty'. The often-rumoured fight between the two Brits has been on fight fans' wishlists for years, but despite Fury and Joshua's spells as heavyweight world champions, the pair have yet to cross paths in the ring. Fury, who retired yet again at the start of 2025, has stated that he will be coming out of retirement in 2026 to face Oleksandr Usyk a third time. However that fight is yet to have been confirmed by anyone other than Fury himself, whilst Joshua is currently sidelined following elbow surgery. 'The Gypsy King' last fought in December 2024, in a unanimous decision loss to Usyk, whilst Joshua was stunned at Wembley Stadium in September by then- IBF champion Daniel Dubois. Matchroom Boxing CEO Frank Smith suggested that Joshua could return towards the end of 2025, whilst boxing's kingmaker Turki Alalshikh is reportedly keen on seeing the pair finally fighting in 2026. Lewis feels that after years of a bout between AJ-Fury never materialising, boxing fans in the UK would be hard done by if they never saw the pair exchange blows. Speaking to The Ring, former WBC, WBA, and IBF heavyweight champion Lewis shared: 'It would be a travesty if they never fight each other. 'I think everybody's looking at the Tyson Fury fight for Joshua and I think that's a good fight for both guys. We need to see that fight. I think they owe it to the British public.' In recent weeks Joshua has been linked to fighting YouTuber-turned-cruiserweight Jake Paul, in a bout where the financial benefits will clearly outweigh the sporting merits. Lewis felt that if Joshua wanted to prove something upon his return to the ring, then he must fight another contender. He continued: 'It really depends on what he wants to prove. 'If he wants to prove that he's still got it then he's got to come back and box somebody that's still about it.' Channel Nine US correspondent Lauren Tomasi buys first home with husband in Washington DC - after being shot at by police during LA riots
Channel Nine US correspondent Lauren Tomasi and her husband Rohan Chapman-Davies bought their first family home together in Washington DC. The happy couple, who tied the knot in Tuscany, Italy in early June, announced the news on Instagram on Friday. They shared loved-up images of themselves posing in their new house and christening it with a few glasses of Laurent Perrier La Cuvee Champagne. 'Found a home & named our WiFi "Vegemite",' Lauren captioned the post. She cuddled up with her Olympic skier husband in the first image, with the pair wrapping their arms around each other and sporting proud smiles. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. They stood in their new—and very empty—sun-drenched living room, which featured numerous windows and timber flooring. A second image saw Rohan sitting on their sofa after the married couple furnished the home, holding up a glass of Champagne in a celebratory toast. Finally, Lauren uploaded an image of two filled glasses next to the bottle of Champagne she was sharing with her partner. The purchase comes almost two months after a police officer shot Lauren with a rubber bullet while the journalist covered the Los Angeles riots in early June. She was reporting on the 'rapidly deteriorating' situation from migrant protests in California's biggest city when she was hit in the leg. Lauren was telling viewers 'the LAPD are moving in on horseback and firing rubber bullets at protesters' when the incident was caught live on air. The US correspondent for Nine said police were 'moving them [protesters] on through the heart of LA' while several loud bangs could be heard in the distance. Moments later a policeman was seen turning his gun toward Lauren. A cloud of smoke appeared and she doubled over in pain. They shared loved-up images of themselves posing in their new house and christening it with a few glasses of Laurent Perrier La Cuvee Champagne 'You just f***ing shot a reporter,' a protester yelled at nearby police as several other protesters stopped to ask the journalist if she was okay. Lauren could be heard yelling back, 'I'm good, I'm good', and Nine confirmed the reporter was 'left sore but otherwise unharmed' by the close-range shot. Just a week before the terrifying moment, Lauren married her partner Rohan in a lavish wedding in Tuscany, Italy. Lauren, who announced her engagement to Rohan in August 2022, wore a strapless white designer wedding dress and white heels which she kicked off at the reception. The blonde beauty beamed as she exchanged vows with Rohan during an exquisite outdoor ceremony surrounded by friends and family. One photo, uploaded to Instagram, saw the couple share their first kiss as husband and wife, while another showed them sharing a toast with guests at their reception. Their star-studded reception featured many familiar faces, such as BBC News Los Angeles correspondent Samantha Granville. Lauren captioned the gallery with: 'How to end your wedding: With sore feet from dancing, sore cheeks from smiling and a smooch from my new husband.' Lauren was a journalist for Nine News in Sydney from August 2019 to January 2023. She then took on the US Correspondent role for the network, and was based in Los Angeles for a time. Meanwhile, Rohan is a champion freestyle skier who competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Ellie Scotney reveals promise she made to late friend Georgia O'Connor before emotional world title win
ELLIE SCOTNEY took a step closer to becoming undisputed world champion - while keeping her promise to the late Georgia O'Connor. Scotney and O'Connor came up through the amateur ranks together and formed an inseparable bond boxing across the globe. 3 3 But tragically O'Connor - aged 25 and three fights into her professional career - passed away after bravely battling cancer. The devastating news came only two weeks after she married and two months before Scotney's unification bout against Yamileth Mercado. The WBC, IBF and WBO super-bantamweight champion accompanied O'Connor at her wedding and vowed to fight on in her name. And Scotney, 27, told SunSport: "I always say it as much as I can, I'll make sure her name and her story is remembered. "The fight she fought she was endless with it and the way she battled with it and the that was just so much bigger than whatever we do in the ring. She showed me that in her ways." Scotney - promoted by YouTube star-turned boxer Jake Paul - even walked to the ring with O'Connor's father John before her points win over Mercado. She added: "To have her dad there, I felt her there every step of the way." Scotney had to endure an emotional training preparation and revealed: "I was crying in sessions. "I was in a bad place, a very bad place and I didn't enjoy this camp at all. "And people said, what's been your hardest sacrifice? And it's been emotion in the sense that I wasn't allowed to grieve. Georgia O'Connor dead aged 25: Tributes pour in as Brit boxer dies following cancer battle 2 weeks after getting married "But I had to put that to a side and that was hard. She said to my mum, 'I know she's in camp but I more or less need to say bye.' "But it weren't like that, it was like, 'I'll see you soon.' And as I left, she kissed every one of my knuckles. "She was like, 'You're gonna get the knockout!' Obviously I did get the knockout but I got the win and I know she would have been shuffling up there." Scotney now just has the WBA belt - held by Mayelli Flores Rosquero - left to win in honour of her Nan Eileen who died aged 99. She said: "I'm literally one fight away from completing collection. My Nan always said, 'Finish the collection.' "To know I'm one fight and one step away and we're there." 3
