JURASSIC WORLD: REBIRTH Behind-the-Scenes Footage Previews a Dinosaur-Fueled Survival Nightmare — GeekTyrant
At the heart of the film is Site C, a brand-new location in the franchise's ever-growing mythos. But this isn't another Isla Nublar or Isla Sorna. Site C was InGen's dirty little secret—so hidden that not even most of the company knew it existed.
This remote island wasn't built for tourists or attractions; it served as a shadowy testing ground for InGen's most extreme genetic experiments, including dinosaurs considered too aggressive, unstable, or unpredictable for any theme park setting.
Basically, if Nublar was a zoo, Site C is a nightmare laboratory that nature itself rejected.
The footage features the Delgado family, Reuben (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), Teresa (Luna Blaise), Isabella (Audrina Miranda), and Teresa's boyfriend Xavier Dobbs run into trouble at sea. A mosasaurus attack flips their sailboat and strands them in dangerous waters.
Their story takes another sharp turn when they're rescued by Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson) and Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali), two operatives aboard a submarine en route to Site C on a covert mission involving dinosaur DNA.
In the film, 'The planet's ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived.
'The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.'
The director previously said that the movie is 'a giant love letter to Steven Spielberg and his earlier films. There are moments in this movie that remind me very much of Jaws.
'It's like little greatest hits of all those aspects of his films that I loved growing up as a child. It's essentially a little adventure odyssey across this island, a survival story, really.'
The film is set five years after the events of Dominion , 'in which dinosaurs mingled with humans all over the globe, these creatures are now dying out.
'The present-day planet proved to be inhospitable to the prehistoric ilk, except for a small region in the tropics around the equator, where many of them now congregate.
'The three most colossal dinosaurs of land, sea, and air within this biosphere hold genetic material precious to a pharmaceutical company that hopes to use the dino DNA to create a life-saving drug for humanity.'
The movie is in theaters now, and you should watch it!

‘Sinners' Used Costumes From a Scrapped ‘Blade' Reboot
The moment Sinners was formally unveiled, folks immediately began making comparisons to Blade. Black people fighting vampires in the south sounds perfect for Marvel's daywalker, and it turns out the two have more than that core concept in common. In a recent ScreenCrush interview, Sinners producer Sev Ohanian revealed 'a lot' of the film's background actors are wearing costumes originally meant for the Maheshala Ali-led horror flick. Both films share a costumer in Black Panther costume designer Ruth E. Carter, who's previously stated Blade would've also been a period piece set in the 1920s. Ohanian backed up those claims, saying Marvel's movie would've 'dealt with the past around the same era. 'Ruth happened to have a warehouse full of period-appropriate clothes, and it was like, 'Yo, we got to shoot this movie like tomorrow,'' continued Ohanian. 'And Marvel was generous enough and kind enough to let us basically purchase it at price.' Even before Carter confirmed it, there were rumors of a version of Blade's script that spanned one or more time periods. It's unclear which version of the script this idea was linked to, but the situation around this character's return to the movies has been so troubled, one iteration was said to have basically made him a side character. With Sinners having made a ton of money and lit the world on fire, there's no doubt it won't be in the conversation surrounding Blade once that one eventually rears its head. Kevin Feige recently said Marvel might've finally figured out a proper take for the character, so we'll see if this'll all be worth it at some point in the future. Maybe. ‘Jurassic World Rebirth' bites off $318 million at the global box office
Dinosaur fatigue may be a theme in 'Jurassic World Rebirth,' but moviegoing audiences don't seem to have that reservation. The newest installment in the 'Jurassic World' franchise ruled the Fourth of July holiday box office with a global, five-day launch of $318.3 million, according to studio estimates Sunday. The Universal Pictures release, directed by Gareth Edwards, opened on Wednesday and earned $147.3 million in its first five days in 4,308 North American theaters. An estimated $91.5 million of that comes from the traditional 'three day' weekend, which includes the Friday holiday, Saturday and projected Sunday ticket sales. Internationally, it opened in 82 markets including China, adding $171 million to the opening total. According to the studio, $41.5 million of that came from China alone, where it played on 65,000 screens, 760 of which were IMAX. It's the country's biggest MPA (Motion Picture Association) opening of the year. 'Rebirth,' starring Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey, is the fourth movie in the 'Jurassic World' series and the seventh since Steven Spielberg's original Michael Crichton adaptation stormed theaters in the summer of 1993. The new film received mixed reviews from critics, carrying a 51% on Rotten Tomatoes, and B CinemaScore from opening weekend audiences. Factors like the holiday weekend, inflation and post-COVID moviegoing realities make it difficult to fairly compare the 'Rebirth' launch to the other films in the 'Jurassic World' franchise, the first of which opened to $208 million domestically in 2015. The other two, 'Fallen Kingdom' and 'Dominion' opened to $148 million and $145 million respectively. 'Jurassic World Rebirth' introduced a new main cast to the series and brought back a familiar voice in 'Jurassic Park' screenwriter David Koepp to guide the story about a dangerous hunt for dinosaur DNA (not for making dinosaurs this time, but for curing heart disease). It cost a reported $180 million net to produce, not including marketing and promotion costs. The campaign was far reaching, including a global press tour, with stops everywhere from London to Seoul, integrated marketing across NBC Universal platforms and brand tie-ins with everything from Jeep and 7-11 to Johansson's skincare line. No major new films dared go up against the dinosaurs, who left last week's champion, the Brad Pitt racing movie 'F1,' in the dust. 'F1' fell a modest 54% in its second weekend with $26.1 million, helping bring its domestic total to $109.5 million. It continues to play on IMAX screens with accounted for $7.6 million of the North American weekend ticket sales. Globally, it's nearing $300 million with a running total of $293.6 million. Third place went to Universal's live-action 'How to Train Your Dragon,' which earned $11 million in its fourth weekend, bringing its domestic total to $224 million. Disney and Pixar's 'Elio' landed in fourth place with $5.7 million. Globally, 'Elio' has just crossed $96 million in three weekends.
