Texans players to wear No. 48
No. 48 currently belongs to fourth-year linebacker Christian Harris. After a dominant 2023 season under new coach DeMeco Ryans, expectations were high for Harris to become the next standout WILL backer in the pros. In 16 games for a top 12 defense, Harris totaled over 100 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, two sacks and a pick-six in the wild-card round victory over the Cleveland Browns.
A hip injury sidelined Harris ahead of the 2024 season for 14 games. Once he returned, Harris was designated to the No. 3 role behind Azeez Al-Shaair and Henry To'oTo'o, though he did fill in for Al-Shaair amid his three-game suspension ahead of the postseason. Combined with the playoffs, Harris finished with 22 tackles, a sack and two quarterback hits.
Expectations remain that Harris will compete for first-team reps. The Texans could have netted a decent return ahead of the draft if they weren't sold on his potential entering Year 3 of the Ryans' era, but he'll need a promising training camp to ensure his role will decrease behind the newly acquired E.J. Speed.
Since Harris spent a majority of last season on the IR, he's likely lost a step in being the G.O.A.T. of No. 48, but he still might have a case since the number has been seldomly passed out to starters.
Best Player: Christian Harris
Pittman deserves some love because he was the long snapper before Jon Weeks, but does anyone really know him since Weeks became the face of snapping? Harris might have missed most of the 2024 season, but his 100-tackle season puts him in a category with only 11 others who have totaled triple-digits stops in a season.
With there being so few options, Harris' 2023 season lands him on the list. At least for now going into the final year of his rookie contract.

Rams star predicted to become potential future All-Pro player
The Los Angeles Rams have a lot of emerging talent on the defensive side of the ball. That's all thanks to expert scouting and drafting by Les Snead and Sean McVay, but also quality coaching from defensive coordinator Chris Shula and the rest of the staff. But are any of them All-Pro material? We already saw Jared Verse make the Pro Bowl and win Defensive Rookie of the Year, but making the All-Pro team is an even harder personal accolade to achieve. CBS Sports' Josh Edwards used historical metrics to try to predict which players at all defensive positions could blossom into All-Pro players. Oddly enough, the only Rams player to make the cut was defensive tackle Kobie Turner — not Verse. Turner was regarded as undersized coming out of Wake Forest a few years ago, but in his two professional seasons, has averaged 8.5 sacks. Los Angeles has done a phenomenal job revamping that defensive front, which creates a lot of one-on-one pass rush moments for all involved. It is assumed that Turner will continue receiving and capitalizing on those opportunities. Verse, meanwhile, lost out to Will Anderson Jr. of the Houston Texans — another defending Defensive Rookie of the Year who has shown a lot of promise in limited time — for the linebacker All-Pro prediction slot. This isn't a perfect science, but what Edwards is trying to do is find patterns that give a glimpse of a potential future. Turner has proven to be a great interior defensive lineman who still has work to do to become elite. This could be the year he takes that leap.

Kansas City Chiefs stars are predicted to have their jersey numbers retired down the road
The Kansas City Chiefs have enjoyed significant success with two iconic offensive players on their roster. The legendary careers of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have already had writers and critics looking ahead to their eventual jersey retirements. "If the Chiefs honor the man who threw the passes for their dynasty, they'll almost surely do the same for the man who caught so many of them," wrote Benjamin, "Like Mahomes, Kelce is one of, if not the, best of his time." As the two stars enter another training camp ahead of the new season, they will focus on expanding their impressive career resumes.
