The Ploopy Knob is an open-source control dial for your PC

Ploopy has announced another desktop accessory called the Ploopy Knob that can function like a control dial for adjusting volume, scrolling documents, or scrubbing through media on a computer. The Canadian company isn't exactly a household name like Logitech, but Ploopy's open-source peripherals offer a lot of customizability, and like its mouse and trackballs, you can customize the look of the Knob by 3D-printing your own hardware. The Ploopy Knob is available now through the company's website for $49.99 CAD (around $37). Unlike many of the company's other products, which can be purchased as cheaper DIY kits you build yourself, the Knob is only available as a fully assembled product with software preinstalled that works right out of the box. However, since it's open-source, you can download all the design files and software on Ploopy's GitHub page if you want to source the parts and build your own from scratch. Powered by a Raspberry Pi RP2040 microcontroller, the Ploopy Knob uses a position sensor with a 12-bit resolution and a polling rate of over 1kHz to track its rotational movements. The company says the Knob supports high-resolution pixel-by-pixel scrolling on Windows and Linux, but warns that the experience may not be as smooth on Apple computers. 'macOS does smoothing for input devices automatically. This interferes with the code that runs on the Knob, meaning that pixel-by-pixel high-resolution scrolling doesn't work on macOS. It still functions as a scrolling device, but the scrolling is in discrete steps.' As with the company's other peripherals, the Ploopy Knob uses the open-source QMK firmware, which runs entirely on the device so you don't need to install additional software on your computer.

BofA Securities Reduces PT on Centene Corporation (CNC) Stock

Centene Corporation (NYSE:CNC) is one of the 10 Best Value Stocks to Buy According to Billionaires. On July 2, BofA Securities reduced its price objective on the company's stock to $52.00 from $65.00, while maintaining a 'Neutral' rating. The reduction in price target comes after Centene Corporation (NYSE:CNC)'s withdrawal of its 2025 guidance as a result of higher acuity in its Marketplace population, as well as higher-than-anticipated Medicaid trend, added the firm. It highlighted that the company saw better-than-anticipated trends in Medicare Advantage business. A doctor holding a clipboard in a hospital ward, discussing patient treatment plan with the nurses. For Q1 2025, Centene Corporation (NYSE:CNC) highlighted that premium and service revenues went up by 17% to $42.5 billion from $36.3 billion in the comparable period of 2024. This rise was mainly aided by premium and membership growth in the PDP business, together with healthy product positioning and overall market growth in the Marketplace business. At March 31, 2025, Centene Corporation (NYSE:CNC) had cash, investments, and restricted deposits of $37.0 billion, while it maintained $198 million of cash and cash equivalents in its unregulated entities. In Q1 2025, the company saw Membership increases of 29% in Marketplace and 22% in Medicare PDP as compared to Q1 2024. River Road Asset Management, an investment management company, released its Q4 2024 investor letter. Here is what the fund said: 'The holding with the lowest contribution to active return was Centene Corporation (NYSE:CNC) , a managed care organization (MCO) specializing in government-sponsored plans. Historically, health insurance has been a steady business that generates consistent free cash flow (CNC has produced positive FCF since 1998), and we believe CNC stands out as the prime MCO beneficiary of any future economic weakness. The company is the leading provider of Medicaid managed care plans with 17% market share, and it also owns the leading individual exchange franchise. When the economy stumbles, CNC's revenues should increase as more individuals qualify for CNC's plans. We are particularly encouraged by the new management's focus on shareholder value–since the founder stepped down in Q4 2021, the company has divested seven businesses for more than $3.5B and deployed the proceeds into share repurchases. While we acknowledge the potential of CNC to grow, our conviction lies in the belief that some AI stocks hold greater promise for delivering higher returns and have limited downside risk. If you are looking for an AI stock that is more promising than CNC and that has 100x upside potential, check out our report about this cheapest AI stock. Japan's Ishiba Pushes Back Against Doubts Over US Trade Talks

(Bloomberg) -- Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba pushed back against the idea there has been little progress in negotiations with the US on a trade deal as a deadline looms for a 24% across-the-board tariff to take force. Foreign Buyers Swoop on Cape Town Homes, Pricing Out Locals NYC Commutes Resume After Midtown Bus Terminal Crash Chaos Massachusetts to Follow NYC in Making Landlords Pay Broker Fees Struggling Downtowns Are Looking to Lure New Crowds What Gothenburg Got Out of Congestion Pricing 'The talks are steadily but undoubtedly moving forward. There are a wide range of areas including non-tariff barriers that are being covered, but the talks on each of these points are progressing, step by step,' he said in a televised interview Thursday evening. He struck a different tone from US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who said on Thursday that Japan's upper house election on July 20 is putting 'domestic constraints' on sealing a potential trade deal. Bessent's comments followed a slew of critical comments about Japan in recent days from President Donald Trump. Ishiba was likely trying to play down concerns that Japan will not be able to win major concessions from the US and could also get blindsided by a unilateral US decision to impose tariffs as high as 35%. Still, he gave no indication that a deal was imminent ahead of the July 9 start of higher 'reciprocal' tariff rates. The July 20 upper house election cited by Bessent will see voters deliver a verdict on the performance of Ishiba's minority government. Inflation is the top concern of the electorate, according to opinion polls, but a rushed trade deal that is seen giving Trump too many concessions would not be favorably viewed. Japan is most concerned about a separate sectoral tariff of 25% on its auto industry, one of the economy's key drivers of growth and a major employer. Japan's trade negotiators have insisted that the auto tariffs must be part of any deal and have emphasized the sector's contribution to investment and job creation in the US. Trump has criticized Japan in recent days for not buying US cars or rice and threatened to raise the reciprocal tariff as high as 35%, raising fears that he may be targeting the country in his mission to reshape global trade arrangements. The premier said some of Trump's understanding of trade between Japan and the US was based on inaccuracies. 'President Trump has said there are no American cars in Japan, and Japan doesn't import US rice, but these claims are based on misconceptions,' he said. 'Japan is the biggest investor in the US and creates the most jobs, so I'd like to see those efforts appreciated as well.'
