
Shine Launches the Recruiter Challenge to Redefine Hiring in Saudi Arabia - Middle East Business News and Information
Through this innovative approach to recruitment, Shine is inviting candidates to interview its team in an effort to find the best recruiters in Saudi. 'We're hiring, but we don't want to interview you — we want you to interview us,' the job advertisement said.
Established in 2020, Shine excels at providing staffing services for events and experiences in Saudi, particularly for roles that shape the visitor experience — including guest experience staff, hosts and hostesses, tour guides, and protocol teams. The company works alongside its partners to elevate some of the biggest events in the Kingdom — from Formula 1 and the FIFA Club World Cup in sports, to the Islamic Arts Biennale and Noor Riyadh in the arts, and major music festivals like MDLBeast Soundstorm and Azimuth.
Shine took the traditional concept of open days — where companies invite potential candidates for job interviews — and added an innovative twist. It began when Shine was hiring tour guides for Noor Riyadh, the world's largest light art festival. Instead of standard interviews, Shine launched 'Shine Museum,' a themed open day where candidates memorized art pieces and auditioned as tour guides.
Another example is 'Ladies Night,' where Shine transformed its office into a celebration of female talent and empowerment. Interviews took place amid pink glitter and karaoke, with many candidates calling it the most enjoyable interview they've ever had.
Now, in a first of its kind initiative, Shine is launching the #Recruiter_Challenge. 'We've 'turned the tables' and put the power in the candidates' hands. This experience is curated to be an exciting and enjoyable way to bring out the best in the candidate, the main objective being hiring the best recruiters through seeing them in action', said Saud Al Hashil, founder of Shine.
'We believe these efforts strengthen our ties to the community, and allows the candidates to show their full potential. We've discovered there isn't one way to spot talent. The more creative you allow candidates to be, the more they'll shine.' Al Hashil added.

Saudi announces $5 billion in Syria investments - Region
A Saudi delegation visiting Damascus on Wednesday inked investment and partnership deals valued at $5 billion to help rebuild war-battered Syria, the oil-rich Gulf kingdom announced. Saudi Arabia has been a major backer of the new Syrian government, which seized power after Islamist-led rebels toppled longtime ruler Bashar al-Assad in December following 14 years of civil war. The delegation of some 150 investors and representatives of the Saudi public and private sectors, led by Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih, attended a forum in Damascus. "The announced investments, valued at 19 billion Saudi riyals (about $5 billion), span vital and strategic sectors, including real estate, infrastructure, communications and IT, transportation and logistics, industry, tourism, energy, trade," and more, a statement from the investment ministry said. On Tuesday, the ministry had said the Damascus forum aimed to "explore cooperation opportunities and sign agreements that enhance sustainable development and serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples". Earlier this month, President Donald Trump formalised the dismantling of US sanctions on Syria, hoping to reintegrate the country into the global economy. He had already lifted most of the measures in May, responding to appeals from Saudi Arabia and Turkey. The US president met Syria's interim leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa, during a visit to Saudi Arabia the same month. Sharaa, a former jihadist, had also paid a visit to Riyadh in February in his first trip abroad since Assad's ouster. Earlier this year, Saudi Arabia and Qatar pledged to settle Syria's debt to the World Bank, totalling about $15 million. Despite vows to unify the country, the new government in Damascus has struggled to maintain order, with deadly clashes involving minority groups raising questions about Syria's stability. Bloody violence in Sweida province earlier this month started with clashes between Druze fighters and Sunni Bedouin tribes, but soon escalated, with Israel later intervening with air strikes targeting government installations. More than 1,300 people, mostly Druze, were estimated to have been killed during the fighting, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor. NEW ALAMEIN, July 21 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli has emphasized the significance of the agreement on the promotion and protection of mutual investments signed between Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Most of the longstanding issues faced by Saudi investors in Egypt have already been resolved—something that has been well received and praised by Saudi investors themselves, Madbouli added during his meeting on Monday with Ayedh Al-Qahtani, Chairman of Saudi Arabia's Sumou Holding. Held at the government headquarters in New Alamein City, the meeting reviewed the Saudi group's investment plans in Egypt. The meeting was attended by the group's CEO Saeed Salem Al-Nahdi, CEO of Sumou Investment Abdulrahman Al-Qahtani, CEO of Adeer Real Estate Company Meteb Al Saad Al-Qahtani, CEO of Adeer International Bassel El Serafy, Managing Director and CEO of Midar for Investment and Urban Development Ayman ElKousey, and COO of Adeer International Ahmed Helmy. The premier affirmed the Egyptian government is offering every possible incentive and facilitation for investors and creating a favorable investment environment across all sectors, noting that he directed relevant ministers to put this file as a top priority. He added that the government is working to attract foreign investments and welcomes Saudi investors and Sumou's initiative for establishing real estate investment funds. Meanwhile, Ayedh Al-Qahtani said Sumou is one of the largest real estate development companies with two subsidiaries —Sumou Real Estate and Adeer Real Estate— listed on the Saudi stock exchange. "We are working on launching a real estate fund in Egypt," he added. Sumou Real Estate and Sumou Holding are among the largest developers in Medina, Mecca, and other Saudi cities, he noted. Qahtani pointed out that the group operates in Egypt through Adeer and has previously partnered with several Egyptian companies in Saudi Arabia. "We are eager to invest in Egypt and will soon announce our first project in the Egyptian market," he said. Qahtani also praised Egypt's recent achievements, especially in infrastructure and new city construction, such as the New Administrative Capital and New Al Alamein City. "Real estate funds will create a major shift in Egypt's investment landscape, and we plan to invest strategically in this sector," he noted. He also commended the agreement on the promotion and protection of mutual investments between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, noting that it would encourage many Saudi investors to inject investments into the Egyptian market.
