A MAN caught on a Ring doorbell making an allegedly lewd gesture at the homeowner was let off by police - after he told them "I had ants in my pants".
Gabrielle Davies, 21, from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, claims she was standing at her doorway when the man made the crude motion towards her.

She was able to save the footage of the incident, which shows the man in the neighbouring garden look toward Gabrielle's front door before making what appears to be a mock-masturbating motion with his hands down his pants.
Disabled Gabrielle called South Yorkshire Police, who came and took a statement from her community nurse.
According to an email seen by The Sun, the investigating officer says she tracked down the man in the video footage, who does not live at the residence and is not based in South Yorkshire.
However, the police told Gabrielle in an email: "He has given his version of events, stating that he was shaking ants [from] his shorts due to being sat on the grass prior.
"He states that he did not see Gabrielle or speak to her at any point."
The officer adds that it would be hard to prove malicious intent without seeing the footage leading up to the incident.
As a result, the policewoman said the investigation has been closed following a discussion with her duty sergeant.
Gabrielle, who lives in the house with her partner Joseph, said: "When the police went to speak to him he said he was shaking ants from his pants.
"I really don't know how she believed that. I feel like it's not been investigated properly.
"His excuse was pathetic, his gesture was clearly directed to me.

"People online are saying my neighbours are angry because the Ring doorbell is pointed into their garden but it's actually just pointing straight out from our front door.
"I want the police to reinvestigate it, he needs to be charged with indecency. I'm classed as a vulnerable person being disabled."
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: "We take every report of crime seriously, with a full investigation launched into this incident.
"Following numerous enquiries, including the gathering of CCTV and witness statements, this investigation was filed due to a lack of a realistic prospect of conviction."

Cops found the baby "clinging to life" when they visited the house in south Phoenix, Arizona. Bodycam footage shows officers calling into the house from the yard, and then breaking to door down when they received no response. A tiny baby wrapped in blankets can be seen lying in the bed alongside its mother's body. An officer puts the child in a stroller before medics take over and deliver life-saving care. Phoenix Police said: 'Inside the home, they discovered the mother had passed away and her baby was still alive, severely dehydrated and clinging to life. "This business has clearly failed to meet the prevention of crime and disorder and public safety objectives.' As a result, the café was slapped with a £135,000 fine in April for illegally employing three migrants. Customers were also found to be smoking shisha in the basement during an enforcement visit in May with police and trading officers. They seized 45 unlabelled tubs of shisha tobacco. Lawyers for the café's owners said in a letter to the council: 'Immediately upon becoming aware of the reported issues, our client undertook swift and decisive action by evicting the tenant responsible for the unauthorised activities.' The café has now suggested suspending its license for three months. This is to ensure that "right-to-work" immigration checks are carried out on all staff members.
