Gaza's Children Face Systematic Genocide, New Report Warns
The report, titled 'Gaza's Children Under Fire: Systematic Genocide and a Cry for Help,' outlines the devastating toll the war has taken on Gaza's youngest population since the conflict erupted on October 7, 2023.
According to the findings, over 17,000 children have been killed in Israeli attacks, while more than 33,900 others have been injured. The report also estimates that approximately 4,000 children remain missing, many of whom are believed to be buried under rubble. The number of orphans in the territory has surpassed 40,000.
'This is one of the deadliest and most targeted assaults on children in modern history,' the report stated, emphasizing the scale and brutality of the attacks.
Beyond physical harm, the fact sheet highlights a deepening mental health crisis among Gaza's children. Nearly 50% are suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), while tens of thousands display signs of severe trauma, including nightmares, bed-wetting, mutism, and aggressive behavior. A separate study by War Child found that 96% of children now live in constant fear, believing death is imminent.
The report also sheds light on the destruction of Gaza's educational infrastructure, revealing that 95% of schools have been either partially or totally damaged, with more than 1,200 schools rendered completely inoperable. This has left around 625,000 children out of school and deprived of their right to education.
Additionally, the war has resulted in the displacement of 1.9 million people, half of them children, and the destruction of over 92% of homes in the Gaza Strip.
The report expresses particular concern over malnutrition, noting that 5,119 children were treated for severe acute malnutrition in May 2025 alone—a 150% increase compared to February during a brief ceasefire.
In its conclusion, the center issued a desperate plea to the international community, calling for:
• The immediate and permanent opening of humanitarian corridors;
• The implementation of an emergency plan to address both mental health care and alternative education systems;
• Protection for unaccompanied and orphaned children;
• And the international prosecution of Israeli officials for war crimes against children.
'The scale of suffering endured by Gaza's children is staggering,' the report stated. 'What is happening is not a byproduct of war—it is a deliberate, systematic erasure of an entire generation.'
International organizations and human rights advocates have echoed the call for urgent action as the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza deepens with no clear end in sight.

Famine Strangles Gaza Amid Ongoing Israeli Genocide
DaysofPal- Israeli occupation forces continue to choke the lives of civilians in Gaza using the weapons of hunger and thirst alongside rockets and shelling, amid a noticeable rise in malnutrition cases among children and adults, flooding a health system unable to cope with the grim reality of the ongoing genocide war for 21 months. According to recent statistics by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), one in every ten children examined in its clinics suffers from malnutrition. The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) reported over 5,800 cases of child malnutrition in June alone, marking the fourth consecutive month of increase. At her modest tent on the beach in Deir al-Balah city, Riham Hassouna, displaced ten times since the war began from Khan Younis, faces an uncertain fate. She said, 'The war has exhausted us. Diseases have invaded our bodies; we have all aged… Where is the world? Where are the UN and human rights organizations? Stop this genocide.' She added to 'Palestine Online': 'Our children cry from the heat and hunger… We have not tasted bread for a week.' Gaza, where nearly two million people live in areas that do not exceed 15% of the Strip due to Israeli military operations, suffers from a severe flour shortage. This vital commodity is only available through the so-called 'death route' leading to aid distribution points run by the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, backed by the US and the Israeli occupation. The UN Human Rights Commission has documented the killing of at least 875 Palestinians in the past six weeks near aid distribution points adjacent to Israeli army sites. Inside her plastic tent, Manal Sahwil holds her daughter Dana, who has cerebral palsy since birth. The mother laments the hardship of life after her husband was killed in the war, leaving her with six children, one of whom requires daily treatment, nutrition, and clean water. She told 'Palestine Online': 'I cannot provide the minimum necessities for my children; no food, no drink, not even diapers… Most days, the children sleep hungry.' Meanwhile, World Food Program Executive Director Cindy McCain said families in Gaza are starving while the program has enough food at the borders to feed over a million people for four months. However, it cannot deliver these supplies due to Israel's tight blockade of all crossings since early March. Despite recent rumors of an agreement between the European Union and Israel to allow more food trucks into Gaza and open additional crossing points, European foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas announced, the director of Gaza's network of civil society organizations, Amjad Al-Shawa, denied knowledge of such an agreement, affirming Gaza's ongoing famine and unprecedented humanitarian disaster. Al-Shawa told 'Palestine Online': 'Israel still enforces a strict military siege on all crossings and does not allow the entry of aid trucks or food, medicine, or even baby supplies.' He added, 'We have only heard about this agreement through media reports, but there are no tangible changes or field actions. The living conditions continue to worsen after 135 days of a complete closure of all Gaza's outlets.' He pointed to the collapse of the sector's hospitals due to shortages of medicine, fuel, and medical supplies, greatly increasing risks to patients and health facilities. He also highlighted the summer water crisis caused by the destruction of 85% of the infrastructure by the occupation and the prevention of fuel delivery needed to operate the remaining water wells, forcing residents to use unsafe water and leading to epidemics and diseases. Al-Shawa confirmed that the occupation deliberately engineers starvation in Gaza and militarizes aid to deepen the humanitarian crisis in the besieged Strip. He called on the international community to pressure the occupation to fully open all crossings and allow UN and local organizations to deliver food, medical, and vital supplies, and ultimately to stop the genocide war. Rights Group: No Safe Place for the Elderly and People with Disabilities in Gaza
DaysofPal—The Global Protection Group has confirmed in a detailed human rights report that the elderly and people with disabilities in the Gaza Strip are facing catastrophic conditions, stressing that 'there is no safe place in Gaza' for these vulnerable groups amid the ongoing Israeli aggression. The Global Protection Group is an international network that includes UN agencies concerned with human rights, in addition to international and civil society organizations. The report stated that the protective environment for these individuals has been destroyed as a result of over 20 months of violent hostilities, rendering Gaza uninhabitable, especially for those with special needs and the elderly. According to documented data, the number of people injured since the beginning of the war has reached 134,105, including more than 40,500 children, who sustained direct injuries due to bombings and military operations. The report indicated that nearly 25% of new injuries resulted in permanent disabilities, requiring long-term and continuous rehabilitation, at a time when Gaza's healthcare system is collapsing. Additionally, the group recorded that over 35,000 people have suffered significant hearing loss due to the intensity of explosions. Meanwhile, ten children lose one or both legs every day due to ongoing Israeli airstrikes, exacerbating the suffering of an entire generation and putting their future at grave risk. The report concluded by asserting that the repeated targeting of civilians, especially the most vulnerable, such as the elderly and people with disabilities, amounts to war crimes and demands urgent international accountability. Gaza Doctors Warn of ‘Death Sentence' for Patients
DaysofPal – A senior official in Gaza's Ministry of Health has warned of an unfolding humanitarian catastrophe as the Strip's healthcare system teeters on the brink of total collapse. With the near-total depletion of medicines, medical supplies, and fuel, thousands of patients, including children, the chronically ill, and cancer patients, are now at imminent risk of death. Zakaria Abu Qamar, acting director general of pharmacy, sounded the alarm in a press briefing, revealing that 47% of essential medicines are now entirely unavailable. The situation is even more dire when it comes to medical consumables, with a shortage rate of 65%, effectively rendering half of Gaza's healthcare services non-operational. 'Oncology and hematology services are among the worst hit,' Abu Qamar said, 'with 67% of cancer medications completely missing. This has left thousands of patients without life-saving treatment.' He added that more than 51% of primary care medications for chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and kidney failure, are no longer available. Patients are being forced to rely on ineffective substitutes, increasing the risk of serious complications, including heart attacks and strokes. Medical teams are now seeing a sharp rise in both, he noted, along with a spike in hospital admissions. Displacement has only made matters worse. The ongoing Israeli assault has forced patients to move repeatedly, cutting them off from consistent care and making it nearly impossible for doctors to monitor or assess their conditions. The crisis is not limited to the medical field. Gaza's hospitals are running out of fuel, which powers generators that are the only source of electricity for medical facilities under siege. At Al-Shifa Medical Complex, Gaza's largest hospital, Director Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmiya announced the suspension of general services and warned that a complete shutdown is expected within hours. Al-Helou Hospital, he added, has less than four hours of fuel left. Dr. Khalil al-Dakran, spokesperson for Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, echoed the alarm, saying that nearly all hospitals in Gaza are on the verge of closure due to the Israeli blockade and fuel ban. 'The lives of around one million people, including 600,000 children, are at immediate risk,' he said. Al-Dakran stated that the Israeli policy of restricting fuel deliveries is threatening the survival of 300,000 patients with heart and kidney diseases and those requiring intensive care or urgent surgeries. 'Without fuel, our generators stop, and that is a death sentence for patients in these vital departments,' he warned in an interview with Al Jazeera. With entire hospitals shutting down or operating at bare minimum capacity, administrators are being forced to close outpatient clinics and non-emergency departments. Meanwhile, hundreds of wounded civilians continue to pour in daily, overwhelming the few facilities still functioning. 'This is not just a medical crisis,' said one health worker in central Gaza. 'It is the systematic destruction of an entire health system, and the world is watching in silence.' Shortlink for this post:
