Former Texas A&M star Alex Caruso Shines in NBA Finals with career night and series tied
The NBA Finals feature two former Texas A&M Aggies competing for a championship, and on a career night, Alex Caruso helped tie the series at 1-1 with an impressive playoff performance.
Caruso is not typically known for his scoring prowess, but he has built his reputation as a high-energy defender who challenges the league's most elite guards. However, in Game 2, he became the sixth undrafted player in the last decade to score 20+ points in a Finals game. Most of his damage came from beyond the arc, where he shot 4-for-8, tallying 12 points. He was also perfect from the free-throw line, going 4-for-4.
Now in his ninth season, Caruso has another chance to earn an NBA championship ring, his first came in 2020 with the Los Angeles Lakers. Since then, he has remained a solid defensive presence, earning NBA All-Defensive First and Second Team honors in 2023 and 2024.
A&M fans will have reason to celebrate either way, whether Caruso secures his second ring or Quenton Jackson earns his first. We wish them both the best of luck for the remainder of the series.

Best of Derrick White with the Boston Celtics in 2024-25

The coming 2025-26 NBA regular season could very well be the best season yet for Boston Celtics point guard Derrick White. The University of Colorado native could have the best campaign of his eight-season career to date with the Celtics having dealt away vet guard Jrue Holiday as part of several moves that Boston's front office made to get ahead of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA)'s dreaded second apron penalties. But last season, White was already very good for the Celtics, putting up career-highs in points (16.4 per game), rebounds (4.5 per game), and blocks (1.1 per game) while logging 4.8 assists and just under a steal per game. He also shot 44.2% from the floor overall, 38.4% from beyond the arc, and 83.9% from the free throw line. The folks behind the official "Boston Celtics" YouTube channel put together a clip of the best of White's play from 2024-25 for us to watch while we wait for the start of next season. How to watch Liberty at Lynx: Long-awaited WNBA Finals rematch arrives

The New York Liberty and Minnesota Lynx went the distance in the 2024 WNBA Finals, culminating in an exhilarating Game 5 that's still considered controversial (depending on which fan base you ask). Since the start of the 2025 season, they've played every team in the league besides each other. Finally, almost a year later, we'll get our rematch. Advertisement Live coverage is also available on ESPN+. The Liberty have largely met expectations, if not for a few missteps along the way. Injuries and absences have taken their toll — Jonquel Jones has missed 12 games, Leonie Fiebich seven — and Breanna Stewart, who was fortunate to avoid a significant leg injury in Saturday's loss to the Los Angeles Sparks, is currently without a timetable for return. And that's not to mention Betnijah Laney-Hamilton, who remains out for the remainder of the season after undergoing knee surgery in March. Despite that, this offense is even more potent than the one that carried New York to its first title in 2024. Sandy Brondello's squad ranks first in scoring and pace, and although the Liberty rank just eighth in points allowed per game, their third-place defensive rating is more indicative of the level this team performs at on a nightly basis. Meanwhile, runaway MVP favorite Napheesa Collier has helped guide the first-place Lynx to an impeccable 22-5 record. Minnesota ranks No. 1 in offensive, defensive and overall net rating. It's also the most efficient shooting team at a 46.4 percent clip, and leads the league in assists and blocks per game. Collier's counting stats are immaculate, but she has a stellar supporting cast behind her, too. Courtney Williams is fearless. Kayla McBride is one of the league's deadliest shooters. And don't overlook Alanna Smith, who's become an elite rim protector. From top to bottom, there's a lot to love about this Lynx squad. Minnesota is a sizable favorite in this first matchup — and for good reason. This group is 14-1 at Target Center, and Stewart's injury looms large for New York. Emma Meesseman gives the Liberty a nice plug-and-play option alongside Jones while Stewart recovers, but she's yet to make her debut, and it could take some time for her to get accustomed to the WNBA again following a three-year hiatus. Advertisement The Liberty and Lynx will meet three more times this season. From Aug. 10-19, Minnesota will exclusively play New York. Game-to-game adjustments will be paramount as both sides continue jockeying for the top spot in the standings. McErlean planning 'step forward' at Rally Finland

Josh McErlean says it will be a "special feeling" to compete at Rally Finland in the World Rally Championship. The rally is considered one of the crown jewel events of the WRC and is known as the 'Gravel Grand Prix' due to it's fast, flowing roads and iconic jumps. Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy driver McErlean, 26, is in his debut season in the top tier of the WRC with M-Sport and heads into the event off the back of a solid performance in Estonia. "Rally Finland is an event I've been looking forward to ever since we got the opportunity to compete at Rally1 level," said McErlean. "This weekend is about taking a step forward, trusting in ourselves, committing fully to the pacenotes, and starting to bring everything we have learnt together. "The key will be confidence and rhythm, and I'm ready to enjoy every moment of the ride through the forests." McErlean and co-driver Eoin Treacy finished ninth in their Ford Puma in Estonia - a rally which consists of similar traits to the iconic stages of Finland. The Northern Ireland driver wants to build on momentum gained from Estonia and said "it is all part of the learning process". "Estonia gave us exactly what we needed, a clean rally, strong pace progression, and something to build from," McErlean added. "From Saturday onwards in Estonia it was challenging running second on the road, and hopefully we can be a little higher up the order this time, but I certainly now know what to expect if we are in that position again. "Now for me, it's about fine-tuning, pushing where we can, and keeping that upward curve going." The rally begins on Thursday and the final of 20 stages takes place on Sunday.
