Trump says he will help Afghans stuck in the UAE
Despite previously halting refugee resettlement upon taking office in January and ending temporary deportation protections for thousands of Afghans in April, Trump took to Truth Social to express support for those stranded. 'I will try to save them, starting right now,' he wrote, linking to an article about the Afghans currently in limbo in the UAE.
The UAE, a key U.S. security ally, agreed in 2021 to temporarily shelter thousands of Afghans evacuated from Kabul during the final days of the U.S. military withdrawal, as the Taliban overran the U.S.-backed Afghan government.
In 2022, Canada responded to a U.S. request and committed to resettling around 1,000 of the Afghans still being housed in the UAE. However, the exact number of those who remain in the Gulf state is currently unknown.
Since the chaotic evacuation from Kabul, the Biden administration has brought nearly 200,000 Afghans to the United States. This group includes family members of Afghan-American U.S. service members, unaccompanied children reuniting with parents, relatives of already-admitted Afghans, and tens of thousands who worked with the U.S. government during its 20-year presence in Afghanistan.

Yemeni Government Spokesman: Yemen's position on Palestine is unshakable
Sana'a – SABA: Hashem Sharaf al-Din, Minister of Information and Spokesman for the Government of Change and Development, affirmed that Yemen's stance on the Palestinian cause remains unshakable and steadfast — both officially and popularly. In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), Sharaf al-Din stated that Yemen, with its resilient people and wise leadership, will continue to stand firmly with Gaza and its people. He stressed that Yemen's position is not a temporary sentiment but a deep-rooted commitment echoed by millions across the country, aligned with the principled leadership and reflected in significant support — both material and symbolic — as well as through major operations carried out by the valiant Yemeni armed forces against the Israeli enemy and its American partner. He emphasized that Yemen does not and will never accept the illegitimate Israeli presence in Palestine or any other Arab land, nor the so-called 'deals of shame and betrayal' being marketed under false pretenses to liquidate the Palestinian cause. Sharaf al-Din stated that the Israeli occupation entity represents a stain of disgrace upon anyone who accepts or cooperates with it — the same entity committing acts of genocide against defenseless Palestinians in Gaza, attacking Muslim and Christian holy sites, displacing people, and implementing a broader scheme to subjugate the Arab and Islamic world. He continued, 'We categorically reject any statement or position — whether from within or outside Yemen — that seeks to distort this unwavering stance or promote false narratives contrary to the national consensus. We condemn any attempt to detach Yemen from its principled, faith-based, moral, and humanitarian support for Palestine.' He concluded by affirming that the Palestinian cause is sacred and unites all Yemenis, with no room for compromise or retreat. 'In the promised battle of liberation and sacred jihad,' he said, 'we will continue our unwavering support for our brothers in Gaza through all legitimate means until the aggression ends and the siege is lifted, God willing.' Democratic Front: Denying deliberate starvation, killing crime against humanity
Gaza - Saba: The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine described "US envoy Steve Witkoff's denial of the existence of famine and starvation in the Gaza Strip, and his claim that the matter is nothing more than a shortage of food, as a crime against humanity and against our people and their dignity as they fall to starvation or are killed by enemy fire. The American company's aid distribution centers have been transformed into death traps." The Democratic Front said in a statement, on Monday, received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba): Famine and starvation do not stop at the borders of the lack of food, but rather extend to the lack of clean water and medicine in light of the collapse of the health system in hospitals and health centers. It is also represented by the absence of security due to the hostile actions through which the enemy forces launch their raids on residential areas in the systematic destruction of what remains of buildings, residences and shelters. Famine and starvation are also represented by the lack of fuel for ambulances to rescue the sick and injured, and the lack of emergency teams of the necessary tools to rescue the injured from under the rubble, or recover bodies from underneath it. The Democratic Front added: "The enemy state has turned the Gaza Strip into a place of death in various forms. "If the American envoy, Witkoff, does not see this in the Strip for what it really is, then he, as the envoy of the Trump administration, should re-examine the intervention of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Commissioner for Human Rights in the international mission at the New York Conference, which was boycotted by the United States and Israel, in open hostility to the legitimate national rights of our people to freedom, independence, and the right of return, and in open insistence on continuing the barbaric war against our people in the Gaza Strip, as well as in the West Bank, where the machine of systematic killing and destruction in the northern West Bank has not stopped, nor have the rampages of the armed militia gangs of settlers within the framework of the annexation plan and the reduction of the area of the Palestinian Authority's jurisdiction and powers." The Democratic Front reiterated its affirmation that patchwork solutions, as well as attempts to cover up the occupation's brutal practices against our people, will not deceive the international community, which has begun to regain its awareness of the nature of the racist, fascist, and bloody Zionist project and the truth about the premeditated objectives against our people in the Gaza Strip, including efforts to force them to leave the Strip in a large-scale displacement operation under the pretext of voluntary migration. The Front said "our people's right to demand that the International Court of Justice assume its responsibilities in holding the enemy state accountable for its starvation war against our people, and to demand that the International Criminal Court prosecute all those who have committed war crimes against our people in the Gaza Strip, from Netanyahu to his war ministers, his army chiefs of staff, and his fascist followers in the government." The Democratic Front concluded: "The only solution to save our people in the Gaza Strip is to stop the war of extermination and starvation, to completely withdraw the enemy forces from the Gaza Strip, and to redress the damage inflicted on our people by immediately supplying them with all the elements of a decent life, including food, fuel, water, medical equipment and medicine, and to rebuild the infrastructure, in preparation for launching a project to rebuild the Gaza Strip, in cooperation with sister Egypt, the Arab countries and friendly countries and peoples."
