Donald Trump to open resort's second golf course on final day in Scotland

The US president's fifth day in Scotland on Tuesday follows a meeting and press conference with Sir Keir Starmer on Monday.

The president has played several rounds of golf during his Scottish trip, teeing off at his other resort in Turnberry, Ayrshire, on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
As they met at Turnberry for bilateral talks on trade and the situation in Gaza, Mr Trump and Sir Keir took part in what proved to be a lengthy press conference, with the president discussing a number of topics.
The Republican Party leader spoke of his 'great love' for Scotland and said he wanted to see the nation 'thrive'.
He returned to his long-running objections to wind turbines, branding them 'ugly monsters' and speaking of his admiration for North Sea oil and gas.

Discussing the war in Ukraine, Mr Trump said he was 'very disappointed' in Russian President Vladimir Putin and suggested he would bring forward a deadline for Russia to agree to a ceasefire.
The US president called Sir Sadiq Khan a 'nasty person', which prompted Sir Keir to come to the defence of his 'friend' the London Mayor.
Construction of the new course in Menie began in 2023, with Mr Trump and his son Eric breaking ground on the project.

Trump International Scotland claims the two courses will be the 'greatest 36 holes in golf'.
The second course is expected to be dedicated to the president's mother, Mary Anne MacLeod, who was born on the Isle of Lewis.
Critics say the Trump developments in Scotland have not delivered as many jobs as promised and work at the Menie site has caused environmental damage.
Mr Trump and Sir Keir landed at Menie aboard Marine One, the president's helicopter, which was seen circling the new course before it touched down on Monday evening.

The president then hosted a dinner at Menie with members of his family and guests including Scottish First Minister John Swinney.
A demonstration took place in Balmedie, near the resort, on Monday.
A small number of protesters sat at the roadside in the centre of the village, surrounded by cardboard signs bearing anti-Trump slogans.

Trump attacks ‘racist sleazebag' Charlamagne tha God after radio host criticized him on Lara Trump's show

President Donald Trump launched a bruising attack on radio host Charlamagne tha God on Truth Social early Sunday morning after The Breakfast Club host suggested the president's devoted base would pivot to a more traditional conservative candidate after the Epstein Files situation. Referring to Charlamagne, whose real name is Lenard McKelvey, as a 'racist sleazebag,' Trump claimed the radio host is a 'Low IQ individual' who does not know anything. 'He's a Low IQ individual, has no idea what words are coming out of his mouth, and knows nothing about me or what I have done,' Trump said before listing his international and domestic successes. The president's comment was made after Charlamagne joined Lara Trump, the president's daughter-in-law, on her Fox News show My View. On the show, Charlamagne said that traditional Republicans would capitalize on the MAGA base's disgruntlement with Trump to change the Republican Party. 'I think there is a political coup going on right now in the Republican Party,' Charlamagne told Lara Trump. 'I think this Epstein thing is going to be a way for traditional conservatives to take their party back.' Charlamagne was referring to the fallout between the president and some members of his base after refusing to release the Epstein Files – information the government collected while investigating convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Trump did not specify whether or not one specific comment from Charlamagne set him off, but the president's anger toward the radio host was tangible in his Truth Social post. 'The very wonderful and talented Lara Trump, whose show is a big ratings success, put racist sleazebag Charlamagne 'The God' (Why is he allowed to use the word 'GOD' when describing himself? Can anyone imagine the uproar there would be if I used that nickname?).' Trump, who has repeatedly compared himself to Jesus Christ, wrote. Recently, the president has been sensitive about the Epstein Files situation, occasionally snapping at reporters who ask about it. Trump had promised to release the Epstein Files, which many had speculated contained a list of high-profile individuals associated with Epstein and his alleged decades-long sex trafficking scheme involving girls and women. However, senior officials in the Trump administration poured cold water on the speculation, confirming there was no 'client list' and Epstein died by suicide while in federal jail in 2019. As a result, some MAGA supporters pushed back on the president, accusing him of failing to keep a promise to protect high-profile individuals, potentially including himself, from being associated with Epstein. Although Trump and Epstein were friends years ago, the president has maintained that he did not have a relationship with Epstein by the time he faced formal allegations of sexual abuse. Last month, the Wall Street Journal reported that Trump sent Epstein a 'bawdy' birthday letter referencing 'secrets' – however, Trump has also denied that and sued the Journal for libel. While Trump has not been accused of any formal wrongdoing or charged with any crime, his proximity to Epstein, someone he once called a friend, has heightened conspiracy theories that the government is withholding documents that could reveal embarrassing information about high-profile individuals. Appearing in the files also does not indicate that an individual has committed any wrongdoing. Charlamagne maintained that the situation may give traditional conservatives, such as Nikki Haley, the chance to swoop in and appeal to MAGA voters. 'They know that this is the issue that has gotten the base riled up, the MAGA base isn't letting this issue go,' Charlamagne said. 'And for the first time, they know they can probably take their party back and not piss off the MAGA base.'

Peaceful pink-wearing mothers' migrants protest turns to violence: Masked men hijack demonstration, trying to rush gates at asylum seekers hotel before police crack down

A peaceful protest by mothers wearing pink turned to violence this afternoon as masked thugs hijacked the demonstration outside a migrant hotel. The group of women and children gathered outside the four-star Britannia International hotel in Canary Wharf, London, today where they sat and chanted 'stop the boats'. The group held up England flags and wore pink clothing to raise awareness of how women and young people are being 'let down' by the migrant crisis. But the peaceful protest quickly turned to chaos as a group of up to 30 balaclava-clad men - all with their faces covered - swarmed the crowd. The thugs caused a huge bang as they set off smoke bombs and chanted ' Keir Starmer is a w*****'. After trying to charge the fence surrounding the hotel, the group of far-right activists ran back in the direction they came from - but were caught by police and several arrests were made. Protester Kim, 60, a resident of the area, said she was demonstrating as she worries for the safety of her family. 'I live in this area, I have kids and grandkids and it needs to be safe for them to live. We don't know them [asylum seekers], we don't know what they've done. My son can't get a house; he has been on the council list since he was 17.' Speaking about the disruption from masked protesters, Kim said: 'It is disgraceful. It completely upset the atmosphere. I don't want to see that and I don't want my kids to see. 'If that was one of my children I would embarrassed. It ruined the atmosphere. This was meant to be a peaceful protest for women and children.' A 17-year-old protester, who goes by the nickname of 'Young Bob', said he is concerned migrants will struggle to 'integrate' if they are housed in hotels in Canary Wharf. Young Bob, who was part of the peaceful mothers' protest, said: 'The counter demonstrators libel us as Nazis. 'But financial districts like these are not ideal for refugees who in the long term need integration. 'During the weekday there are not a lot of people around. 'How will they assimilate into Britishness in this environment? 'Business people who had bookings in the hotel are being turned away which will impact businesses round here.' He added: 'The biggest diversity we can have is the diversity of opinion. 'The protesters who disagree with us should relax in the expletives because it demonstrates a childishness.' On Saturday, people believed to be asylum seekers appeared to move into the four-star hotel in London under the cover of darkness. A coach full of suspected migrants was seen arriving at the Britannia International Hotel at around 1.40am on Saturday morning. Tower Hamlets Council confirmed the Government intends to use the hotel - which has around 500 rooms - for asylum seekers in a move that has angered anti-migrant protesters and guests whose bookings have been cancelled. Footage of the passengers getting off the coach showed they were all men, with the vast majority dressed in matching grey tracksuit tops and bottoms. They were helped by masked security guards, some of whom appeared to be wearing body cameras. Last week, workers were seen hauling beds and mattresses into the hotel in preparation for the arrival of 'hundreds' of asylum seekers. A barricade of metal fencing was placed around the hotel by the Metropolitan Police after anti-migrant demonstrators protested the plan for immigrants to be housed there. The Daily Mail has contacted the Met Police for comment.
