Directed by Top Gun: Maverick's Joseph Kosinski, F1 finds the Fight Club actor portraying retired racer Sonny Hayes — whose career was cut short decades prior due to an injury — as he returns to the track to help former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem) save his struggling Formula 1 team, Apex Grand Prix. The film will also star Damson Idris as Joshua Pearce, the team's 'hotshot rookie intent on setting his own pace,' according to a description.
For the companion album, the filmmakers tapped Kevin Weaver to produce. The two-time Grammy winner previously oversaw the soundtrack albums for Barbie, Twisters, The Greatest Showman, Suicide Squad, Daisy Jones & The Six and Birds of Prey. Atlantic's Brandon Davis and Joseph Khoury also helped produce the F1 album.
F1 will hit theaters June 27, with the soundtrack dropping the same day. See the full artist lineup and album announcement below.

F1 2: Director Explains if Ending Scene Sets up a Sequel
director recently revealed whether the mid-credits scene of the movie leads to the sequel, F1 2. The sports drama film starring Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, released in theaters globally on June 27, 2025. Produced by Formula One racer Lewis Hamilton, apart from Pitt, F1 also features Damson Idris, Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, Kim Bodnia, Callie Cooke, and more. The Top Gun: Maverick director recently shared whether F1 2 is on the cards following the ending scene of F1. F1 follows the story of Brad Pitt's character, Sonny Hayes. The veteran Formula 1 racer returns to the track at the request of his friend and APXGP owner, Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem). At the end of the movie, he wins the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Sonny is then shown in Baja, California, in the mid-credits scene. There, he approaches an off-road racing team to see if they are hiring a driver. Next, Sonny is seen hitting the track, and the credits roll. This has led to the speculation that he might continue racing, and a sequel might happen. While speaking with GQ, director Joseph Kosinski said, 'That's up for the audience to decide. I think we leave it on a really open-ended moment for Sonny, for Kate [played by Kerry Condon], and for Joshua. So yeah, I think there's certainly more to tell of the APXGP team, and where Sonny Hayes goes from here. But that's not my decision.' Apart from F1 2, Kosinski has also expressed his desire to do a Days of Thunder and F1 crossover if he gets a chance to work with both Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. Days of Thunder is a 1990 film starring Cruise as a racer, Cole Trickle. Speaking on this, Joseph Kosinski said, 'Well, right now, it'd be Cole Trickle, who was [Cruise's] Days of Thunder character, we find out that he and Sonny Hayes have a past. They were rivals at some point, maybe crossed paths… I heard about this epic go-kart battle on Interview with a Vampire that Brad and Tom had, and who wouldn't pay to see those two go head-to-head on the track?' How F1: The Movie locked down an astounding $40 million in real sponsorship
The Brad Pitt racing action film F1: The Movie dominated the box office over its opening weekend, pulling in $55.6 million domestically and $144 million world wide. It's the best performance not only for an Apple original film, it's also the biggest opening weekend for any live-action movie based on racing (it beat out Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby's $47 million). THE BEST RACING MOVIES OF ALL TIME: The 9 greatest racing films ever While the budget of F1: The Movie has been estimated anywhere from $200-$300 million, a piece of that has apparently been chipped away by actual sponsorship sales. In the fictional story, washed up driver Sonny Hayes (Pitt) ends up joining the APX GP Formula 1 racing team alongside up-and-coming rookie Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris). While APX GP isn't a real team, the sponsorships for the driving team certainly were. According to Forbes, producer David Leneer racked up around $40 million in actual sponsorships, including Mercedes, OMP, Tommy Hilfiger, Shark, Geico, EA Sports and APX GP's main sponsor Expensify. Leneer, who Forbes' Matt Craig described as "a pioneer of brand integrations in movies for nearly 30 years," brought in more dollars for F1: The Movie than his other projects like Top Gun: Maverick or the National Treasure and Transformers series. It's a far more natural fit to put brands and logos into a movie that features a sport that is normally covered in brands and logos, but it is certainly a fascinating piece to Apple's latest release.

Brad Pitt's F1 movie has fans racing to book this unique London experience amid box office success
If you're a Formula 1 superfan riding the high of Brad Pitt's F1: The Movie blockbuster, there's a luxurious London pit stop you need on your radar. Hot off the heels of the film's record-breaking global box office debut, Hilton has unveiled the ultimate motorsport staycation: a bespoke 'Stay Like McLaren Racing' suite at London's five-star Trafalgar St. James Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton. Approved by McLaren stars Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, the exclusive suite marks 20 years of the hotel brand's high-speed partnership with the iconic racing team. Step through the suite's signature papaya-orange door and guests will find themselves immersed in the high-octane world of McLaren. Think Formula 1 memorabilia lining the walls, images of Norris and Piastri in action and a slick, futuristic design inspired by the team's paddock presence. But the showstopper? Twin racing simulators so you can channel your inner Norris (or Damson Idris) and take on the virtual track yourself. There's also a pit wall-style media console streaming race-day action and an in-room bar stocked with daily smoothie deliveries to keep you hydrated like a pro. It's not just about the thrills, it's about recovery too. The suite is kitted out with performance-focused nutrition options and restorative wellness amenities, ensuring fans can recharge with the same care as the athletes themselves. Timed perfectly around the 2025 British Grand Prix, the suite is available to book from July 8 to 20. It's also stone's throw from Trafalgar Square, where McLaren Racing Live: London will take over on July 2 and 3 with fan events, live Q&As and driver appearances. And the collaboration doesn't end in London. Another coveted spot for the upcoming GP weekend is the Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone Rooftop, with VIP views over the circuit during race weekend. With the McLaren duo fresh off a dominant 1-2 finish in Austria, hype for the British GP will be reaching fever pitch. As if the F1 fever wasn't already high, news of the suite comes just as Brad Pitt revealed he 'didn't sleep for 36 hours' after driving a 2023 McLaren MCL60 amid the promotion for F1. Speaking on BBC Radio 1, the Hollywood star admitted he hit a top speed of 197mph at the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, delivering on Norris' advice not to 'c**k it up.' 'It was Lando's '23 [car],' Pitt shared. 'I did not sleep for 36 hours afterwards. I was on such a high.' Pitt's adrenaline-fuelled scenes were filmed during actual race weekends, beginning with the 2023 British Grand Prix, with many of the sport's real-life stars appearing as themselves. The buzz surrounding F1: The Movie continues to grow, with the film now setting a new record as the biggest box office opening ever for an Apple Original, surpassing Killers of the Flower Moon. According to Deadline, the film hit $144 million globally and has already pulled in $55 million across the US and Canada alone.
