Mass protests condemn Gaza brutality, urge Muslim unity
Demonstrators burned Israeli flags and effigies of Israeli leaders, bringing traffic to a complete standstill across key parts of the city.
Protesters carried placards and banners condemning Israeli atrocities and raised slogans not only against Israel but also against its allies. Calls were made for the Muslim Ummah to unite and take decisive action against Israeli aggression.
Friday was observed as a Black Day in protest of Israel's actions. During Friday sermons, religious leaders and scholars highlighted the Palestinian issue and prayed for the success of the besieged, unarmed Palestinian people.
The rallies were organised by various groups, including Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), local shopkeepers' associations, Jamiat Ahle Sunnat, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), and the Railway Workers' Union. The demonstrations were held at major points including Murree Road, Liaquat Bagh, Railway Station, and Saddar.
The District Bar Association (DBA) also staged a protest rally against the atrocities in Gaza. A large number of female lawyers participated, and an effigy of an Israeli official was burned.
The rally ended in a sit-in at Kachehri Chowk, completely blocking all adjoining roads and intersections, with even senior government officials' vehicles stuck in traffic. For over an hour, lawyers chanted slogans demanding action.
The rally was led by Bar President Sardar Manzar Bashir and Secretary Malik Asad Mehmood, with speeches from other leaders including Taufiq Asif and Madam Tasleem Abbasi.
Speakers condemned Israeli oppression, urging Muslim leaders worldwide to move beyond mere verbal condemnation and take real, tangible actions. They called for a complete boycott of Israeli products and demanded an urgent Islamic Summit Conference to issue a united and firm message from the Muslim world. After the gathering, a large procession marched from Quaid-e-Azam Hall to Kachehri Chowk, carrying banners and placards with strong anti-Israel slogans.
A separate "Down with Israel" protest rally was held by Sunni Tehreek, during which protestors burned an Israeli flag printed with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's image on Murree Road. Addressing the crowd, Sunni Tehreek's scholar Allama Saeed Akhtar Siddiqui said that the Muslim Ummah had awakened and that the dream of a "Greater Israel" would never be realised.

Marka-e-Haq celebrations kicks off in Hyderabad

He emphasized that today's rally marks the beginning of a grand schedule of events, including a mega student flag project, a marathon race, and the Cricket Tournament. He also noted that August 4 will be observed as Martyrs' Day, and August 5 as Exploitation Day, with various events planned to commemorate both occasions. JI to hold rallies for Kashmir, Palestine
KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar Khan announced that protests, rallies, and demonstrations will be held across the city on August 5 to mark 'Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir' in solidarity with the people of Kashmir and Palestine. He was addressing a press conference at the party's headquarters, Idara Noor-e-Haq on Friday Monem Zafar condemned the Indian government's abrogation of Article 370 and equated the actions of India in Kashmir and Israel in Gaza, criticizing the global silence over the humanitarian crises in both regions. He particularly called out the Muslim world for failing to take a firm stand against the use of starvation as a weapon in Gaza, where he said over 60,000 civilians had been killed and many more were now dying of hunger. He urged Pakistan's military leadership, particularly Field Marshal Asim Munir, to spearhead efforts to unite the Muslim world against Israeli atrocities, saying Pakistan, as a nuclear power, has a greater responsibility. Turning to Karachi's deteriorating law and order, Monem Zafar cited alarming figures: 56 people killed in street crimes, over 26,000 motorcycles snatched or stolen, and 354 lives lost in traffic accidents over the past six months. He criticized the Sindh government for failing to act, accusing it of focusing on revenue collection through vehicle number plates while ignoring its basic duties. He demanded the government issue number plates free of cost, noting that citizens had already paid for them. He said the administration had lost its writ in Karachi, pointing to poor services, broken infrastructure, and lack of clean water and electricity. He also questioned the Pakistan Peoples Party's claims about building 800,000 houses for flood victims, calling for transparency and urging clarity on the K4 water project's funding shortfall. Photo: AFP Listen to article President Donald Trump's Middle East envoy visited a US-backed aid operation in Gaza on Friday, which the United Nations has partly blamed for deadly conditions in the enclave, saying he sought to get food and other aid to people there. Steve Witkoff visited a site run by the US and Israel-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) in Rafah. Humanitarian organisations and many foreign governments have been strongly critical of the GHF, which began operations in late May. Hours after Witkoff's visit, Palestinian medics reported Israeli forces shot dead three Palestinians near one of the group's sites in the city on Gaza's southern edge. The Israeli military said it was still looking into the incident in which soldiers fired shots at as a "gathering of suspects" approaching its troops. The United Nations says more than 1,000 people have been killed trying to receive aid in Gaza since the GHF began operating, most of them shot by Israeli forces operating near GHF sites. The UN has declined to work with the GHF, which it says distributes aid in ways that are inherently dangerous. Crafting plan US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, who travelled with Witkoff to Gaza on Friday, posted on X a picture showing hungry Gazans behind razor wire with a GHF poster displaying a big American flag and the words "100,000,000 meals delivered". "President Trump understands the stakes in Gaza and that feeding civilians, not Hamas, must be the priority," GHF spokesperson Chapin Fay said.
