MS says culture isn't a luxury in Wales its 'who we are'

Last week in the Senedd, I spoke about the incredible contribution of North Wales to our cultural landscape – whether that's the Llangollen International Eisteddfod or the North Wales International Music Festival in St Asaph or our historic heritage at Flint Castle and Greenfield Valley.
There's also the jewel in our cultural crown, Theatr Clwyd, which is nearing the end of an inspirational transformation.
Culture in Wales isn't a luxury, it's who we are.
It empowers, connects and drives our economy and it deserves to be supported not only by Welsh Government and other public bodies but also by our communities, the communities who inspire and attend performances and enjoy the wonderful cultural riches on offer in our corner of Wales.
You can see many of my contributions in Senedd on my Facebook page at www.facebook.com/HannahBlythyn.
It was also lovely recently to welcome students and teachers from Point of Ayr Federation Schools to the Senedd for a visit.
They certainly asked some fantastic questions and took the opportunity to raise a number of things they were concerned about with me – from the impact of acts of anti-social behaviour on their school and in their local area to what was happening with plans for a new skate park.
I look forward to taking these matters up as their Member of the Senedd and updating the students through their schools.
Last week was Armed Forces Week, culminating in Armed Forces Day on Saturday – a chance to pay tribute to the dedication, courage and sacrifice of those who have served and those who continue to serve in our Armed Forces.
I want to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to all those in our Armed Forces community, including veterans and reservists here in North Wales, for their continued service and commitment.
We will always remember, support and stand with you.
As this year's Pride month comes to a close, it's a chance to reflect on what has been a packed but powerful few weeks.
From the first ever Prestatyn Pride to the excellent Flintshire Schools Pride, Pride Cymru in the capital and Commonwealth events in the Senedd, Pride remains as relevant and as important as ever – a positive force for good that brings together both the LGBTQ+ community and the wider community.
It's a privilege to serve the community that shaped me here in North Wales and I'm proud to be an authentic advocate and ally for our LGBTQ+ community too.
Pride is still a protest and love will always win!
Regular readers of this column will know that the Welsh Government will be banning plastic in wet wipes next year – the legislation is set to come into force in December 2026 and is part of a wider, integrated approach to address the problems created by excess plastic and litter, banning all sorts of single-use and unnecessary plastics in products we all use regularly, something which I kick-started when I was Minister for Environment back in 2016.
So it was heartening this week to hear that Nice-Pak in Flint, one of our biggest local employers and one which does a lot of work locally for our communities, is ready for the transition ahead of the legislation by ensuring that 96% of the wipes it manufactures for the UK market are already plastic-free.
This is great news for the company and for the environment – well done to the team at Nice-Pak!
Finally, a reminder that Mold Carnival is back this Sunday, July 6 – a brilliant local event that brings the whole community together at the Rec and Kendricks Field (Maes Bodlonfa Fields).
The day kicks off with a colourful parade at 10:30am from Griffiths Square car park and runs until 6pm with everything from hands-on science fun and special character appearances to live music, dance acts and family entertainment throughout the day.
Plus, there'll be free football activities thanks to the FAW and McDonald's as well as Transformer robots! If you're free, do pop down and support this fantastic local day out.
It's a great celebration of everything that makes Mold such a special place to live.

Oasis' Cardiff Principality Stadium seating plan and map for reunion tour 2025

Oasis are set to kick off their reunion tour in the Welsh capital with two huge shows at the Cardiff Principality Stadium this weekend as the seating plan has been revealed After what seems like an eternity of anticipation, we're now just one day away from Oasis launching their highly-anticipated reunion gigs. The 2025 concerts will see Liam and Noel Gallagher sharing the stage for the first time in 16 years, putting an end to endless speculation about whether they'd ever bury the hatchet. The clamour for tickets was immense, with them selling out in mere minutes as fans rushed to secure a spot to witness the Gallagher brothers' comeback – including their five-night stint at Heaton Park from 11th to 20th July. ‌ However, it's Cardiff that gets the honour of hosting the inaugural shows, with two performances scheduled in the Welsh capital on July 4 and 5. With no clue as to what to expect, it's bound to be a night charged with emotion for many fans. ‌ The legendary 90s pair have sold over 75million records globally, with their debut album Definitely Maybe, released in 1994, becoming an immediate classic. The Manchester brothers last dropped an Oasis album in 2008 but have since pursued solo and side projects separately. Richard Ashcroft, ex-frontman of The Verve, and indie band Cast are set to warm up the crowd at the Oasis gigs across the UK and Ireland, performing in stadiums and outdoor venues in Cardiff, Manchester, London, Dublin and Edinburgh this summer. Given the high demand for tickets, it's not just locals who'll be soaking up the atmosphere at the gig - many fans have decided to make the journey to Cardiff Principality Stadium specifically for the show. Get Oasis updates straight to your WhatsApp! As the hotly anticipated Oasis reunion tour grows closer, the Mirror has launched its very own Oasis WhatsApp community where you'll get all the latest news on the Gallagher brothers and all the information you'll need in the run up to the gigs. We'll send you the latest breaking updates and exclusives all directly to your phone. Users must download or already have WhatsApp on their phones to join in. With this in mind, we've compiled a seating plan and map for the Cardiff gigs so you can pinpoint your exact location and identify the entrance you'll need to use. ‌ For concerts and gigs, Cardiff Principality Stadium can accommodate up to 74,500 spectators - meaning there will be nearly 150,000 fans present over the two shows. Below is the seating plan for Cardiff Principality Stadium. Please bear in mind that this is for illustrative purposes only and may be subject to change. ‌ At 8.15pm this Friday, Oasis will make their long awaited comeback and will play for just over two hours before they will end the set for a 22.30pm curfew. Speaking about the shows, a source told us: "With a new lineup and it being such a huge first show, the boys will do some songs inside the venue too. Some tours would start with a smaller show or take a week or two to get into the groove again. "But there is no time for that, and also Liam and Noel want every night to be massive. This is such a huge comeback show, and they are taking it very seriously. It all points to it being an incredible comeback tour." Oasis have already arrived in Cardiff to put together the finishing touches and fans close by say they have heard the setlist in full. Earlier in the week, those close to the stadium heard Cigarettes and Alcohol blasting out of the stadium. They were also treated to hits Some Might Say and F****n' In The Bushes. According to one fan on Reddit, Oasis are set to play a lengthy 24 song setlist.

Oasis fan fumes they can't watch band in Cardiff over broken station issue

One Oasis fan took to social media to fume over a lift issue at Cardiff Central as he heads to the Welsh capital to watch Noel and Liam Gallagher in their first reunion gigs One Oasis fan has been left fuming after a broken lift situation in Cardiff has caused chaos for disabled travellers. The band are back together for the first time in years, as Noel and Liam Gallagher put aside their differences after a 16 year-long feud. The band are performing in Cardiff tomorrow evening for their first live show for years, with fans desperate to get there early to secure the best spot and soak up the atmosphere. ‌ However, things haven't gone to plan for a number of fans using wheelchairs. One fan expressed their anger on social media: "Imagine not being able to go to watch @oasis at the @principalitysta in #Cardiff as @tfwrail have a lift out of order so wheelchair users cannot get off/on at the train at the capital city of #Wales - absolute shambles, what you think @liamgallagher @NoelGallagher." ‌ They then told Transport for Wales that they had "spoke to the passenger assistance who stated that the lifts at both Cwmbran and Cardiff Central are out of order so we couldn't use an electric wheelchair as couldn't get to/off the platforms". Transport for Wales then started that Cwmbran platform 1 (to Cardiff) was accessible via a ramped path from Edlogan Way and that at Cardiff Central the East End lift is "still available for passengers to use for platform 1 & 2". The fan then replied to explain he knew about the issues with Cwmbran but said he had been told "by passenger assistance that the lifts at Cardiff were unavailable". Oasis' Cardiff gigs has also caused chaos for wider transport across the city, with a number of road closures. As Cardiff city centre braces for the influx of music fans, significant road closures will be implemented around the capital. For the Oasis concerts, city centre roads will be shut from midday and are expected to reopen at the stroke of midnight. A Cardiff Council spokesperson said: "The M4 motorway is expected to be very busy for these concerts - so please plan ahead - and avoid the congestion in Cardiff by using the park and ride at the car park by the Vindico Arena on International Drive in the Sports Village. ‌ "For up-to-date traffic information on the motorway and trunk roads, go to the Traffic Wales website, or @TrafficWalesS on Twitter and Facebook." Concertgoers are being urged to arrive in Cardiff early. From 7am, Scott Road and Park Street will be shut due to preparations at gate five and to ensure the safety of queuing fans. A full city centre road closure will be in effect on July 4 and 5, commencing at 12noon and lasting until midnight. Access to certain areas of the civic centre will be regulated throughout the day, with entry permitted only for event parking, limited commuter parking, loading and access to private car parks. Roads impacted include King Edward VII Avenue, Museum Avenue, City Hall Road, College Road and Gorsedd Gardens Road.
