New Delhi:
Dipika Kakar was diagnosed with Stage 2 liver cancer in May, days after she complained of a stomach ache. The surgery was delayed after the actor developed a high fever. She then underwent a 14-hour-long surgery in the first week of June.
Now, after a month, husband, actor Shoiab Ibrahim has shared an update on her health, and how there are chances of the disease to 'reoccur' in such cases.
What's Happening
Shoaib Ibrahim took to his blog to share an update on Dipika Kakar's health after her successful but critical surgery, as she was diagnosed with Stage 2 liver cancer.
Shoiab Ibrahim shared, "Earlier, we thought that maybe if the tumour was removed, then everything would be fine. As far as the body is concerned, there are currently no cancer cells present. However, the biopsy report that we received and the PET scan we reviewed indicated a more serious situation. The tumour was classified as grade three and poorly differentiated, which means it was quite aggressive. Uske chances kaafi hote hain re-occur karne ki (The chances of re-occurring are significant)."
Furthermore, he added, "After the surgery, the doctor prescribed medication. Although there are no cancer cells now, if any are detected in the future, the dosage will be increased, and she will receive medication intravenously. Her new journey will start next week. Yeh treatment ek saal, dedh saal ya do saal bhi jaa sakta hai (The treatment can go from one year to two years). Scans will be conducted every three weeks."
Dipika Kakar's Instagram Post After Surgery
11 days after the surgery, Dipika Kakar was discharged from the hospital. She had shared an Instagram post, which read, "11 Days of being here and now home. Free from the tumour, but this is one part of the treatment done. Remaining will follow in the coming time, and mujhe yakeen hain I will sail through that too, as I said before. Yeh 11 din mushkil the but because of the amazing people we had around, things went smoothly. There was suffering, but it was all handled with a lot of warmth by everyone at the Kokilaben Hospital."
Thanking the doctors, Dipika added, "To start with, Dr Somnath Chatopadhyay and his team, Dr Kanchan, Dr Neha, Dr Sanket, Dr Manek and Dr Kavita... not only are they exceptional doctors but even great human beings. Acchi treatment... jab itne pyaar aur empathy ke saath ki jaaye toh patient ki recovery fast bhi ho jaati hain and bahut himmat milti hai..."
"Also all the sisters, staff who took care of me, Dr Sharmeela (anaesthetist), Dr Bushra (ICU Dr), Sister Akshara, Nupur, Pragati and Shasheeka( ICU sisters), Sister Anupama, Ashna and Sister Jijin (ward sisters), and all the female helping staff, I will be grateful to you all for life. It's because of your love and care that I am able to recover and get back home..." she continued.
Dipika concluded the note, "And my biggest strength has been the love, prayers and blessings that you all have showered on me. Dil se thank you... bahut himmat mili aap sabka pyaar dekh ke. Aage bhi yahi pray kijiyega ki my treatment further goes smoothly and I get the strength to go through that as well. Lots of love to all..."
In A Nutshell
Shoaib Ibrahim shared a new health update about Dipika Kakar on his blog. He told their fans that since it was an 'aggressive' surgery, there is a chance that it will reoccur again.

Did you know that the length of your torso and the thigh bones dictate how good your squats are?

There are a number of things that go through the mind while exercising—is the weight selection right, is the form correct, is the correct muscle group getting worked? What doesn't cross the mind, is how the body proportions affect the way you perform an exercise. And if there is a way to tweak something as simple as a squat to allow your body to do it most effectively and safely, then it makes sense to know which variation is the best one for your body proportions. There are a number of things that can affect a squat. 'Greater heel elevation, greater ankle dorsiflexion mobility, shorter relative femur length and longer relative torso length, wider stance width, more abduction (knees out), a higher bar position on the back, greater relative quadriceps strength, and increased intent to target the knee extensors," is the list written by Bret Contreras, who runs the fitness site The Glute Guy. Contreras has a PhD in Sports Science. Torso and femur lengths There seem to be a few parameters to consider when it comes to defining body proportions in relation to squats. The first of these is the easiest to understand. A body might fall into the category of long torso and short femurs, or short torso and long femurs. The femur is the thigh bone. The mechanics of this are pretty simple. A longer femur will push the hips back farther away compared to someone with a long torso and short femurs. A post shared by Pat Li (@patli_) As shown in the Instagram video above, a long torso and short femurs make it easier to perform a deep and upright squat. But in case you belong to the short torso long femur group, then you are farther away from the body's centre of gravity when squatting. The fix is simple—use a heel elevation to change the mechanics, and perform a deeper squat without having to tip forward to find your centre of gravity. Also Read Why you need a gym partner to do these core exercises for better abs 'From a joint motion standpoint, the primary limitation to deep squatting is the amount of available hip flexion. When the end range of hip flexion is reached during squatting, a posterior pelvic tilt will occur. The posterior rotation of the pelvis is the result of the femur compressing into the acetabulum," states a study titled A Biomechanical Review of the Squat Exercise: Implications for Clinical Practice. Tibia length Another thing to consider is the length of one's tibia.'Shortened tibia length with long femur length would create greater hip displacement and cause forward lean deeper into the squat. Conversely, a lifter with longer tibia lengths relative to femur lengths would exhibit a more upright posture. This lifter would feel more of quadriceps working during the squat, while a lifter with shorter tibias, relative to femur length, would feel greater effort in lower back musculature," states an article titled, How Femur Length Affects Squat Mechanics. The holy grail of squatting techniques can be found in a video by The Squat University, which shows how the length of the femur and tibia affect squatting. It is worth watching so you know whether you are squatting the right way or not. Hip structure You can't change your hip structure, writes assistant professor at Trinity Western University's School of Human Kinetics Andrew Huming in his blog titled Squat Right For Your Body Type. He adds that you can try different techniques so that your body feels more squat-friendly. Also Read From wine with vinegar to Gatorade, the strange history of the evolution of sports drinks 'By spreading your knees, you move your thighs out of the way so your hips can move between them. From a mechanical perspective the knee spread makes the femur look and work as if it is shorter. While I'm not trying to shoot my knees forward, I'm focusing more on squatting 'down' instead of 'back'," he says. And he has faced these problems himself. Huming describes himself as someone who is 6'3" of which '90 percent is leg." And if you really want to get into the nitty gritty of it all, then the final piece of this squat jigsaw is hip socket depth. This one's a little advanced, and there's no hack to get around it. JC Fitness's blog has an excellent article which collates findings from various research papers. 'The angle at which the hip sockets are positioned will influence squat range of movement. It is likely that a lifter with more outward facing hip sockets will benefit from a wider stance or a more externally rotated hip position for squatting, whereas a lifter with more downward facing hip sockets will benefit from a comparatively narrower stance," states their article titled, How Your Anatomy Influences Squat Mechanics. But in case you continue wondering why even squat hacks can't seem to work for your form, then maybe just don't use back squats as an exercise. There are dozens of options to do which are easier and not as body structure oriented as the back squat. Pulasta Dhar is a football commentator, writer and podcaster. Viral video: 80-year-old Indian woman skydives with son, sets record at Haryana drop zone

Dr Shraddha Chauhan, 80, has etched her name in history as the oldest Indian woman to complete a tandem skydive. Mother of retired Brigadier Saurabh Singh Shekhawat, Chauhan marked her 80th birthday by jumping from 10,000 feet despite battling vertigo, cervical spondylitis, and spinal disc issues. The daring feat took place at Skyhigh India, located at the Narnaul Airstrip in Haryana, India's only certified civilian drop zone, situated just two hours from Delhi. A heartwarming video captures Chauhan gearing up for her big leap, accompanied and encouraged by her son, one of India's most decorated army officers. 'She is my mother. Turning 80 years, and today, I have the good fortune and honour of jumping with her,' Brigadier Shekhawat says in the video. He then kisses her on the cheek and says, 'Happy birthday'. The video was shared on Instagram by @skyhighindia, saying, 'She turned 80 — and celebrated it by jumping out of a plane. With her son by her side. Not just any son — but Brigadier Saurabh Singh Shekhawat, KC, SC, SM, VSM (Retd): decorated soldier, mountaineer, horseman, skydiver, and Chief Instructor at Skyhigh India. Dr. Shraddha Chauhan marked her 80th birthday with a tandem skydive from 10,000 feet — despite vertigo, cervical spondylitis, and prolapsed spinal discs. She is now the oldest Indian woman to do a tandem skydive — and the oldest to do so within India. A mother. A milestone. A moment that soared. Courage knows no age. Love has no altitude.' The video has since gone viral, garnering over 229K views and 19.2K likes. A post shared by Skyhigh (@skyhighindia)

What causes a heart attack? Madhuri Dixit's husband Dr Shriram Nene explains what happens when there are no symptoms

Madhuri Dixit's husband, Dr Shriram Nene, is a cardiothoracic surgeon who keeps sharing important information related to health on his Instagram profile. From heart health to diabetes, Dr Nene's Instagram insights cover the most essential aspects of the current health concerns. Also read | Cardiac surgeon reveals why silent heart attacks are a risk for even young and fit Indians: Causes to prevention tips Dr Shriram Nene spoke about the main causes of heart attacks.(Pexels) Recently, Dr Nene appeared as a guest on Ranveer Allahbadia's podcast, The Ranveer Show, where he spoke about the main causes of heart attacks. 'Dr Shriram Nene explains the 3 major artery blockages that lead to a heart attack. Understanding the causes behind heart attacks is crucial for prevention,' Ranveer wrote, sharing a short glimpse of the podcast on his Instagram page on July 1. What happens when a person has a heart attack? Answering this, Dr Nene said, 'What happens is that there may be a blockage in one of the 3 main arteries or in the left main artery, which doesn't allow blood to flow to the part of the muscle and all the tissues involved. When that happens, that muscle or that area, basically, will stop working. That's when you have the chest pain radiating to your arm, the shortness of breath, the sweaty nose, the palpitations.' Dr Nene mentioned that, surprisingly, in 20 percent of heart attack patients, there are no symptoms at all. 'And in the case where people have no symptoms at all, they collapse. They can have a cardiac arrest, or they can faint, or they can just not feel good. So, you have no blood flow to the brain, right? So, you have a syncopal episode potentially, or your heart is not pumping at all with a very fast heart rhythm. And none of that blood is going to the rest of the body,' Dr Nene explained What are silent heart attacks? In an earlier interview with HT Lifestyle, Dr Niranjan Hiremath, senior consultant and cardiovascular and aortic surgeon at Apollo Indraprastha, New Delhi, said, 'Unlike the dramatic chest-clutching scenes we generally associate with heart attacks, a silent heart attack can occur with little or no noticeable indications. Medically known as a 'silent myocardial infarction' — it damages the heart muscle just like a regular heart attack, but goes overlooked, often until much later.'
