NOVVI Properties' Brian Flanagan champions education for orphans through IronMan 70.3 Challenge
In a powerful show of endurance and empathy, Brian Flanagan, Leasing Director at NOVVI Properties, is set to compete in the IronMan 70.3 in Durban, South Africa, turning a grueling athletic pursuit into a mission of hope. His goal: to raise awareness and vital funds for Future for Orphans, a non-profit dedicated to providing education for orphaned children in Afghanistan.
The IronMan 70.3, comprising a 2km swim, 90km cycle, and 21.1km run is no small feat. It marks the culmination of over seven months of dedicated training for Flanagan, who sees the event not only as a test of personal limits but as a chance to make a meaningful difference.
'This Sunday in Durban, I'll be taking on the IronMan 70.3 – a 2km swim, 90km cycle, and a 21.1km run. It's about six hours of intense effort and the culmination of seven months of training,' says Flanagan. 'Being able to turn this into a platform to help children in need has been incredibly important to me.'
The initiative supports Future for Orphans, which currently educates over 130 orphaned children in Afghanistan, offering them a chance at a brighter future through learning.
'I grew up in Ireland where education is free and widely accessible,' Flanagan adds. 'The opportunity to support children who've been robbed of that basic right is powerful for me – it's a deep motivation.'
'Hopefully, some of the things we do inspire others, whether it's finding out what they are capable of physically or taking the time to help those in need. If we can lead by example, and others understand what NOVVI is about, then we have done something truly meaningful,' he concluded.
Through this act of endurance, Flanagan hopes to inspire others to discover their own strength, whether by pushing physical boundaries or stepping up for a cause.

The Eritrea Road Cycling Championship 2025 commenced today, 27 June, in the Mai-Diminet area with an individual time trial. The time trial race covered 36 km, with participation from both Elite and U-23 categories. Professional Cyclist Amanuel Gebrezgiabhier, member of the 'Lidl-Trek' Club, won the race, finishing in 43 minutes, 14 seconds, and 2 microseconds, becoming the fastest Eritrean rider for the second time. Henok Mulubrhan, member of the Astana Club, secured second place, while Mewael Girmay, member of the Belgian Intermarché Cycling Club, finished in third. In the U-23 category, Mewael Girmay won the race, followed by Hebron Berhane from Sembel Club and Yafet Mulugeta, member of UCI, who finished in second and third place, respectively. In the female Elite and U-23 categories, which covered 18 km, Monaliza Araya won the race, followed by Berikti Fesehaye and Suzana Fesehaye, who finished second and third, respectively. In the U-23 category, Monaliza Araya also claimed first place, with Suzana Fesehaye and Rahel Zerisenay securing second and third place, respectively. In the men's junior category, Yohannes Aklilu, Natan Tesfa'alem, and Nahom Efrem took first, second, and third place, respectively. With 500 days to go until the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, the Youth Charter ( has launched a Global Call 2 Action to establish a bold new legacy vision for Africa and the world through sport, education, and community empowerment. This milestone moment comes as the Olympic Movement celebrates the historic appointment of Kirsty Coventry, the first female and African President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The Youth Charter is calling on the IOC, African Union (AU), and global stakeholders to ensure the Dakar Games leave a lasting impact beyond the sporting arena by investing in young people and their communities. 'Dakar 2026 must be more than a celebration, it must be a catalyst for lasting change,' said Youth Charter Founder and Chair, Geoff Thompson. 'We are calling on global institutions, governments, and civil society to back a pan-African legacy of safe spaces, opportunity, and hope for our youth.' Community Campus Legacy Proposal At the heart of the Youth Charter's proposal is the Community Campus model—a place-based, people-led ecosystem of support that integrates education, sport, culture, enterprise and health. Eritrea: Dekemhare Technical School Graduates 139 Students
Dekemhare Technical School today graduated 139 students, including 63 females, who completed two years of theoretical and practical training in auto mechanics, electricity, metal and woodwork, and construction. Mr. Wuhab Mohammed-Ali, Director of the school, congratulated the students and urged them to further enhance their skills through practical experience in the workplace. Mr. Tesfay Seium, Director General of Technical and Vocational Education at the Ministry of Education, emphasized the Government of Eritrea's significant investment in education and called on the youth to take full advantage of these opportunities to improve their livelihoods and contribute to national development. Mr. Yemane Abera, Administrator of Dekemhare Sub-zone, also congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to serve the country and people who provided them with educational opportunities. Established in 1999, Dekemhare Technical School has so far graduated 3,433 students in diploma programs and 3,846 in certificate programs. In a related development, the Indomaso Award was presented to 17 outstanding students in the Adi-Keih Sub-zone who scored 80 and above in the eighth-grade national examination. The awards were given during a graduation ceremony for 328 youths who completed vocational training programs ranging from one to four months.
