Inside Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's Venetian vows
Welcome back! It's a hot one, so I'm sure you're cooling down with water. Turns out, picking the right bottled water isn't all that easy. One reporter tested out seven kinds and crowned his favorite. On the agenda: Seven successful men shared with BI how they optimize their mornings. Luxury gyms are becoming the new third space for many young people. Partiful, Luma, Paperless Post: How online invitations became a splintered mess. Newly built homes are changing, but homebuyers really want these four features. But first: Wedding bells. This week's dispatch Inside a billionaire's Venetian vows We're all just nosy, huh? It's why the world has been watching as Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and former newscaster turned philanthropist Lauren Sánchez got married in a not-so-private event spanning three days in Venice. "This magical place has gifted us unforgettable memories," Bezos and Sánchez, who met in 2019 and got engaged in 2023, said on their wedding invitation about the floating city. Some 200 guests were expected to attend the festivities in one of the most romantic cities in the world, the city said in a statement. And A-listers were spotted as they touched down, including Tom Brady, Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, and Ivanka Trump with Jared Kushner. There's no telling how much the billionaire's wedding celebration will cost, but reported estimates range from $11.5 million to $35 million. Luxury wedding planner and founder of Italian Knot, Roberta Camille Lione, told BI that although the latter figure feels a bit high, it's "not impossible — especially if the couple is sparing no expense across accommodations, logistics, entertainment, and design." Still, not everyone is thrilled that Bezos and Sánchez have picked Venice for their wedding. Local protesters have erected signs across the city, including one that reads, "No space for Bezos." (Get it? Because he founded Blue Origin.) They've also said they plan to disrupt the nuptials. However, Jessica Testoni, who runs a small souvenir stall in Venice, told our senior reporter on the ground, Joshua Nelken-Zitser, that she hopes it's not the last celebrity wedding to happen in her town. "On this occasion, I'm happy Bezos and Sánchez are getting married here," she said. "It helps businesses like mine." It's an interesting perspective given this behemoth of a wedding is happening during so much economic anxiety. That said, whether you're watching on purpose or by sheer force, despite the secretive nature of the nuptials, here's one thing we know for sure: this type of extravagance may only come once in a lifetime. Morning routines FTW Seven successful men — from across industries including venture capital, equity research, and advertising — shared their morning rituals with BI, from running long distances to making latte art. Most said they're early risers, waking up between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. Many said they started their days with exercise, though some shared creative habits like journaling. Tea or coffee is essential. The all-inclusive third space For many people, luxury gyms have become more than just a gym. Popular franchises like Equinox or Life Time offer amenities that go beyond fitness, like complimentary childcare services, tidy workspaces, and sometimes, poolside bars. Even if it takes extra saving or tight budgeting to afford a $200+ a month membership, these luxury gym goers say it's worth it. More than a gym. Hot home trends for 2025 American homes look a lot different these days. Many newly built homes are not just pricier, but they're smaller, too. That doesn't mean buyers are sacrificing comfort and quality, though. Lauren Sánchez Touches Down in Venice for Star-studded Wedding With Jeff Bezos Wearing Vintage Alexander McQueen
Lauren Sánchez and her fiancé, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, have arrived in Venice, Italy, on Wednesday, ahead of their three-day wedding event. For their first appearance in the city, Sánchez wore a vintage Alexander McQueen dress from the brand's spring 2003 collection. Sánchez donned a black one-shoulder evening gown by McQueen with a fitted, floor-length silhouette. The dress featured diagonal white beaded stripes that create a dynamic pattern across the entire garment. Originally, the dress had a mermaid-style cut that hugged the body and flared out at the bottom into a train. The former TV news anchor has a penchant for McQueen. She notably wore a white McQueen bustier top to Donald Trump's second presidential inauguration on Jan. 20, paired with a suit. Bezos' fiancée has been working with celebrity stylist Molly Dickson for the past year. Dickson dressed her in a white Oscar de la Renta gown for the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscars party in March. Sánchez and Bezos are celebrating their wedding with a lavish, multiday event in Venice, Italy, drawing global attention and a star-studded guest list. Leonardo DiCaprio, Kim Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey, Eva Longoria, Katy Perry and Ivanka Trump are among the expected attendees of the event. Bezos' and Sanchez's wedding in Venice continues the city's custom of hosting extravagant ceremonies and is planned to wrap up on Saturday, culminating in a final evening celebration at the Arsenale. Bezos' and Sánchez's relationship began in 2016 when they met through Sánchez's then-husband, Patrick Whitesell, but their romance became public in January 2019 after both announced separations from their spouses. Over the years, they have maintained a close and affectionate partnership, often seen together and sharing a strong bond marked by mutual support and shared interests, including aviation and philanthropy. They got engaged in May 2023 after nearly five years together. Peter Thomas Roth Teams With Prime Video to Launch ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty' Eye Patches
Peter Thomas Roth has partnered with Prime Video to launch a limited-edition version of its 24K Gold and Cucumber De-Tox Hydra-Gel Eye Patches inspired by the fan-favorite drama series, 'The Summer I Turned Pretty.' This collaboration comes just a few weeks before the third and final season of the show, which sees a teenage girl named Belly grapple with the consequences of being in love with two brothers (Jeremiah and Conrad), premieres on the streaming service. More from WWD Kris Jenner Leads '60s Glam Trend With Twisted Hairdo at Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos' Wedding Kristin Cavallari Teases Uncommon Beauty Expansion and Talks Glowing Skin Goals Winning in Gen Alpha's 'VirtuReal' World and Making Beauty More Science-driven: Key FIT Capstone Takeaways Peter Thomas Roth, the eponymous brand owner, explained how this crossover came to life. 'This project has been in development for almost a year. The author and showrunner of 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' picked a few of her favorite brands sold on Amazon, and my skin care line happened to be one of them,' he said. As part of the partnership, customers will be able to purchase the cult-favorite hydrating under-eye agents in travel-sized containers with a packaging design inspired by the romance-steeped series set on the fictional Cousins Beach in Massachusetts. 'They're the perfect addition to your beach bag or tote,' Roth continued. 'We worked very closely with the Amazon teams to incorporate the show's amazing intellectual property into our own branding. The goal was to match the energy of the show and create summer-ready versions of my Hydra-Gel Eye Patches, travel-sized for all your adventures.' While it hasn't played out on screen, Roth's vision of the show's characters using this specific product before a party or a date night, and the morning after, is at the crux of this collaboration. Online, Roth's ardent customers have raved about the brand's eye patches, wearing them beyond the confines of their bedroom. Videos show fans wearing the cooling pads in the airport, the nail salon and on the sidewalk. 'They're also fabulous for soothing and cooling the delicate eye area,' Roth explained. Roth debuted his skin care line in 1993, trailblazing the clinical side of the beauty industry. The idea sprang from his own experience with clogged pores and acne, which left Roth struggling to soothe his skin for years. For a while, Roth's products were only sold in high-end spas and salons, but by 1998, the business had reached just under $15 million in retail value from the distribution of products under major outlets such as Bloomingdale's, Sephora and Nordstrom. A decade after his product line debut and just four years after it was ushered into department stores, Roth ventured into the fragrance sector of beauty with the release of a scent called 'It.' At the time, Roth told WWD: 'I always wanted to do a fragrance and have been dabbling in it for about 20 years.' In addition to the Peter Thomas Roth eye patches, 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' author Jenny Han tapped drugstore beauty brand Kiss to debut specialized press-on nails and lash clusters in celebration of the season premiere. 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' will return to Prime Video with new episodes on July 16.
