Traction distribution dept achieves ISO 9001:2015 certification
The comprehensive certification spans 22 strategic locations within the division, encompassing all TRD depots, TRD offices, and the TRD store. It recognises the department's unwavering commitment to the quality maintenance of Overhead Equipment (OHE) and vital power supply installations, both of which are critical for the safe and efficient operation of electric locomotives.
The certification was granted by QRO Certifications, a renowned certification body, through Harsha Technologies of Hyderabad. This followed a series of stringent and thorough audits that meticulously assessed the quality and consistency of the TRD Department's service delivery.
'This milestone makes Vijayawada Division the first division in Indian Railways to secure ISO 9001:2015 certification for its entire TRD Department,' stated the announcement.
Speaking on this momentous occasion, DRM Narendra A Patil extended his heartfelt congratulations to Ch Dinesh Reddy, senior divisional electrical engineer and the entire traction distribution department team.
He lauded their exemplary dedication and sustained efforts in elevating service standards. 'This certification is not just a recognition — it's a responsibility to maintain the highest quality and safety standards for uninterrupted passenger services across the Division,' added the DRM.

Indian Railways authorities are evaluating various alternatives due to the decreased operational costs. Soon you may get higher refund from Indian Railways for your cancelled train ticket! The Indian Railways is considering either lowering or doing away with the administrative fees, known as 'clerkage', which it currently deducts whilst processing refunds for unconfirmed waitlisted tickets or cancellations. Indian Railways authorities are evaluating various alternatives due to the decreased operational costs associated with train ticketing, as more travellers now prefer online bookings over counter purchases in the recent years. For waitlisted or reservation against cancellation train tickets that are cancelled, railway passengers do not receive a refund of either the clerkage or convenience fee. Indian Railways' Train Ticket 'Clerkage' Charges For confirmed bookings in air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned coaches, the railways presently deducts Rs 60 as clerkage, whilst Rs 30 is charged for unreserved second-class tickets. This administrative charge applies to all waitlisted ticket cancellations, including those processed through the IRCTC portal. According to railway officials quoted in a TOI report, preliminary talks have begun regarding this matter. The potential policy change would benefit passengers holding waitlisted tickets, who currently face two challenges: their tickets remaining unconfirmed and the subsequent deduction of clerical charges during fare reimbursement. IRCTC, which manages ticketing and catering services for Indian Railways, charges a convenience fee of Rs 30 for AC and Rs 15 for non-AC tickets. An official clarified that the entire clerkage revenue is allocated to Indian Railways as it covers functional expenditure for the system, applicable regardless of ticket confirmation status. The railway ministry's statement to Lok Sabha last year confirmed that revenue from all sources, including cancellations, contributes to Indian Railways' total receipts, which fund working expenses for maintenance, operations and capital expenditure. Chheoki rly station to be developed as terminal before Kumbh 2031
1 2 Prayagraj: In anticipation of the massive turnout expected for the 2031 Kumbh Mela, Indian Railways is fast-tracking the development of Chheoki Railway Station into a major terminal. A comprehensive proposal has already been submitted to the Railway Board for approval. According to Himanshu Shukla, senior divisional commercial manager of Prayagraj Division of North Central Railway (NCR), "A detailed proposal has been submitted for Chheoki's development into a terminal, with a clear goal to complete the project before the 2031 Kumbh." The 2025 Maha Kumbh witnessed an overwhelming rush at Chheoki, offering critical lessons in crowd and traffic management. In response, the Railways has finalised a blueprint to transform Chheoki into a full-fledged terminal for Prayagraj. As part of the upgrade, the station will have 10 platforms, all equipped with modern electronic display boards. The station complex will include a large waiting area, expanded foot overbridges (FOBs), new passenger sheds, retiring rooms and a well-equipped food plaza to improve the passenger experience.
