
Indian Film Festival of Melbourne Awards 2025: Superboys of Malegaon, Pataal Lok S2 lead the nominations; see full list
Supported by the Victorian Government, the festival will run from August 14 to 24, with the IFFM Awards Night set for August 15, honouring cinematic excellence across film and OTT categories. Winners will be selected by an esteemed jury comprising some of the most respected names in Australian cinema and cultural landscape, including Garth Davis, director of Dev Patel- Nicole Kidman's Lion, and Theatre Director and Film Producer - Nadia Tass.
With projects considered from June 15, 2024 to June 14, 2025, and OTT nominations restricted to platforms available in Australia, this year's lineup spans mainstream superhits, indie revelations, regional gems, and binge-worthy series.
Among the most-nominated films and shows are Superboys of Malegaon, Maharaj, L2: Empuraan. On the streaming front, Paatal Lok 2, Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper, and Manorathangal dominate the series categories.

Reportedly, about 25 IPS officers visited Aamir Khan at his house in Bandra. When News18 tried to reach out to Khan's team, they said they aren't sure about the reason behind the sudden visit and added, 'We are still figuring out with Aamir." Aamir will soon be attending the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2025, scheduled from August 14-24, as a Chief Guest. His attendance at the 16th edition of the Festival will include a unique retrospective honouring his exceptional achievements in Indian cinema, culminating in a spotlight presentation on his most recent film, Sitaare Zameen Par. Speaking about being a part of the IFFM 2025 as the Chief Guest, Aamir said in a statement, 'I'm humbled and excited to be a part of the Melbourne Indian Film Festival. It's a festival that truly honours the spirit of Indian cinema in all of its diversity and riches. I'm excited to interact with audiences, share some of my most valued work, and participate in discussions that honour the power of film. With Sitaare Zameen Par, we attempted to tell a story that embraces inclusivity and neurodivergence with sensitivity and heart, and I'm grateful that the film has touched so many people. I am eager to share my journey with Melbourne and shed light on the stories that matter." On the work front, Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par minted around Rs 165 crore Net in India after a month of its release. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film also featured Genelia D'Souza in the lead. Up next, he will be seen in director Rajkumar Hirani's biopic film based on the life of the father of Indian cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke. Actor Viineet Kumar Siingh, Vicky Kaushal's co-star, is now a father. The Chhaava actor embraced parenthood as he welcomed a baby boy with wife Ruchiraa Singh on 24 July. On Sunday, he took to his Instagram account and announced the good news. He dropped the news of his son's arrival with a blue-and-white coloured graphic which read, 'It's a Boy! Our Little Star is Here.' He further added in the caption, "God's kindness overflows! Move over, world — the littlest Singh has arrived and he's already stealing hearts and milk bottles. Thank you, God, for this precious little bundle of joy!' Soon after their post went live, fans and friends rushed to the comment section and congratulated the couple.
