Rite Aid's Thrifty ice cream brand gets sold to a business entity linked to Monster Energy executives

Rite Aid has selected a successful bidder for its Thrifty Payless subsidiary, which includes the beloved Thrifty ice cream brand, according to a bankruptcy court filing on Thursday. He was buried in a mushroom casket. Soon he'll be part of the soil CEO of an $11 billion builder empire warns that these housing markets face a short-term oversupply Lifting the veil on the critical—and oft-times overlooked—factors driving AI growth The buyer was identified as Hilrod Holdings, a limited partnership linked to Hilton Schlosberg and Rodney Sacks, top executives at the energy drink company Monster Beverage Corporation. Hilrod is seeking to pay $19.2 million for Thrifty's assets, the filing revealed. The partnership is mostly known for its real estate investments Thrifty ice cream is available at scoop counters located inside many Rite Aid locations in addition to being sold by third-party retailers. It was not immediately clear what Hilrod plans to do with Thrifty should the sale be approved by the court. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for June 30. Fast Company reached out to a lawyer for Hilrod Holdings, and representatives for Monster Beverage and Rite Aid for comment. We will update this story if we hear back. Schlosberg and Sacks had until recently been co-CEOs of Monster Beverage. A filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) revealed that Sacks planned to retire this month, while Schlosberg would continue to lead the company. The fate of Thrifty ice cream has been uncertain since Rite Aid announced in early May that it would see Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for a second time. The embattled pharmacy chain is winding down its operations, closing or selling its physical stores, and has sold off most of its prescription files to competitors, including CVS and Walgreens. The Thrifty brand stretches back decades in Los Angeles, where it was sold at soda fountain counters inside the Thrifty Drug Store chain. It became part of Rite Aid through Rite Aid's purchase of Thrifty Payless in 1996. This story is developing and could be updated. Is Tesla Stock a Millionaire Maker?

In the past 15 years, this top EV stock has climbed more than 20,000%. Tesla shares have always sold for a premium, which is detached from the reality of the current business. Investors considering buying the stock must believe the company will make good on its plans for autonomous driving and robotics. These 10 stocks could mint the next wave of millionaires › Looking back at its history as a public company, Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) has generated serious wealth for investors. The auto industry disruptor has seen its shares skyrocket 20,290% since its initial public offering in June 2010 (as of June 25). Had you invested just $5,000 back then, there would be a $1 million balance in your portfolio right now. No one would argue with that kind of impressive past gain. But will the leading EV stock be a millionaire maker in the future? Tesla might be the most closely watched business in the world, partly, because of how it disrupted the global car market. Investors also keep tabs on what CEO Elon Musk is doing, as well as his plans for the company (more on this below). However, investors shouldn't lose sight of what Tesla really is today, which is a challenged company that sells innovative and tech-enhanced EVs. In the first quarter, the business reported $14 billion of automotive revenue, 72% of the total. Total revenue was up just 0.9% in 2024, then it declined 9.2% in Q1 2025. Operating income in the first quarter tanked 66%, thanks to lower average selling prices, fewer deliveries, and higher expenses. To be fair, this is an extremely inventive company that's working at the cutting edge of exciting technologies. But someone viewing Tesla with a clear lens would see that this is a struggling business. Its core operations are under pressure, without a doubt. What valuation should Tesla trade at knowing the reality of the business today? Even with a more reasonable price-to-earnings ratio (P/E) of 50 (compared to its current P/E ratio of 179), which is what luxury automaker Ferrari trades for, the stock has 72% downside. That certainly doesn't give investors any reason to be bullish. Based on the current market cap of $1 trillion and P/E ratio of 179, Tesla is wildly overvalued. But the story stock has seemingly always traded at a steep valuation, as investors continue to bet on a future that sees the company realizing its potential as a dominant force in autonomous driving and robotics. The company has finally launched a robotaxi service in Austin, Texas. This was highly anticipated and something that Musk has talked about for years. However, I think it turned out to be a big nothing burger. There were no Cybercabs. Less than two dozen Model Ys were used instead. There were human supervisors in all the vehicles. And videos of the robotaxis in action showed numerous issues, spurring an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. At the same time, Alphabet's Waymo is handling 250,000 trips per week in multiple cities. And an application is in place to start testing the service in New York City. Tesla appears to still have a long way to go. The company is also leveraging its AI capabilities to work on Optimus, a humanoid robot. Musk believes it will produce 1 million units annually by the end of this decade. Besides placing these machines in its factories, the goal is to sell them to other companies. If all goes according to plan, which is a very uncertain outcome, then Tesla could make its investors into millionaires down the road. The end markets for robotaxis and humanoid robots are estimated to be measured in the trillions of dollars. The company's ability to not only have these technologies achieve mass adoption, but to also capture a sizable chunk of the opportunity, could create a financial windfall. However, I think there's also a good chance that the business won't deliver up to its heightened expectations, a perspective that's supported by a history of constant delays. This is a stock that I'm still avoiding. Ever feel like you missed the boat in buying the most successful stocks? Then you'll want to hear this. Where Will Nvidia Be in the Next 3 Years?

Nvidia's full-stack platform made it a primary beneficiary in the ongoing AI revolution. Blackwell chips are seeing demand far outpacing supply. Although the valuation is expensive, Nvidia can soar even higher from the current levels in the coming three years. 10 stocks we like better than Nvidia › Rewind to early 2023 -- few believed that Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) could climb any higher. It already felt expensive and fully priced. Then it surged nearly tenfold, reshaping itself from a chip supplier into a global artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure behemoth. Today, with a market cap of $3.5 trillion, it's not about whether Nvidia dominates the AI landscape, it's about what's next. In its most recent quarter (the first quarter of fiscal 2026, ended April 27), Nvidia delivered a jaw-dropping $44.1 billion in revenue, up 69% year over year. For perspective, that's more than Starbucks and Netflix earn combined in a quarter. Of that total, $39.1 billion came from the data center segment, representing a 73% increase year over year. These results reflect the dramatic demand for the company's AI infrastructure from enterprises and governments. Several major growth drivers remain intact. Enterprises and cloud providers are investing aggressively in data centers and AI infrastructure. The AI data center market is expected to be worth nearly $100 billion by 2030. The company's Blackwell architecture chips, the successors to the widely adopted Hopper chips, are already seeing strong demand from hyperscalers and enterprises, primarily for AI inference workloads (deploying AI models in a production environment) -- far ahead of supply. To cater to the demand, Nvidia reserved full production capacity at Wistron's new Taiwan plant through 2026 for Blackwell and Rubin AI servers. Nvidia is no longer just a chipmaker. It now offers a full-stack solution to accelerated computing needs. From hardware to software and networking, Nvidia's ecosystem supports high-performance and low-latency deployment. Nvidia's software offerings are contributing recurring and high-margin revenue streams. Hence, as software becomes a larger portion of the company's overall revenue mix, gross margin can increase from the already high 61%. Beyond data centers, Nvidia is also positioned to benefit from the increasing demand for AI technologies across new use cases in areas such as automotive, edge AI, robotics, and industrial design. These use cases are still developing but can prove significant catalysts in the long run. Despite its many pros, Nvidia has its share of risks. Nvidia is facing revenue headwinds due to restrictions on international exports, especially to China. The company estimated a loss in H20 chip revenue of around $8 billion in the second quarter due to U.S. export controls for China. In the event of escalating geopolitical tensions, this poses a significant risk to Nvidia. Competition is also heating up. Advanced Micro Devices is catching up, while hyperscalers such as Alphabet and Amazon are also developing custom chips. Analysts now estimate the stock's 12-month price target around $176, with the highest target estimate of $250 and the lowest of $100. To see if these estimates make sense, let's use consensus analyst estimates for Nvidia's earnings per share (EPS). Analysts are estimating Nvidia's EPS to be $4.32, $5.72, and $6.44 in fiscal 2026, fiscal 2027, and fiscal 2028, respectively. Nvidia is trading at 36 times forward earnings. Applying a more conservative multiple of 30x, (down from today's elevated levels but suitable for a high-growth technology stock), and you get a three-year price target of around $193 -- roughly 25% upside from today's levels, or around 7% compound annual growth rate (CAGR). This does not seem a very attractive proposition in the current high-inflation environment. However, if Nvidia's bull case holds, then the company's EPS can reach $7.63 in fiscal 2028 and enjoy a premium multiple of 35x (more in line with current levels). In that case, the company's share price can be nearly $267 at the end of 2028 -- around 73% up from today's level, or a 20% CAGR. Finally, in the bear case, Nvidia's EPS is estimated to be around $5.11 and forward P/E multiple can be close to 25 (the lower end for a high-growth company), translating into a $127.11 share price. This would be almost 17% lower than today's price. Nvidia's valuation already incorporates a significant amount of optimism, and the base case, with 7% annual returns, may not adequately justify the risk in a high-interest rate environment. While there is upside potential, the stock currently makes sense primarily for long-term investors with a high risk appetite who are very optimistic about the AI infrastructure opportunity.
