‘15 mins of rains causing mayhem': Viral videos from Mumbai show massive waterlogging on roads in Andheri
Though rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning brought some relief from the rising temperatures, it slowed down road traffic at several places including the Western Express Highway.
Viral videos showed people wading through knee-deep water at Old Nagardas Road in Andheri.
One of the videos from a fruit market showed shopkeepers struggling to keep fruits safe from the flooded street.

Meanwhile, social activist Zoru Bhathena also took a swipe at Brihanmumbai Municipal corporation (BMC) over waterlogging at Andheri Subway.
"Hello My BMC. May we suggest you'll install a sign at both ends of Andheri Subway "THIS IS A DRAIN USE DURING DRY WEATHER ONLY"...This sign will fix the problem...And save Mumbaikars a few hundred crores too," said Bhathena in a post on X.
A video shared by an X user named Sagar Shah showed accumulation of garbage after waterlogging at Saki Naka.
'This is Mumbai? Saki Naka as of now is an overflowing gutter! Please help. We deserve better!.'
'This is Mumbai's world famous Naka..Saki Naka,' said another user retweeting the video.
Slamming BMC over the situation, an X user named Tanmay Tamhane said that this was not even the proper monsoon rains and such pathetic situation was everywhere in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) for the next four days with light to moderate rainfall.
'Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are likely at isolated places,' said the weather department in its forecast for the maximum city.
Parts of Maharashtra may witness heavy rain with thunder and gusty winds between May 21 and 24 following a cyclonic circulation which is likely to form over the east-central Arabian Sea off the Karnataka coast, the Met department said.

NEW DELHI: The national capital is likely to see yet another week of showers, with the India Meteorological Department forecasting light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms to prevail till August 10. On Monday, the capital saw no rainfall despite a cloudy sky throughout the day. Weather officials noted the possibility of thundercloud development by evening or night and expected light showers in the early hours of Tuesday. However, no precipitation was recorded across key observatories, including Safdarjung, Palam, Lodi Road, and Ayanagar, between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm. Temperatures in the city hovered below the seasonal norm. The maximum temperature at Safdarjung was recorded at 33.4 degree celsius, about 0.8 degree celsus below normal, while the minimum stood at 27.2 degree celsius, which was slightly above average. Similar trends were observed across the capital, with maximum temperatures ranging between 31.8 degree celsus and 33.4 degree celsus and minimums between 25.6 degree celsus and 28.1 degree celsus. Humidity levels remained high, peaking at 85% and dipping to a minimum of 66% over the past 24 hours. Winds blew mostly from the west at speeds up to 17 kmph. According to the IMD, the monsoon trough currently lies to the north of Delhi, extending from Amritsar through Uttarakhand to the northeast. Multiple cyclonic circulations persist over Himachal Pradesh, south Rajasthan, and other adjoining regions, which are contributing to the capital's current weather pattern. For the rest of the week, Delhi is expected to see partly cloudy skies with a continued possibility of very light to light rain or thundershowers, especially in the evenings, the forecast said. Maximum temperatures are likely to remain in the range of 32-34 degree celsus till the weekend.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 25.8 degrees Celsius, one notch below the season's average. The maximum temperature is expected to settle around 32 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity at 8.30 am was recorded at 75 per cent. No rainfall was reported in the past 24 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department. Delhi's air quality remained in the satisfactory category, with the Central Pollution Control Board recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 99. Varanasi schools shut amid IMD's orange alert in Uttar Pradesh, Himachal and other states; RED warning in Kerala
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued orange alert for Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, predicting heavy downpour during the day. A red alert is in place for Kerala. 'Extremely heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Kerala and Ghat areas of Tamil Nadu on 05th & 06th August,' IMD said in its latest press release. Varanasi schools will remain closed on August 5 and 6 amid flood-like situation in the state after heavy rains. Varanasi District School Superintendent on Monday said that all boards (including Basic Education Council, Secondary Education Council, CBSE Board, ICSE Board and Sanskrit Board) running from pre-primary to Class 12 will remain closed today and tomorrow. The weather agency predicted a spell of very light to light rain during morning hours. 'Another one or two spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers at many places during afternoon/evening,' IMD stated in weather bulletin dated August 4.
