These 8 Taylor Swift Songs Are Identical To These Movies

Buzz Feed17-04-2025
If you are anything like me, you stopped believing in most things (like Santa, warranty policies, the government) LONG before you'd ever stop believing in Taylor Swift.
giphy
But as much as I can listen to the same Taylor Swift song over and over (sorry to those who share an apartment wall with me), sometimes it is good to branch out.
So, if you want to diversify your media consumption but want to stay in the same lane as Tay...
These Taylor Swift songs are identical to these movies.
So if you like one, you'll like the other.
1. You Belong With Me / The DUFF
pinterest / Via uk.pinterest.com
Really, I can't stress enough. The plot of the film is almost identical to Taylor's lyrics....
Just wait...
"She wears short skirts."
"I wear sneakers."
"Don't you know that what you're looking for has been here the whole time?"
2. Look What You Made Me Do / The Prestige
Starring: Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Scarlet Johanson, Michael Cane
Genre: Thriller, drama
Premise: In 1890s London, two magician friends become rivals after an on-stage accident killed the wife of one of the magicians.
The similarities:
-Rivalries
-Bad blood (another wink to Tay)
-Trust breaking
-Tarnished reputations
-Friends to enemies
-Games and (literal) stages and roles to play
-Rising from the dead - doing it all the time (LIKE COME ON)
-Not moving on, hoping for karma
Like, look at the parallels...
"I don't trust nobody, and nobody trusts me."
"I don't like your kingdom keys, they once belonged to me."
It's almost eerie how similar they are.
3. All Too Well / One Day
pinterest / Via uk.pinterest.com
Starring: Anne Hathaway, Jim Sturgess
Genre: Romance, Drama
Premise: Two university friends meet up once a year and watch their lives and relationships evolve over decades
The similarities:
-Lost connections
-Young love
-Inability to let go
-Forever hoping that the man will get his s**t together
-Meeting the other's parents, and it feeling like home
-Seeming lost without them
-Knowing how effing rare it was
Like... come on... spot on.
"Oh, your sweet disposition and my wide-eyed gaze were singin' in the car, getting lost upstate."
"Maybe we got lost in translation, maybe I asked for too much, but this thing was a masterpiece til you tore it all up, running scared, I was there, I remember it all too well."
"Then you call me up again, just to break me like a promise, so casually cruel in the name of being honest."
4. Anti-Hero / A Star is Born
pinterest / Via uk.pinterest.com
Starring: Lady Gaga, Bradley Cooper
Genre: Drama, Musical?? kind of
Premise: An alcoholic musician falls in love with a young rising star, and watches his life crumble as hers sky-rockets
The similarities:
-The theme of never growing up
-Old habits never dying
-Self-sabotage
-External praise, but inner turmoil
-Negative side-effects of fame
-Knowing the problem is themselves
-Unsatisfaction
-Being 'too big' for normalcy
But the lyrics speak for themselves.
"I have this thing where I get older but just never wiser."
"I'm a monster on the hill, too big to hang out."
pinterest
"It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero."
Uncanny.
5. Cruel Summer / The Notebook
pinterest / Via uk.pinterest.com
Starring: Ryan Gosling (one of the best actors of our generation) and Rachel McAdams (also one of the best actors of our generation... with the most stunning, symmetrical face), James Garland, Gena Rowlands, James Marsden
Genre: Romance, Drama, Historical fiction?
Premise: After a passionate summer love, a city girl and a country boy separate over societal pressures and spend years wondering if their paths will cross once again
The Similarities:
-A love worth a price (and you know that they bought it)
-A heartbreaking end to a summer
-Marking an intense love affair by a season
-Uncertainty and secrecy
-Crying for an entire car ride
-Sneaking out to seal their fate (if you know what I mean...)
But let's look at the lyrics...
"Fever dream, high in the quiet of the night, you know that I caught it."
"Devils roll the dice, angels roll their eyes, what doesn't kill me makes me want you more."
pinterest
"I love you, ain't that the worst thing you've ever heard?"
pinterest

Look how similar they are...
"All of this to say, I hope you're okay but you're the reason. And no one's here to blame. But what about your quiet treason?"
pinterest
"All my mornings are Mondays stuck in an endless February. I took the miracle move-on drug. The effects were temporary."
pinterest
"I love you. It's ruining my life."
I'm crying.
7. I Knew You Were Trouble / 500 Days of Summer
pinterest
Starring: Zoey Deschanel, Joseph-Gordon Levitt
Genre: Romance, Drama, Comedy
Premise: A young man falls madly in love with a girl that says she isn't looking for anything serious
The similarities:
-Being well aware of someone's intentions but thinking you can change them
-When it ends, wondering if they ever cared about you at all
-Never hearing them apologize
-Feeling like it was somehow your fault
-Realizing you were just another person to them
-Zoey (Summer) and 'Red Era' Taylor's clothing aesthetic
-In the end... it's all about Autumn (if you know, you know)

Let's examine it.
"You got me alone. You found me. I guess you didn't care. And I guess I liked that. But when I fell hard, you took a step back without me."
pinterest
"No apologies, they'll never see you cry, pretends they didn't know, that they're the reason why, you're drowning."
"I knew you were trouble when you walked in, so shame on me."
pinterest
Now, finally...
8. mad woman / Carrie
pinterest
Starring: Sissy Spacek, John Travolta
Genre: Horror, Thriller, Drama
Premise: A young girl who has been bullied discovers she has the power of telekinesis and wreaks havoc on her school.
The similarities:
-A woman striking back after being stricken
-Revenge
-The power of anger
-The idea of women needing to silence their emotions
-Exploding after taking abuse for too long

But I'll just let the lyrics speak for themselves.
"Does a scorpion sting while fighting back? They strike to kill, and you know I will."
pinterest
"Now I breathe flames each time I talk."
pinterest
"I'm taking my time cause you took everything from me. Watching you climb over people like me."
pinterest
Those are just the beginning of my rabbit hole dive, but I am sure there are more. Let me know in the comments which other movies mirror Taylor Swift songs.
And neighbours, just knock twice if I am playing Taylor too loud (again).

Taylor Swift's Surprise Album Reaches A Major Milestone

Taylor Swift's Folklore celebrates 260 weeks on the Billboard 200, marking five years on the chart ... More and climbing to No. 68 as it hits half a decade. BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA - JANUARY 05: Taylor Swift attends the 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 05, 2020 in Beverly Hills, California. (Photo by) Taylor Swift shocked the world in the summer of 2020 when she surprise-released her album Folklore in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. Nobody was expecting a brand new full-length from one of the world's biggest artists, especially as she had recently been promoting her pop set Lover, which had its campaign interrupted by the global shutdown. Folklore was immediately welcomed as both a critical and commercial behemoth, and it went on to win her another Album of the Year Grammy. Half a decade later, the title remains present on several Billboard rankings, and it even reaches a special milestone this time around. Folklore Reaches Half a Decade on the Billboard 200 Folklore advances on the Billboard 200, pushing from No. 77 to No. 68 at the moment. This week marks its two-hundred-and-sixtieth frame on the most competitive albums tally in the United States, which means it has now lived on the roster for exactly five years. Luminate reports that as Folklore reaches the milestone, it moves another 14,000 equivalent units, almost all of which come from streaming activity. Taylor Swift's Sixth Time Hitting This Milestone Five years on the Billboard 200 is a major accomplishment, one that most artists will never approach…but it's something Swift has managed before. Folklore is her sixth project to rack up 260 stays somewhere on the tally. It follows 1989, Reputation, Lover, her self-titled full-length, and Fearless, which have all previously made it to that landmark. Folklore Nearly Ties Fearless At present, Folklore sits just one week behind Fearless in terms of lifespan on the Billboard 200. Fearless is nowhere to be found at the moment, while Folklore continues to live inside the upper half of the list. There's a good chance that next week, Folklore will tie Fearless as Swift's fifth-longest-running success on the Billboard 200. Then, just days later, it also seems plausible that Folklore will pass Fearless — perhaps for good — and continue to add to its cumulative total. Taylor Swift's Cross-Chart Success Folklore reaches 260 weeks not just on the Billboard 200, but also on the Top Alternative Albums chart, where this week it sits at No. 9. The project also climbs a few spots on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums list, jumping from No. 19 to No. 16. Swift's first pivot into the alternative space lags behind in terms of the number of weeks spent on that ranking, as it is almost exactly 100 frames behind its tenure on both the Billboard 200 and Top Alternative Albums rosters.

Travis Kelce's Coach Andy Reid Reacts to His Body Transformation

Originally appeared on E! Online Travis Kelce is ready for the next NFL season. In fact, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said the 35-year-old now "looks like he's 20" after working on his physique during the off-season. "He's svelte right now," Reid told reporters July 24. "He's doing a great job. He's in great shape." The 67-year-old continued of Kelce, "You can see he's been working out." Indeed, the tight end has been focused on transforming his body since losing the 2025 Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles in February. As he previously put it, "I am down some weight from the end of the season last year." "This year, I got some time to work on some form running and some things early on in the offseason that I just didn't have time for last year," Kelce shared at a June press conference. "I'm certainly feeling good, and hopefully it'll pay off." More from E! As seen in photos shared on Instagram July 24, the couple of nearly two years went on a snowy vacation to Montana with and Charissa Thompson and threw a summer boat party complete with matching "Captain" and "First Mate" hats. "Had some adventures this offseason," Kelce wrote in the caption. "Kept it 100." And the athlete is grateful to have the "Blank Space" singer in his life. "I'm not here to hide anything," Kelce told Barstool Sports' Bussin' With The Boys podcast in June. "That's my girl. That's my lady. I'm proud of that, so I'm not sitting here trying to juggle, like, 'How can I keep this under wraps?'" "We're just enjoying life," he added. "We're having fun with it, man, being a couple." Is Netflix's ‘Happy Gilmore 2' A Cash-In Or Worth Watching?

Happy Gilmore 2 Netflix has now released Happy Gilmore 2, the 29-years-later sequel to the Adam Sandler comedy classic. Critic and fans are chiming in about the movie and the current scores are…actually kind of surprising. So far, this does not seem like some sort of ill-conceived cash-in, but rather a worthy sequel. In the case of critics, at least Happy Gilmore 2 has a 65% Rotten Tomatoes score which is a tick above the original's 63% score. Audience scores have the film at a 74%, which is lower than the 85% of the original, albeit that's about 1,000 reviews in compared to 250,000 over the last thirty years. The film got a surprise endorsement from none other than Taylor Swift, who broadcast to her hundreds of millions of fans that they should watch the movie: "Happy Gilmore 2 had me cackling and cheering the whole movie. An absolute must watch," Swift, 35, wrote on Instagram, along with posting the movie's poster. "13/10, go watch it on @netflix as soon as humanly possible.' Random? Not really. Her boyfriend Travis Kelce appears in the movie, and who doesn't love a supportive girlfriend? Still, quite a plug, as you can't pay for that kind of press. Happy Gilmore 2 As for actual critics, here's some of the praise that's come in: Rolling Stone – 'The rule for sequels is: give them the same, only different. Happy Gilmore 2 adheres to this concept beautifully, along with doling out enough blatant fan service to choke a one-eyed alligator.' Consequence– 'Between Happy's family life and a whole new series of challenges for him to tackle, there's enough freshness to the plot to keep it from feeling like a total rehash of what came before, while still delivering wild golf stunts and a huge range of cameos.' I think my favorite bit of praise is from Digital Mafia Takes who says 'Happy Gilmore 2 is Adam Sandler's Top Gun: Maverick.' There's a bit of a weird situation where Netflix currently has the rights to the original Happy Gilmore, but you can only stream it on the service for the next week before it's leaving on August 1. As a Netflix original, meanwhile, Happy Gilmore 2 will stay on Netflix indefinitely, and it's no doubt about to debut at #1 on the Top 10 list. But if you want to watch both, you'll have to do it within this week unless you want to head over to Hulu or Peacock where the film will still be viewable. So, it's a success, and I have to imagine viewership is going to be amazing. Happy Gilmore 3? Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram.
