Pakistan's MLRS barrage on India? It's a video game, says PIB

NEW DELHI: A viral video claiming to show a heavy rocket barrage by Pakistan on India has been debunked by the government as fake, with the Press Information Bureau (PIB) confirming that the footage was taken from a video game.
In a post on X,
PIB Fact Check
flagged the video as part of a broader
disinformation campaign
. 'Pakistan Propaganda Alert! A video showing a heavy MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket Systems) barrage is being falsely shared as a real Pakistani attack on India,' the post read.

It added that the video had been online for over three years and originated from a gaming platform, not any real-world conflict.
The clarification comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, following India's precision strikes on terror camps across the border in response to the April 22 attack in Pahalgam. Since then, several Pakistani social media accounts have circulated misleading content to provoke panic and distort the narrative.

The PIB's Fact Check Unit investigated seven such videos between late Wednesday and early Thursday. These included a video falsely showing a drone strike in Jalandhar, which was actually a farm fire. The district collector of Jalandhar confirmed this was misinformation.
Another clip purporting to show a Pakistani missile strike on India was found to be footage from the 2020 Beirut explosion. A separate claim that the Pakistani military had destroyed an Indian post was also disproved; there is no such entity as the "20 Raj Battalion" in the Indian Army.
A fabricated letter attributed to a non-existent Army chief, General VK Narayan, was also circulated online. PIB dismissed this letter as entirely fake.
A further video claimed that the Indian Air Force had launched attacks from the Ambala airbase. PIB confirmed this to be untrue, citing a detailed Ministry of Defence press release.
False reports of a 'fidayeen' attack in Rajouri and a blanket entry ban at airports were also debunked. Airlines including Akasa, SpiceJet, and IndiGo have instead advised passengers to arrive early due to heightened security measures.
PIB urged the public to stay alert and avoid spreading unverified content, stressing the importance of relying on official sources during times of national tension.

Cong demands compensation for farmers affected by heavy rains in Gwalior-chambal

Bhopal: The Congress state unit on Tuesday demanded compensation for farmers who have faced crop damage due to excessive rains. Party media department president Mukesh Nayak expressed deep concern over the heavy devastation caused by continuous and excessive rains in Dabra, Bhind, Shivpuri, Karera, and Datia districts of Gwalior-Chambal division. Nayak said heavy rains have caused extensive damage to crops in more than 200 villages of these five districts including Sevdha, Bhander, and Datia development blocks. Oilseeds and pulses have been destroyed at many places. Due to this, farmers already burdened with debt are in a serious financial crisis, Mukesh Nayak argued. "Additionally, hundreds of houses have collapsed or been damaged in urban and rural areas, but no concrete steps have been taken by the state govt and administration," he alleged. Former minister Mukesh Nayak asked, "When the devastation in the villages is clearly visible, why have the revenue department teams not been sent for survey till now? Why has there been no official damage survey?" He demanded that the administration should immediately send revenue teams to the affected villages and provide compensation to the farmers and affected families as per the Revenue Book Circular (RBC) guidelines. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Could Be the Best Time to Trade Gold in 5 Years IC Markets Learn More Undo The state Congress media cell chief further said, "The BJP govt is limited to announcements only. The farmers on whose strength the country runs are on the verge of devastation today and the govt is a mute spectator." Congress demanded a transparent survey conducted immediately by revenue teams to all the affected villages. "The families whose houses have been destroyed should be provided rehabilitation and relief camp facilities. The affected farmers should be provided loan waiver and assistance for the next crop," Nayak said.

Agri minister Manikrao Kokate seeks inquiry into card playing allegations, says will resign if found guilty

Nashik/Pune: State agriculture minister Manikrao Kokate on Tuesday again dismissed the allegations that he was "playing an online game of cards" on his cellphone during a state assembly session and said he was ready to face an inquiry. NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar, however, claimed that the minister was lying and shared a video of the minister, along with the audio from the session. He insisted that Kokate resign before facing a probe. Kokate, who was in Nashik on Tuesday, said he would seek an inquiry into a video released by his political rivals and tender his resignation if found guilty during the winter session. Kokate also announced his intention to sue all those trying to defame him. When reporters brought up the opposition's demand, Kokate asked: "What should I give my resignation for? Have I committed any crime?" "I am going to write to the chief minister, deputy chief minister, the chairperson of the legislative council, and the Speaker of the assembly to conduct an inquiry into the episode and make public the report during the next winter session. If found guilty, I will tender my resignation to the Governor without even meeting the chief minister or the deputy chief minister," Kokate said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Up to 70% off | Libas Purple Days Sale Libas Undo He further said when he goes to Mumbai next week, he would contact his lawyers, issue notices to all politicians involved in defaming him, and file a defamation suit. "I have been in the House for over 25 years and would never indulge in acts that violate the norms. I have already clarified that when I wanted some updates on my cellphone, I opened it only to encounter a pop-up advertisement of the online game. I struggled to skip the advertisement despite attempting multiple times. There is a complete video, and it is longer than 17 seconds. It reveals the truth, as I was able to skip the advertisement after multiple attempts. I will, therefore, seek the call records of the politicians engaged in the act and file defamation cases against them," said Kokate. When asked about chief minister Devendra Fadnavis's statement that playing cards in the House was inappropriate, Kokate said, "Currently, I have neither briefed the CM (Devendra Fadnavis) nor the deputy CM (Ajit Pawar) on the issue. The CM's statement might have been based on the media reports." Does Not Take 42 Seconds To Skip Advertisement: Rohit Pawar A few days ago, Rohit Pawar had uploaded a video of Kokate without the background audio on his X handle. When Kokate claimed on Tuesday that he was surfing on his cellphone when there was no discussion going on in the assembly, the Karjat-Jamkhed MLA reposted it with the audio on the same social media platform. "Respecting the assembly's decorum, I first posted the video without the audio. However, since the state agriculture minister is lying, I had to repost it with the background audio. He was seen playing the game of cards on his cellphone while issues about a tribal community were being discussed in the assembly," Rohit said on X. He reiterated it while speaking to reporters in Karjat Jamkhed on Tuesday. Countering Kokate's claim that he was surfing on his cellphone when the advertisement of the online game popped up and he was skipping it, Rohit said, "It does not take 42 seconds to skip an advertisement. If the minister says that he will face a probe, he should resign and then appear for the inquiry." The MLA said that farmers expected much from the state govt, but the agriculture minister has been making controversial statements about them in the last four years. "When the farming community needs support, he is playing a game of cards. Such politicians should not hold a cabinet minister's post," Rohit Pawar added.
